Question: how much did you develop the story before you started drawing it?

I agree with all of your points, and I think the way I thought about it in my head was that Viv has a lot of pressure put on her for her first big project, without any real big story creation before. Because of this, it seems the the show is really just a place to put her OCs and their lore in. I don’t mean this badly, really, but it really does feel more character-focused rather than plot, which can be good, but with her limited experience, it doesn’t seem to be executed as well as it could have been.

It's funny you bring up the idea of people dying again when they're in hell cause the pilot raises that question but never answers it. The show (and by extension Vivziepop) isn't interested in those details of the world. You can see so many issues from the show arising from her lack of willingness to properly develop the world and something as important as "Wait we're already in hell what happens to us when he die?" should be considered by the writer. And with the Vs, they were advertised for years as the main antagonists of Hazbin Hotel, but it feels like at some point Vivzie got bored of them and decided to change the direction to making them fight heaven when that wasn't what was intended at first. Cause the pilot seemed to be setting up a more small scale story, kinda like Hey Arnold but in hell where Charlie is trying to redeem sinners in hell while everyone thinks she's stupid. The show immediately jumps to an entirely different plot about fighting heaven when that wasn't at all what the pilot was leading to be the main focus. They absolutely rushed through what felt like 2 or 3 seasons worth of story in 8 episodes cause they seemed scared they wouldn't get more only to shoot themselves in the foot.

Honestly around the 12:00 mark it sounds more aroace than ace alone

It’s almost as if Hazbin wants to be episodic like an 80’s cartoon yet it has a very complex plot line that only a super-fan like me would understand.

My problem is pacing, and overall script quality. I mean, it sounds like it was written by a 14 year old who insists on using profanity every other word. It is meant to push the idea that it is for older audiences, but it just becomes exhausting and childish in a way.

I've seen this happen to alot of great shows like castlevania and arcane,but in this case, i have no faith more eps wouldve lead to a better written story. Vis is an artist first,writer second. The writing falls short when it comes to world-building and telling a storytelling. Hellvua boss is proof of it.

3:25 i've never ever seen any other show ever go on to detail about its lore and story as fucking breadcrumbs on any platform that isn't the show itself who even does that i feel like it gets swept under the rug just because "indie animation is booming" (just hope Gooseworx actually puts all the lore in the actual show and doesn't repeat Medrano's mistakes)

I think it would be interesting to take the whole k1ll an angel subplot to challenge Charlie's ideals. Given that even the angels know how to end themselves, it would seem like an easy solution to figure it out by the sinners to give them a chance to fight back against the angels during the extermination. Charlie wouldn't want that, as redemption is a more peaceful solution to the exterminations happening, driving her to work harder on the hotel project.
