➤ Wishlist on steam: store.steampowered.com/app/2139180/Cosmic_Pebble ➤ About this game: Jump, double jump, and throw your boomerang to navigate a mysterious, alien planet called Pebble. Fight bosses, find collectables, and uncover secrets, while enjoying an atmospheric sci-fi story about family, disability, and perseverance. Thanks for watching!
I hope there is a reward for lowest place on the leaderboard, because, with how bad I usually am at platformers, I definitely think it's an achievable goal for me. 👍
I got you bro last place gets a piece of grass in game dedicated to them 💪💪💪
@@BlackSpeciesGames bet.
can't wait for the bread loaf mukbang video 🔥💯
I'm gonna practise so hard! I have most WR's, but I really want my name in the game!
We need to bring Noah down he's too powerful

even if the story sucks, the gameplay looks fire, and I think the gameplay can be somewhat connected. It shows what the main character is willing to go through to accomplish their goal
Found new appreciation for good stories in video games
Thank you!!

I am absolutely going to wishlist your game. I have no idea how good the story in the game is - but the story of the game’s *development* is fascinating, and I need to have closure on how it ends!
Is there a way to experience the story without playing the game? The video made me really curious, but the genre of the game is not my thing.
There are assist options in the game that can make the game as easy as you like, even making yourself invinsible, so the answer is no in the sense that you do have to play, but also yes in the sense that you aren't *really* playing. If I am able to I may also add an assist option to completely skip everything until the next cutscene, but I think that's a bit redundant since at that point you'd probably be ok just watching a youtube playthrough.
Your journey many game dev who aspire to be a writer go through. Writing seems easy, until I actually try to write a good sorry, thank you for sharing your story. I relate to it so much.
Amazing video man!!🔥🔥🔥 I love it sm
4:14 Meanwhile I am laughing in the corner as I had no coding skills for years, so there was nothing I could really do but plan. Dreaming of everything I would want in the game and details on how it would work, but no skills to prototype it. I'm glad to say that after several years and several multi-month long breaks, I finally have something that is technically functioning. (If anyone was wondering it was an rpg battle simulator. And the first guy I added into the game is immune to their own attacks. The only problem is that I can't plan out balancing.) Anyway, I also saw your video on making the story, and Cosmic pebble looks neat. Added it to my wishlist!
1. hiring Sweet Baby
I love that you made a video about your difficulties with this sort of tone and presenting what you learnt from it as a lesson, a lot of devlogs struggle with that sort of thing and I think this is really really amazing!! im 12 minutes in rn so im gonna keep watching but I just really wanted to say congrats!!!!!
super well structured vid 😎 love it 💖
you done a lot of deep diving and introspection, which is very respectable. your first attempts at writing were better than any of mine here's my tierlist *IMPOSSIBLE*: art HARD: audio AIGHT: writing, programming EZ: game design
What are people’s thoughts on DMC Series or Hi-Fi Rush? Their stories feel like stories for the sake of having a story, but I really like the characters. PS I was thinking of Spiderverse as well.
I can't speak for Hi-Fi Rush but DMC games have good stories that are also very complimentary to the type of game they are. They typically aren't considered that way because of viewer bias. Also even if they were just "stories for the sake of having a story" that's fine too. Writing is an artistic medium that exists alongside other mediums - not above them - and if an artist finds and conveys meaning elsewhere their work isn't lesser for it.
Story is just not the focus on Devil May Cry but it doesn't mean it's bad (Well, sometimes?) and some of it is told through gameplay instead of text or cutscenes so that can also be missed. Along with the things that require a lot of reading. Some things don't translate well between games, like enemy descriptions, so I think they think about gameplay and I guess the core main plot first
This slaps man cant way to play your game
Having story for a game is like making an additional game by itself.
Well you told a great story with this video, so that's promising. I've wishlisted Cosmic Pebble! Best of luck with the release!
I know exactly how you feel. Just finish it. You gotta finish it.
I don't care if hell breaks loose, it's getting finished 😤 I'm too deep to surface brother.
5:24 same here :)
Know the feeling ...
