About the SONG:
This song, "Quarantine Chords," stands out as a personal favorite in my live performances. 🎶 Composed during the whirlwind of 2020, it wasn’t part of the same timeframe as the other pieces in this series, but it aligns perfectly with the same idea: creating something meaningful within an hour ⏳. Despite the chaos of that time, I found a familiar sense of peace 🌅 in returning to my roots-sitting down and simply playing chords. 🎸
As a kid, I used to come home from school 🏫 and spend hours just finding chords. They were simple back then, but the thrill of getting those first few chords to ring out cleanly without any buzzing was, and still is, exhilarating. ⚡ That love for exploring chords has never left me, and during the tumult of 2020, I revisited this exercise, hoping to find a moment of calm. 🌅🎶
What I realized during this session was my deep appreciation for the tension within chords. 🎵 Playing two notes that are close in interval on their own can create a lot of tension, almost unsettling. 😬 But when you hear that tension within the context of a full chord, it’s that very tension that gives the chord its color and character. 🎨🌟 Tension, I’ve come to see, is all about context and perspective. 🔍
So, I sat down with this concept, starting with the simple triad-based chords I loved as a beginner and gradually building up to more complex and colorful harmonies. 🎶✨ This process brought me a moment of peace, 🌅 and it's a practice I've embraced more and more since then. The piece is a reflection of that journey-of finding beauty, calm, growth 🌱, hope, and perspective amidst the tension-and it’s why I’ve named it "Quarantine Chords." 🧘♂️🎸

I've loved this one since the Entelechy days when it was "Whenever It Rains." I can't go on rainy drives at night without listening to this song at least once. Such a beautiful vibe!
This has been a favourite of mine ever since I heard it. Long live the Kalimbatar 💚
Thank you so much!!! I need to revisit this piece myself.
❤❤❤
🙏🏻🙏🏻
Such a great tone!! Very curious on how you get that airy sustain like that. Does this one have tabs?
Thank you! This has a few different layers of reverb that all interact and give that big swirl! Yep tabs found here: trevorgordonhall.com/tablature
❤🎶🎵👍👍👍
🙏🏻🙏🏻
This rocks. Getting strong dave mathews (satelite) vibes. I'd love to hear that next part..
Thank you!!
Any part of this could be the new dreamworks intro. The third lick with the minor 4 leading into that minor 6 was amazing.
Thanks so much man that would be awesome!!!
Seriously beautiful
Thank you!!
I really love the sound of your guitar from Thailand.
Thank you very much!
Hello, could you please tell me how much Reverb and delay use? Sounds amazing. Or if someone knows... Please let me know. Thanks 👍👍
Hello there! This is actually 3 different reverbs stacked together, one smaller shorter tail, one large longer tail and then the decay from those gets sent into a shimmer reverb for the star trails. Layering reverbs is a blast!
@@TrevorGordonHall Thank You!!
Keep it going brother 🤙, send my love to Andy and Calum!
sounds good thank you!
Lovely chords! ❤
Thank you!!

I hope you never stop searching, Trevor. One day, you will find a chord that nobody else has ever heard before!
Thank you! I will never stop the search!!

Hahaha! Believe it or not it is actually a refrigerator!!
Such GROOVE! What's the title of this one?
Thank you! This is an older tune of mine I am re-working right now called “Turning Ruts Into Grooves”
What's the name of this tune ? I love it.
Thanks so much!!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Really dope man, what tuning are you In?
Thanks!! This one is FACGAE
Trevor,…🙏🏽💚🎶 these new songs really resonate with me. Apart from wanting to learn some of those recent nylon tunes I was wondering whether there is an album with all of those coming / out already? Would love to purchase that…
Thank you so much! Means a lot man! Yes all of these will be available on an album coming this fall! Its been a wild ride with these and I may do more in the future but this batch of songs feels like a cohesive collection to have together in one final project.
Beautiful!
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Trevor - this has to be my favorite song of the album so far. Simply gorgeous! Bravo!
Thank you so much! Just performed this live tonight in Birmingham AL and it was really special. This piece just puts me in a trance when I play it!
Superb composition. Joyful yet a little sad with a sense of longing. Just wonderful!
I appreciate that thank you!
This was immediately stunning. The longer you listened to it, the more it pulled you into it. Bravo! Wonderful!
That's awesome feedback thank you!!
Gorgeous. - Steve
Thanks so much Steve!
Trevor I feel like you have mastered the art of holding off on resolving the melody (not sure if this is correct terminology) til just the right time. It's one of my favorite aspects of music.
Thanks so much!! I remember years ago hearing someone say "Play what you would want to listen to" and that always stuck with me! Trying to make sure I play as patient as I can these days and really build a story that hopefully pays off!
👏👏👏👏❣❣❣❣
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Sublime! Love this series, Trevor. The style of this piece instantly reminded me of Michael Chapdelaine, I'm sure he would love it. All the best.
Thank you very much! I learned so much from his touch and our conversations over the years about what music is really all about. Miss him
The voicings are always so FIRE!!!
Thanks so much! Man I love chords so much!

May these notes drift up to Mr. Chapdelaine. I feel he would be honored.
Thank you! Gone too soon. I miss him
Beautiful!

Hi, could you tell me what guitar you're using?
Sure! This is the furch gcn2 cedar top and walnut back and sides
@@TrevorGordonHall awesome. Looks like an awesome guitar.
I can’t stop listening to these mediations. Inspired writing. Excellent transmission of emotion and state of mind. This is the mark of a true composer on any instrument. Looking forward to studying one of these soon. What a gift that you have made these lovely things. I love the most how these gems bring about singleness of mind. People everywhere, by some mysterious means no one understands fully , are helped by such art as this. All will find pain lessened by the infusion of this goodness into the world.
Thank you for your thoughtful words here! I always hope the music can help others but I know first and foremost how much it has helped me. Not sure where I would be without it! Thanks for your support and continuing to engage with my work!
Of course being a huge fan of yours, Trevor, and having every EP or album you’ve ever made, tabs, video lessons, etc… This piece is the lead-off song on my personal meditations playlist (followed by about a dozen others of yours 😊). I shared my playlist with a dear friend a couple weeks ago. She said your music was “salve for the soul.” I loved that! This piece needs to win in a new Grammy category: Salve for the Soul. 🏆🎶 Thank you for all you do - acknowledging what you wrote in your comments… I still appreciate your thoughtfulness. (It’s not overthinking - it’s simply composing thoughtfully.) 😉😎
This really means a lot to me. The music comes from a really honest place in me and I am thrilled when it can connect with others in a meaningful way. That is what it is all about man! Thanks so much for your support and making my music a part of your life!
It's wonderful
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Lovely ❤
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Very lovely composition and performance! Just wondering what you did to the bridge on your Furch nylon? The saddle seems unique. I assume this is a pickup. Woud you mind identifying it? Thanks!
Thank you so much! Nylon string guitars are so hard to intonate properly so my repair tech Mike Haney came up with the solution of having 6 individual bridges one for each string to really dial the intonation in. Genius idea and really works well! Looks crazy too right?
Beautifully written bro. I listen to your music daily and have been for some years now. Keep em coming 👍🏼🤟🏼
That means the world to me thank you!
I like the Kalimba attachment
Thank you! Been working with that for about 18 years now and man its been a fun project to develop
What chords? Amazing
starts with a Eb6 and sort of just goes a few different keys from there!
