Great piece, but PLC seems more of a composer for concerts rather than for contests (just my personal opinion).

I was conducting a lower section band in the early 70s. By gum I wish I could have had a few lessons from this gentleman. What a master..

ive just retired after about 13 years of brass banding (rookie numbers, I know) but I keep coming back to this piece as one of the few test pieces I've ever played that I've actually been fond of. what a marvellous performance and a wonderful piece. It's all those pedal Bbs in the bass trombone that get me. Never too many.

I love this song and I love this Band. However The band must have had an 'off' day and the arrangement was terrible. to summarise. - A great song butchered.

Brilliant conductor. I am very one of lucky to have played under his leadership. I was a joy to hear the Major! We all sat and the end of our seats when pick baton up. Great memorries!