Subbed, wishlisted, will buy.
This video is super well done and impactful! I've struggled with an inferiority complex for years and this video really touched me. I even recognized Avatar's love on the kalimba from those 3 notes! You are a great writer! Take it from me, out of 200+ video essays I've watched, this is probably one of the 10 I've felt compelled to comment on. Super underrated!
Thank you, that's so kind of you to say! And I CANT BELIEVE YOU RECOGNIZED THE SONG ONLY FROM THE THREE FIRST NOTES, damn you have a good ear 🌊🌏🔥🌬️
You're a artist now thanks for a push
Hey, like for the Outer Wilds wallpaper)
The music is awesome
This is a really well written video
Mia fatsa mia ratsa
such amazing work man ! it really inspired me to push through and try to make my vision come true despite the hardship, hope you find all the success you deserve 🙏
I've been working on my own video game story for the longest time now--hitting the one and a half year mark at the time of making this comment. I think this is what I needed to really get back into writing; this was my missing piece. Thanks man, I'll have to give your other videos a watch as well. :)
wonderful video, im in the process of writting a story for a game, and i feel like these experiences are invaluable. i was thinking about writting a story cause its a game, needs a story, although is a chore, but now i realice that was messed up. its an opportunity to really bring everything to life, and make it meaningful in some way, at least to me. thanks for the video, and wish you all the luck with your game!
The fact that you were able to tell you struggle in making a story is the simple confirm that you are a great storyteller. I related to you a lot, "don't write if you don't have something to say". Good point
Its wild that "yeah that's what Marvel does with their stories" is now a huge blow to your ego instead of the opposite
aaa re kerata
I think the story is not bad, Finish the game man let us see the finish product.
Mistakes are good for learning, instead of avoid them, learn from them and try new things to fix and change your results
Trying to become a writer myself, this video was one of the more personal ones I’ve seen in quite some time. It’s nice to have someone explain similar feelings of frustration over how sometimes a piece of writing can just… not work. Stepping back to look at your own creation and wondering if it’s conceptually flawed and has just been a massive waste of time is such a dreadful feeling and being able to move foreword after takes a lot of willpower. I’ll definitely check this game out, and I’m sure I will enjoy it as it seems you enjoyed making it. This was very inspiring to me and hopefully I can make a story like yours. While I’m sure they’ll be nothing alike in terms of plot or characters, if I can make something that I truly like, warts and all, then I should be proud. Thank you 👍
I love your passion. Thank you for inspiring me today <3 I am building a world in my head as well, hopefully I can finish the story and answer the big question with yes.
Man... I really wanna thank you. I'm about to start for real my game dev career. Trying to figure out what I can start with, how to start, and learn about the problems I could have. But the hardest thing for me have been the courage to start. I don't wanna just make a game. I want this to be my life. And I'm so scared. Trying to start this. To let it be real. I'm still in college, so I've got time to fail yet, but not for long. So seeing people like you, who tried, faced the challenges, and rose victorious really inspires me. Thank you.
"is it good?" might not be the right question. "am i proud of it?" might be the right question.
Writing is my favorite part but yeah, it's rough. Good job!
Ive been working on an RPG maker project for about 5 years now. It started as a silly inside joke with my friends and has since spiraled into something much bigger than initially intended. Still not done with it, but getting there... Hearing about you taking breaks from the process to gain inspiration is incredibly relatable to me. So many times ive thought "oh god, my friends arent gonna like this game" only to be so astonished and proud of what i've accomplished when i eventually return to the project.
Thanks for the video is so inspirational and I love your image of "Squidward Tentacles" 😂
As a fellow D&D player I have to say: Each game with a double jump get's a +5 on their D8 roll! Truly one of the coolest things that has been added to gaming!
16:09 that tier list, even if it's meant as a meme, is actually true! Not only because it is, but also because each step higher requires a deep look and link into all things below it.
Completely subjective tier list, everyone will have a different one most likely but hey, glad we're on the same page 💪
Nice Video and I love your accent! Don't know what people have with British and French accents, this right here is IT! 🔥
