    I have A0, with frame from A1. I have around 13k rounds shot. I bought green striker spring right away to drop heavy trigger pull. What is important to mention, is the fact that after around 1K trigger became soft and it's not heavy at all. I read/watch a lot of reviews about A1 and newer heard about this recoil spring problems, so i quess this is some small fraction batch problem. In A0 common issue is rusting back plate and sights, but proper maintanace (silicon oil) solves it. Second and most annoing issue, is weak springs for magazines, which in time might cause the problem of holding slide in back position after last round. I bought couple of magazines later in time and still got this issue. The problem is in 15 round magazines. Third thing in A1 specifically is this coating which is called Aquatech by beretta. It has corrosion and wet resistance, but it wear off easier than previous blueing. This might be an issue for users, who dont like "battle work" look of their guns ;) Other than that this is great gun. I use it for IDPA/tactical competition and newer let me down. Thanks for detail

    I got the porting done on my competitor by flyod's custom and its an awesome upgrade. I also changed to a lighter spring and I feel it helps soften the return to battery which helps me keep the gun leveled while shooting fast. The stock trigger was good but not great. Swapped it out for the overwatch trigger and it greatly improved the pre travel, break and the reset of the trigger.

      Hello again. The loose front insert is a really easy fix, but it should not happen at all. As to the sides, we use the medium large backstrap, so the palm swells do the trick for us and we have no slippage. However, there is a company out there who makes a stick on inserts for the sides which match the grip texture. the link is here: tactical.dev/products/grip-stickies-for-smith-wesson-m-p-2-0-metal The company is called tactical development. I have not used their products, but I saw one of their videos and it looks like it should solve any issue someone is having with grip on the sides. Plus, it's inexpensive. • @The2AExperiment
      @The2AExperiment Před 17 dny

      I am glad to hear we agree CZ could have done a better job on the beavertail. As to the zombie apocalypse LOL. It's tough. Out of the box, I would say it's a tossup. Our PDP Pro SD 5.1" has a much better trigger that never froze up on me, and it comes with three 18rd mags, and It works better suppressed. But, the sights are cheap plastic and if I had to smack a zombie, or an unfriendly human, they may brake off. I guess out of the box I will have to say PDP Pro SD. If it were the way I have both guns setup today, I may go with the CZ P-10F OR SR. I can shoot the CZ faster and flatter with the new MCarbo trigger, because the CZ is heavier and has the Glock grip angle. The sights are far better as well. Plus, the CZ will stay in your hands better if they get wet from the aftermath, it's far more grippy. The CZ P-10F is also stupid big, so you can use it as a long distance bludgeon if you run out of rounds. Both good choices. I would probably go with an M&P over Both. LOL. Thanks for the great question and for watching. What would you choose?

    I absolutely love my Walther PDP full size 5 inch. Polymer of course. So much so, that I bought a second one. One for iron sights (of which I replaced with some good metal ones) and one for my optic which is my EDC. I was considering buying this one because, why not. I want to get a metal frame gun. But after your review, I think I’ll pass. Especially the sharp beaver tail edge. I think for a metal gun I’ll go with the Canik Rival S. I shot one of those and loved it.

    • @The2AExperiment
      @The2AExperiment Před 20 dny

      We are really impressed with the PDP Pro SD, and now that it's in the mid $600 range, it's hard to beat it. We have been testing it with different springs and we have the Harrington Comp. At some point we will finish the testing and get a video out covering it all. As to the PDP SF, some people really like it, and overall it's not a bad gun, but I just don't understand all the hype. Especially at $2,000. We shoot a lot of guns and it just doesn't do anything special. It really may come down to different hand sizes and preference. We have only had one or two other people comment that they had issues with the beavertail digging into them, so it may not be an issue for you. If you can get your hands on one and put a few hundred rounds through it, you will see if it is something that effects you. Most people who review or own the PDP SF seem to like it, and many people have argued we are crazy for not loving it. It is funny though that out of all the people we let shoot ours, only one person loved it and bought one. The others were not that impressed. One of our friends who competes went with the Canik steel frame and he loves it. We have been able to shoot the hell out of his and I have to say, I like it more than the PDP SF, and it's half the cost. So, if you really like that firearm, you may want to jump on it. Again, if you are able to test a PDP SF, you will know for yourself. Either way, good luck with your steel frame gun purchase. There are lots of good options out there. If are not looking for a striker fired competition gun, and you are looking in the $2,000 range, don't sleep on the SIG Custom Works P226 X-Five. It's our favorite firearm at that price point, and they are still making them. It's an all steel, single action only, 4 way adjustable trigger beast. Thanks for watching and commenting. Let us know what you end up with.

