    2 years now with my 2009 FZ6. This is my first bike so my opinion isn't as valid. I love this bike tho. Easy to take turns and get around town but also loves the revs. He wasnt kidding when you get past 8k rpms, its like the bike just wakes up and remembers it has the heart of an R6. Pushing 10k miles on this bike and finally considering an upgrade. Being 6'4 and weighing upwards of 230 lbs, I'm looking to get the bigger version of this bike, FZ1

      Fz1 is a great bike as well. Not even much heavier, and really has that warp speed feeling when accelerating. More $$ on tires due to the torque and eats chains quicker too but the fun factor is definitely there. Thanks for watching!

    First bike, bought it at age 31. The long powerband is a lifesaver on this bike. It’s sluggish at lower rpm, once you gain more experience add more rpms. These s1s are available with abs. I took it across Europe this summer with full camping gear crossing the alps and doing many hairpins and pulls after it. Then going home doing 150kmh on the autobahn. It’s a remarkable bike. It did lack a bit of torque going uphill with camping gear compared to my buddies boxer but that’s fine. I’m a beginner so it could be me.

    • @axel-moto
      @axel-moto Před 15 dny

      Yup they downgraded a couple things. The forks, and the brakes especially - I think you have the blue dot calipers which came back for the S2 version. Also the engine on the original fazer 600 has more lower end pull (but also a lower redline and less peak hp) however this does make it more enjoyable when cruising. Also - and this is subjective - I think the old fazer looks a bit better. I might pick one up in the future since they’re so cheap and cool.

One tip if it’s got the clock in the right hand fairing and the bulb goes , the manual says you’ve got to take the fairing off to get to it , nope my mechanic showed me that there’s in little indent in the clock face , using a really small screwdriver , insert , press I down lightly and clock rises up allowing you to change bulb simples . Happy riding 😊👍👍

    Here’s the thing: I own many many bikes. I own one of these (wife bought it. We travelled across the US to ride and take delivery as she absolutely had to have it). The bike sucked. Royally sucked. Why? Two main issues: tall handlebars and a hidden fuel system hose leak inside the tank that made the engine run with much less power. Fast forward: fixed the fuel system. Swapped the bars for low avant-garde bars. Bike is amazing. Love it. Became one of my favorites immediately. I have several BMWs and always preferred the adventure GS models (have two). Have cafe bikes, classics… etc. nothing and I mean nothing gets more compliments and attention from people on the street. The 1200c is definitely under appreciated.

I've daily'ed an '07 FZ6 the last year and really enjoyed how maneuverable and responsive it is, do you think it's one of the better quality bikes to tour and daily with? Hey Marcel! I definitely put miles on my fz6, and did a couple of long trips with it (some of which I documented on my channel). I really like it, I think it’s a great bike and solid daily. It can also tour pretty well, but it’s not close in comfort to a dedicated sport tourer like this. The only 2 upgrades I did to the fz6 for touring were a shad seat and 1 inch risers, both highly recommended. I could go 200 miles with the stock seat but now with the shad I can go to 400 much easier and in more comfort. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!

I took an advance course from a Cop Motorcycle trainer and found out why the cop bike clutches were going out so fast! It's hard work, but even with my 398,000 miles on five different ST1300s, I find that for a non-cop like me, that kind of riding isn't my bag! :)

      It’s great you could take a class - I might try to pick one out in the future to learn to do this a bit more by the books. Those clutches take a lot of abuse for sure… one of the reasons I was looking at STs is that the clutches are a lot easier to swap than bmws where you need to basically split the whole bike in half haha.

    Welcome to the world of the ST1300! Sounds like you started out well at replacing/changing all that you have so far. And you are correct, you should be getting at least 40 mpg. I would check out the air filter, and run some Seafoam in your gas tank for a few fill ups. A great place to find out lots of information on the ST1300 is ST Owner's Club, online. I bought my first ST1300 back in November 2005 (new) and rode it for over 7 years and put over 174.3K miles. I sold it to one of my sons in 2013, after buying a 2004 (wrecked with 31K miles)in 2012 and then a 2010 in 2013 (wrecked with 1,500 miles). Then in 2014, I bought an other wrecked 2004. In 2015, I bought a new 2012. I was commuting 125 miles a day from 2008 thru March 2020 (when COVID19 hit). Between the five ST1300s, I put on over 396,000 miles. I sold the 2004#2 to a buddy after I put 50K miles on it. And recently sold the 2010, after putting 100K miles on it, to another of my sons. I still have the 2012 (37K miles) & the first 2004 (68K miles, putting on 37K). I have a 2006 ST1300P and a 2005 sitting in my shed in the back. I might get one of them back on the road, but I'm in no hurry, with the two running I have in the garage. There are lots of things you can do to make these bikes great tourers, one is to put a Russell Day Long saddle on it. A few years ago I did a 870 mile trip in 20 hours and no TB (tired butt). Good luck!😎

    Are you judging the gas mileage with the readout on the dash or by calculating it at a gas stop? My readout is very pessimistic. I get into the 40’s on my 2007. I kind of hoped for more, but it holds 7.7 gallons.

    • @axel-moto
      @axel-moto Před 4 měsíci

      I’m a nerd and have a spreadsheet which is where I was seeing low 30s. Agreed on the dash readout, not trusting it completely. I’ve done some work to improve it - will be shown in the next video hopefully!

    • @alanhassall
      @alanhassall Před 4 měsíci

      @@axel-moto I remember getting much better mileage in the "old days" on my V65 Sabre and other bikes. I think that with running very lean carburetors, there was only so much fuel that you would burn without them failing emissions tests. It may also be just fondly remembering the good old days being better than they really were. Today, with fuel injection and catalytic converters, they can burn more fuel and pass the emissions testing. My Concours 1400 doesn't get the mileage that I would like either. At speed on the highway, it can drop into the mid 30's. One slower highways, it gets better, but it doesn't carry over 7 gallons of gas, so fuel stops are required more often than I would like. and my Z1000 gets right at 30 mpg and it holds 4 gallons of gas. I will be interested to see what you have done.

      Great find at a great price. I think the Kawasaki's the fastest out of the 3 as well! Recommend changing those tires though lol

    Lubing the O ring prevents shearing forces that may damage the O ring

      yup! Helps create a proper seal and helps it not "bake on" to the engine when it's time to remove it. Thanks for watching

    Great video. I have a 06 st1300pa police edition as well. The ST is a super comfortable bike for those long range rides and the V-Stream windshield that you have provides great wind and rain protection. I think you'll be happy with your purchase. When I first got my ST the fuel mileage wasn't the best as well. After a new air filter, changing the plugs (iridium plugs) and running a bottle of seafoam fuel conditioner through the system, I did notice slightly better fuel mileage. You're also right when you say that bleeding the brake fluid is a bit of an undertaking. Having a second person on stand-by to help with the rear brakes was helpful. CZcamsr "GTs Garage" has some decent ST1300 maintenance content as well. Thanks for posting and I hope you enjoy many more miles on your new ride. I'm looking forward to part 2 and more.

      Thanks for watching! I'll check out that channel as well. I've already put close to 6k miles on the bike, I really like it. It's just so good at almost everything.
