I was wondering if you may be able to answer a few questions I have about a lechee tree we have, I tried emailing to the email I found on your website and it came back undeliverable. I found your site on a forum online. We have a tree in our back yard, we just finally figured out that it is a lechee tree. We thought it was some type of shrub until it got very large about a year ago. It needs to be moved as it’s way to close to our oaks and robbing nutrients from one of them. I was wondering if it is possible to move one, it is about 6 feet tall and maybe 5 ft in diameter. We’re not sure if this was from a clipping as it was on our property when we moved in. We don’t know how the roots system typically is and how deep to dig as we are just now learning about these tree. Thank you for your time.

Is it the type of plant that can survive as an indoor plant? Would being potted keep it from growing to full size, or would it outgrow the pot regardless? If the former, would that also stunt the fruit-growing capabilities?

I have a young Brewster. It dropped nearly all of its leaves from the top two third of the tree, there are two leaves left on the top. The bottom third still has leaves. It is still alive on top, because the whole tree flowered, but new leaves did not grow. How do I get it to leaf out?

A few years later but this may help someone out. Litchis require moist soil, but not sitting in stagnant water. Also ensure your soil pH is around 5-5.5. Those 2 factors are quite important. Also try to protect the tree from wind. That should solve your issues.

I don't recall the ilamas ever fruiting either. The custard apple was tasty, but the one I grew at home was terrible. Don't forget the rollinia...they're delicious too...just a little snotty if you eat too slow. Guanabanas are delicious too but another shy barer and they hate cold weather. Sugar apples heaviest producer but after maybe 20 years fruit will become small.
