My name is Jim Stinnett. I have been playing bass for 50 years now - Rock, Funk, Country, Jazz, Classical, Pop, etc. I am a retired Professor from Berklee College Of Music where I taught bass and arranging for the 30 years. I have been fortunate to teach many great private students, who have made me look good. ;) Some of the more notable guys: Mike Gordon (Phish), Brent Rusinow (Allen Stone), Shane Allessio, Ben McKee (Imagine Dragons), Steve Bailey (Berklee Bass Dpt. Chair), Matt O'Donnell, Grant Stinnett, Sunder Panatella, Rob Gourlay, Jim Lambie, Charles Berthoud, et al.

I miss this guy… thanks big man
Would love this left handed
cool.
I just bought a new vintage series 1954 p-bass, and what better way to break it in than jamming on some Jamerson grooves with Jim?! Thanks for all the music. Rest easy Jim.
Now that Mr. Stinnet (Jim) is passed, its tough reading some of the comments from people he touched in various ways through his teachings. He so sincerely wanted people to enjoy playing the bass and to learn in such musical, yet academic way. These online offerings are priceless. The information you receive in the time frame given is something else. Come to think of it, Jim is not just a teacher but a coach. Dig it.
Killer playin boss
😂
If you replace the pickups from the get go then its not really an honest review now is it....
It looks like the frets are under the wood on that left bass high notes, whats going on?
RIP bro, you were awesome, and live with us all in spirit.
I'm scared to get a fretless bass because I move so damn much. My groove completely ruins the placement of my fingers
Miss you Jim. 🙏
Brilliant lesson!!
Sounds great I hope you keep making PJ fretless chambered
We miss you. Rip ❤❤❤❤❤
Wow! That was so good.
I just discovered this gentleman and am sad to learn he is no longer with us. This lesson will keep me busy for months. What a passionate style. Really makes you want to learn. Thank you.
We talk about Jim as a great teacher but as we see here he wqs a great PLAYER too. Thankyou for all of it Jim … miss ya lots.
The real deal.
RIP, Jim Stinnett 🙏🏾 Thanks for all the great lessons.
RIL Jim. Just this guys vids. You will live on here in youtube teaching.
I’m glad these lessons are still around.😊
RIP Jim. Thank's a lot From France. Your lessons are so full of god advices. I can feel long time practice.
Which tune is this from?
This was so helpful! Thank you!
Jim, you're looking down at us still watching YOUR vids! The afterlife is VERY REAL!!
To master anything it’s constant repetition.Try 10,000 hours. Jim was right
Please don't take these lessons away.
Awesome solo. Continue in your eternal rest, Brother Jim. The color combos on that bass are awesome too. Just think, now Sire is producing some bases with roasted maple necks and black inlays😊
Does guy on the right like hot sauce by any chance?
Cool, and a great simple jazz melody sound. I’m all for learning it exactly, as it was originally intended 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Good job with this lesson i am learning alot from this and the others that you do
Four and a half minutes of great musical (and life) wisdom. Best music teacher on the net, period. Miss ya big fella.
Incredible
I admire your honesty. Not many CZcamsrs admit they are making videos because the just want to talk about them selves and show off.
Fire it up! 🔥🔥🔥
These lessons are an invaluable tool for us bass guys out here! Miss you Jim!
great lesson. thanks for slowing down 1000x
rip maestro
Rip it boss man
Except the Chic Corea version Is 3 times as fast.
Hi Jim, i'm from Argentina. I'm starting to play electric bass and i want to know, how can i get the book?
Love the way Jim attacks that thing. He never does wondering. Great stuff.
Nice.Some new videos ?
Been listening to this again… just exquisite. So challenging to my understanding of what the bass is here to do. But there’s more than that: Jim’s delight in pure harmony is a joy to behold. This man was a musician’s musician, the sort of guy you want to learn from … and play with. Miss ya Big Jim… Thankyou for leaving us this priceless material. If you never looked at any other teaching videos or bought any books other than Jim’s, you would become an excellent player - and all round musician / by simply watching and DOING the Real Bass Lessons. Much gratitude for Jim’s work right here.
Absolutly love your lessons and work! Thank you for doing what you do
“You have to humble yourself and start simple …” Jim always hits the nail flush on the head.
miss you, dear Jim Stinnett! 🫶🏼My favourite teacher!
That’s probably early 70s not 60s Should be 6 digit code on the original speaker first 3 digits are the manufacturer and the last 3 year and month
“No,no,no …. if you want it you’re gonna have to DIG IT OUT!” Best advice ever.