      @@The2AExperiment Cool! I’ll be watching for your full Pro SD review. I almost bought one before I bought my second full size PDP 5 inch. I’m not a competitive shooter although it looks like a lot of fun to challenge skills with. So I’m not necessarily looking for a threaded barrel for a can or compensator. Although I do have a Canik TP9 Elite Combat with a threaded barrel that is a very nice shooter and has been totally reliable. I’m strictly just a self defense shooter that loves to take as many classes as I can to be as effective and proficient as I can. And honestly, having a nice steel frame gun would really be more of a “range toy” for me and just to say I have one. And honestly, as a retired guy with four grandchildren to buy things for, money can be tight at times. 😂 So almost $2000 for a Walther PDP steel frame is a little steep when I could get the Rival S for half that. But I still would love to find someone with the steel frame PDP so I could try it out. Thanks for the response and good info! Just subbed to your channel and look forward to more cool gun stuff!

But hey if you don’t like it you don’t like it I guess!😂 just goes to show just because the majority of top shooters like something don’t mean you will, always try shooting a gun before you buy it! • @The2AExperiment
      @The2AExperiment Před 26 dny

      I agree, there is no comparison, but for different reasons. One is now $650, with the same trigger and magwell, the other is $2,000, not as comfortable to shoot, and single purposed. At least it's heavy, but that is it's only positive upgrade from the poly. I still feel the Steel frame is overrated and greatly overpriced. For that money, unless you are a serious competitor, who needs a striker fired gun to get around hammer down starts, there are far better guns in the price range. It will be interesting to see how the new P320 SF X-Five compares, and the $1,000 Canik SF already gives the Walther SF a run for it's money without upgrades. Plus, the QF SF is cheap now, and other than magazine capacity, it's a solid striker fired option too. Actually, we have a friend who likes his Walther 5" SF more than his Alien. Lot's of good choices out there and different guns work for different people. Glad you like yours. Thanks for the comment.

      Hi. Thanks for stopping by. Did you get the S&W metal competitor, or a different model? Cyelee makes other optics at similar price points that may work better for you, if you plan on co-witnessing your irons. Since you will need a plate for S&W, you may want to look into the Cyelee Shark as it has a lower deck height. We put a Holosun SCS PDP on our metal Competitor because it is direct mount and let usvuse the irons, but the window is really small. Let us know what you end up doing.

    • @joshmartin7558
      @joshmartin7558 Před 28 dny

      @The2AExperiment yes sir the competitor 2.0. 9mm. It's a great gun but I'm really not digging the sights. Like at all. I have the smaller shield plus and I'm pretty damn accurate with it. I put about 200 rnds through the competitor the other day and I loved the way it shot, just wasn't feeling the sights. The green dot was really hard to see at the indoor range. Sometimes it almost felt like guess work trying to evenly center that green dot on the all black back sight. With the shield plus, you line up those 3 white dots evenly and it's dead on. Every time. What do you recommend going with?

    • @The2AExperiment
      @The2AExperiment Před 28 dny

      @@joshmartin7558 Congrats on the Competitor. It's a nice gun and we enjoy doing videos with it. After we ported it at Floyd's it became one of our favorites. As to what optic to go with, that's tough. You have to consider a few things: what are you using the gun for, do you want to be able to use your irons as back ups, how big of a window you want, what color dot you prefer, what features are important to you, and of course, how much you are willing to spend. The Cyelee Cobra X Pro is a great, do it all optic, and it is inexpensive, but you will not be able to use your irons as backups, because the rear deck height is too high. This will be true with most optics because the irons on the Competitor are low profile. If you are interested in Cyelee, they also make very large competition style optics and smaller Shield sized optics, at a great price. Again, It really depends on what you plan on using the firearm for. Since you do not like the sights on the Competitor, you can always swap out them out for something a little taller. Then you can use any optic you want and still have cowittness. Some people don't care about back up irons, but we do, so we went with the Holosun SCS MP2 on our Competitor because of the low deck height and direct mount. We can cowittness the irons with it, but It has a really small window and it only comes in green, so not really a fan. In the end, you really cannot go wrong with the Cyelee products as they are extremely well rounded, feature rich, durable, and light on the pocketbook. Especially if you are just getting into optics, as these cover all the bases. Holosun, also makes some good, reasonably priced optics, so for just getting into optics I would recommend either of the brands. If price is not an issue, and you want all the features and durability, you can go with the new Trijicon HD. The Competitor comes with plates that will accommodate most choices. Let us know what you decide to go with, and how you like it.

