As a therapist, I disagree that "the worst thing you can do for a depressed patient is be nice". I work with women struggling with addiction, trauma, and mental health issues, and oftentimes, I am the ONLY person that has been nice to them. This allows them to be vulnerable and open up -- let their walls down. Confrontation in therapy is not always appropriate, and I use it sparingly.

As a therapist who work with women with comorbid substance use disorder and mental illness, some of those quotes from her therapists were alarming 😬

Maybe Roman wished to portray Carol as childlike because that's how he sees women. No surprise there at a man posing for Polanski as the only effective adult, the saviour, the real desire of Carol. Roman is as ridiculous as we could expect

I read this when it was first published hoping it was going to explain some things. Enlighten me with a reason for why I was the way I was. Instead it was tedious, self absorbed, eye-rollingly lame. She was overrated & wrongly celebrated. Her work is juvenile. She wasn't criticized for writing THREE memoirs before 40, it was that she wrote 3 memoirs that said NOTHING. Her voice is as annoying as grating as her writing was! 😂

I only went to see this film because a friend of mine was in it. I found it quite disturbing and it made me feel nervous for the protagonist.

Her kid is named bean and married 2 guys named after her dad kinda seems like she got issues from him. Also kinda seems like she got issues from you as children have been part of your brand since you were young enough for it to be appropriate. And when its not continue, to punch teenage boys?
