It Won't Stop Raining, and I Can't Stop Winning! Catching hundreds of ant queens~
Arizona's monsoon season is in full swing, and I have once again found myself in Southern Arizona surrounded by hundreds of queen ants, rare & venomous snakes, and more! Despite this being a short trip, I'm not sure I've ever seen more ant queens than I did on this day.

In this video, only minutes after arriving back home from Florida, I immediately shot down to southern Arizona to collect the first ant queens of the year. This was a huge gamble, and I was definitely considering just staying inside and sleeping instead... will my gamble pay off? Spending Days to find an Invasive Monster

I spent a week in the Florida Everglades hunting for invasive Burmese Pythons! It ended up being a lot harder than I expected, but can I still succeed? How many other species will I find along the way? Absolutely everything out here is new to me, so whatever happens we're in for a fun adventure! Arthropod Antics Discord Server: discord.gg/mBY6QBTbff
Caribbean Island Hopping to find Rare Ants

My family decided to take me on a Caribbean cruise, and naturally I took the opportunity to look for ants. I had to rush, only having a few hours at each stop, and if I took too long the ship would leave me behind! Of course, not everything went to plan, but I did my best to find a bunch of ants I had never seen before, including a bunch of rare species! Arthropod Antics Discord Server: discord...

Finding Leafcutter Ants in Unexpected Places

I travelled to Central Illinois to find Trachymyrmex septentrionalis, the northern fungus-farming ant. This population is one of the northernmost ranges of fungus growing ants on the planet, only being contested by another population of this same species on Long Island, New York. I found one three weeks ago, I found her on my yard so I picked her up to take her to a better place for her to dig, but by the time I was taking her to a park, she had already laid eggs so I had no choice but to keep her. She is living on a box with a wet cotton and she has laid about 20 eggs, she has a black thing which I think is the fungus, but when I give her leaves she puts them next to the wet cotton instead of feeding the fungus. I don't know the first thing about attas so I would like some help pls 😢.

    • @ArthropodAntics
      @ArthropodAntics Před 6 dny

      Atta are fully claustral, they won't cut leaves to feed their fungus in founding. After 3 weeks she should have a large fungus, so if you're not seeing that then she doesn't have fungus.