      @@artifactdad thank you for the kind words. The takedown is easy, if done correctly. I believe we went over it in the review of the APX Gen 1 Combat, but we may have cut it. The problem with the takedown is, people don't realize you take it down with the slide forward. I have seen people locking the slide to the rear and then trying to take it down, like a Sig, M&P, or FN. Thanks for the excellent review! My very first Cyelee optic that I ever bought, the original CAT model (RMSc footprint, without the side-loading battery compartment) just randomly stopped working one day, after weeks of sitting on my nightstand gun (the battery lead had somehow become disconnected from the optic itself). I just emailed Cyelee, and they sent me a return label. I sent it back to them, and within a week I had a brand new one, no questions asked. It's been rock solid for the past year or so. I've purchased 6 other Cyelee pistol optics (all with side-loadig battery trays), including the CAT Pro, the CAT X Pro, 2 Wolf0s, the Wolf Pro, and the Bear, since then, and I've never had a problem with any of them...

    I had my PDP Pro 4.6 at the range last Friday and it has instantly become my second favorite gun to shoot (I love my 1911’s). I’m definitely going to buy the Holosun SCS because of it being a direct mount red dot (the fact it is solar is also kind of nice too!) and my Herrington comp just showed up yesterday. Herrington recommends putting a couple of hundred rounds through the PDP before installing the comp, so I’ll do that. Look, people dump this kind of money into a steel gun because of IDPA class rules. It is ILLEGAL to add weight to a polymer gun and make it a 43 Oz gun. But it is LEGAL to shoot one if it comes from the factory at that weight. It's a fcked up rule, but it is what it is. People will PAY a thousand dollars or more, and put up with ergonomics issue if it meant they can shoot a Walther that is 42 Oz instead of one that is 28 Oz. They like the twalther trigger and if the only way to get an additional dozen oounces onto the gun is to pay walther $1899 then that s what they'll do. If it means wearing a bandage on your thumb, then that is what they'll do. 14 oz of extra is to die for.

    • @The2AExperiment
      @The2AExperiment Před měsícem

      Thanks for the comment. We only do local shoots, so comfort and feel mean a lot to us. I have other 42 oz guns that I like more than the Walther, and I would personally take a Shadow 2 over the Walther any day of the week, and it's half the price. I expect a nice feeling and great shooting gun for $2,000, but that's my personal opinion. The gun just doesn't do it for us. And again, we are not serious competition shooters, so I am fine shooting my Legion with a Gray Guns trigger, if I want a heavy, striker fired gun for the local stuff, and it's only $900. I can fully understand why a serious competition shooter, that doesn't want to deal with hammer down starts, or no optic cut, would find value in the Walther. It's a decent gun, but not what we expected at the price point. Kind of disappointing really, for what we use it for, which is absolutely nothing at the moment. Trying to sell it, but no takers. We have also shot the Canik SF and it wasn't much different than the Walther, but half the cost. Not quite as nice with regard to return to zero, but not a $1,000 worse either, and I greatly preferred the feel in the hand. But that's where subjectivity comes in. Either way, we wanted to, and tried to like it, and dumped thousands of rounds through it in the process, but it just isn't the gun for us. We appreciate the input, and your perspective. I am sure there will be a gun we agree upon at some point. Thanks again.

    • @dwightlooi
      @dwightlooi Před měsícem

      @@The2AExperiment They'll make you shoot a Shadow 2 DA for the first shot. I know of enough people who find that so objectionable that they swear they are faster and more accurate if they simply swipe the hammer back with the supporting hand during the draw. A striker gun lets you shoot single action only all the way. Glock doesn't make a steel frame. CANIK and the other clone vendors do, but people gravitate towards an original. There is always the Alien, but that's $5000~6000. -- So... people pay $1899 for a steel frame Walther if they have the money. Some of those who don't spend $200 on ILLEGAL tungsten rods and pins for their Glocks just to get an extra ounce or two. -- An interesting experiment you guys can do is to pit a PDP Steel against a PDP Polymer Match with 12 ounce of weight clamped onto the frame rail. I bet you the latter will shoot as well if not better given the identical mass and the fact that it has them all on the nose.

    • @The2AExperiment
      @The2AExperiment Před měsícem

      @@dwightlooi when we did our actual full review of the PDP SF we brought up dumping the money into the Poly Match to see how it would compare. The poly PDP just fits us better. We have been messing around with our PDP Pro SD 5.1" and it's been pretty surprising how much the spring weight changes that gun. Brass backstrap and magwell, and I could see it sitting down real nice. Asvtovthe whole DA start, that's for the birds. When you load and make ready the hammer is cocked, so why make you drop it? Stupid. I know that's one of the reasons people are moving to striker fired competition pistols, and it makes sense. Anyway, got to get to bed. Nice speaking with you. Have a good one.
