Matthew Lee - Connecting CAGED ides over Liza Jane
In this little improv over the chords to Liza Jane I go thru CAGED ideas but add several other elements like minor triads and chromaticism to blend ideas into an interesting way of approaching playing over just 3 chords ( A,C and D) mostly over the A chord. In this guitar-centric Instrumental with special guest Redd Volkaert, we take you on a journey into the genre of Spaghetti Western music. Think of this song as a theme to a Western Movie that hasn't been made. Lots of telecaster, baritone, twin guitars, nylon and cinematic sound effects. Enjoy !! Recorded in Nashville Fall of 2022. Written by Matthew Lee.
Wow!!
He's a good guitar player
Ha! lol! “Stringwalker Ranch”. That had to have hit you with heavy laughter one clever night. Brilliant!
I saw Jerry live before he died. He threatened to kill the soundman. He was POd. Great show though. He had two other guitarists with him that were as good as him.
Stop walking on the vocal. Yeah I know who you are. Stop walking on the vocal that's shitty.
Beautiful stuff as per usual! 🙏🏼❤️👍🏼
Thank you Mathew for the direct no talking just playing instructions, love it.
These are the Droids I've been looking for!
Robert’s western world?
Yup
Wow, awesome. I'm going to study that one! Thanks!
Excellent!
Way cool...pex
Little bit too much jazz. Less is more... peck

Gee whiz that was awesome!!.. I always loved Stealin Corn by the Strangers.. but this is about as good!! Peck
Not bad for a biginner to listen to
Gosh...not for me...technical as hell...but hits my ear like fingernails on a chalkboard at times...and yet some really cool stuff as well.
One of my best friends knew the lead player who played on this original record. He was from Minneapolis. He was making $100K a year in the 60s as a session player which was unheard of at the time. He told my friend Harold that it was very stressful because the studios always expected him to come up with another lick as good as the one in this song. Sadly, he eventually went out in a Minnesota woods and killed himself over a woman.
I love glitter guitars. And the headstock is glitter too.
That’s like driving big fat caddy. Beautiful
Amazing! It's a pleasure and an honor seeing such gifted musicians!!! Down side is seeing something like this makes me wonder why I bother and has me thinking that I should really sell off my gear... I won't though...
Excellent stuff, well explained.
Truly magical. Phenomenal playing doesn’t mean loosing your cool or your hat 😊 Glorious playing. Thank you gentlemen! ❤
Not sure i have those notes on my guitar..
Another great lesson! What is that crook body made from? I see maple neck, budz pickups, curious about the body wood???
Awesome lesson, Matt!!!
Hank Williams wrote this song for Jimmy Dickens but when it was finished, he told Jimmy.."Its too good, Im keeping it." Lol!
Ricky Skaggs never had a hit after firing Ray Flack. What an idiot..
I met George Jone's brother in law years ago in New Albany, Indiana. He had lots of George stories..
My ears hurt from the singer..
OMG!
Is this Red Volkaerts long-lost son? 😅😅
Maybe ? czcams.com/video/MK7HLm_noss/video.htmlsi=-pj9nAHyEu5VT1pa
@@MatthewAlanLeeMusic Of course!!💯💯👍👍
Good job on the penotonicscale
Where does that stuff come from? Amazing!
My crazy ass head
I used to play that song. Not like that though! Lol!
This tune reminds me of a CD I bought last century, _Travis County Pickin'_ produced by one Jim Stringer. A fabulous CD, and well worth looking up. I can't see it on CZcams, but one of the featured players (Casper Rawls) is on a video with Redd: czcams.com/video/quVKDwSxwQc/video.html.
Wow!!😮 NICE!
Hey… That’s Great playing!! Very nice! Keep on truck’n!!😅
what gauge strings are you using?
Shout out to my buddy, Walter Hartman on the drums
Great pickin! Whats your amp/effects in this one?
Hearing some jimmy bryant in a few of those licks.
Toe-tappin'!
YAY!! Fantastic swingin’ tune. Amazing guitar work and world class rhythm by 2 of my favorites in the business! Walt and Dennis, laying it down!!
Matt, Great pickin'... My favorite sounding guitar in your arsenal is the black Crook Tele w/white binding. Can you tell me (us) some specs on that guitar [body wood, pickups, ]...
Is that Redd Volkhaert playing his Nachocaster or is that a real Blackguard? Sounds amazing, both of you btw. Many thanks.
I need that beautiful aqua telecaster in a left-handed upside down string pattern please 😂
