Hi guys, I'm just a good old Somerset boy who's been messing around with cars and engines since I was 16 years old.
I wish that I had started this channel years ago when I had more time, patience and content!
So I'm recording the work that I'm doing on mine and my families vehicles, and other interesting stuff (I hope) for you to enjoy, learn from, or just have a laugh at!
Check us out on Instagram at larcs_workshop for sneak peaks of what's coming up.
I have to warn you that I have no formal automotive training, and have just learned by breaking stuff. If you can learn anything from my mistakes then great, but you do so at your own risk!
I hope you enjoy my channel and any constructive criticism is greatly appreciated.
CHEERS THEN.

Poi non so se bisogna cambiare la cerniera scorrevole del binario centrale?

I replaced the oil pressure switch on my daughters only about a month ago and the oil light has come on tonight and oil is again leaking from the connector but I've noticed from this video that the connector plug doesn't fit tightly and it looks like there might be a bit missing off the plug, is it easy to replace the connector itself? Thanks
@@MillerExplores . People on here have said that they've had replacement pressure switches fail prematurely too. The plug shouldn't need to hold back any oil. If it's just the plastic part that's damaged, you could probably get a replacement from a breakers yard and unpin the old one into the replacement one. Good luck sorting it out 🤞.
Nice video. I also have a question, whet torque do you appy to the hub/knuckle assemby? I had a bad experience with that as one new stud broke when I tightenend to 60 foo-pounds. I last tightenned them up to 70 foot-pound without a problem. Where do you get new original (not fake) ones? Do you ever change them when changing bearings? What is the spec of this studs as they have different markings from convetional ones, I only see the number 7 in the head so I do not have enough specs to buy a replacement innother brand. Best regards!

Thanks for this video! After the regular engine oil change I noticed aluminum shavings inside the filter. Have heard this can come from a worn out water pump. Do you think it is worth changing the water pump? Ah, my van is a T5 / 2.5 BNZ from 2009. Hope I get some answer. Thank you, dedicated people!
Wow, I'm not really sure about that. I can't remember there being much aluminium in the water pump, good luck sorting it out 🤞. Hopefully someone on here will know and post it. Come on guys help a fellow T5 owner out 👍.
@@LarcsWorkshop will take the oil sump down and see what I can notice. Thanks a lot for answering! PS: any ideas from others are welcomed. I am trying to find the source of the thin aluminum shavings...and what I can expect in regards to the life of the engine. It has 301.000 km now and it behaves like nothing happened!

@@user-qz6kt1dl7e . I don't know of a proper removal tool, they all seem to be advertised as fitting tools. Gotta love a VR6 btw👌.
Thanks for the video. I must take a look at mine. From memory though, I thought the door panel skin was riveted on mine. What a pain! Perhaps they changed the assembly process to make it cheaper for them, more hassle for me...

This haopens to me every morning recently. It starts dies i go and squeeze the bulb a bit and it startd and drives fine all day. The bulb seems fine, it was replaced along with the filter when i bought it 4 years ago. Do you think it cpuld be a the pump or a split somwhere? Thanks
@@kdt85 . Probably a tiny little leak somewhere, it only takes a very small one to allow the fuel to drain back to the tank. I would probably start by checking the fuel filter seals and vent (good time to renew the filter if it's been 4 years anyway). Good luck sorting it out 🤞.
One of the worst car money can buy. My friend cut his finger with the chrome peel, car was two months old. Year after year I almost replaced every piece of this car. Last week the door handle broke in two while I was opening the door. This car is made with shit. Don't buy!

any suggestions on how to replace/readjust that black lid from the boot handle? mine fell off just recently, have no idea how to fix it; there doesn't seem to be anything broken, it just fell off; the boot can still be opened/closed without any issue, but it looks nasty without that plastic panel
I think, having the same problem, with my 2.5 tdi 5cil.On the highway i got lights and bells warning from quantity glycol level in expension reservoir. Filled it up and two miles further same happened again.Stopped again and road assists took it home. But!! Where is the glycol going ?? No fumes no outside leaks engine ran perfect. Via the telltale drain, into the crankcase?Did you experience that too?No temp problems only low glycol warning.😮
@@pcm9656 . Mine was the same, no temperature issues just losing water. Another common issue is with the oil cooler allowing water into the oil. I think my first check would be to check for water in the oil. Is the oil level on the dipstick going up? If so, crack open the sump drain and check for water in there. Good luck sorting it out 🤞
@@LarcsWorkshop Hi thx a lot !! Dipstick is spitting engine oil and glycol full synthetic its the (almost) same stuff. Change the lube fluid, cool fluid and the pump.!

Did your car overheat? Mine did the other night and saw it was leaking from that flange
No luckily it didn't overheat, I saw the leak before.
@@LarcsWorkshop Hi just another quick one, what spark plugs do you use?
@@tristaneasterbrook7253 Sorry, I can't remember 🙄.
Did this have a code
Not on mine, no.
My one started on driverside passenger door lock and over the space of 3 yrs I ended up replacing all 4 locks. Now my Hach lock is not accepting the key but the electric is all locking and working. Just saying you will have to do the other 3 doors for sure in the next 5yrs...lol. Its a pain, but the gurage wants £300 per door to do... What a rip off.

Great video Larcs. It’s helped me change my middle roller. If anyone doesn’t fancy changing the rollers as in the kit, a brand new genuine replacement arm, all in with the rollers is £59 from Vauxhall. Not a bad price I thought.
Thanks, no problems 👍. That's a good price for a genuine part.
Good video and easy to follow thank you. Was it that the studs on the new unit wouldn't fit in the holes in the car or that the existing nuts wouldn't fit on the thread of the new unit? Would it have been possible to just use new nuts?
Thanks, yes the threads on the new unit were different. I could have maybe found some nuts but they weren't metric, so I decided to use metric bolts instead.
