How To Silo Apps On A 2nd Profile
Did you know that apps on your phone can see which other apps you have installed? And that apps can talk to each other and share information, without you realizing?
In this video we show you how to stop apps communicating with each other, and look at the scoped storage and sandboxing of apps in GrapheneOS, and what it does and doesn't protect against.

Secondary profiles are a great privacy tool to add to your toolbox. It's super opaque what the apps on our phones are doing, and using something like GrapheneOS really helps you reclaim your privacy by default.

Thank you, there's a lot of great tips and guidance here. The Graphene documentation glosses over this feature, and when I asked the community about it, I didn't get much advice on how to use it. It's a shame because this is a killer feature of Graphene. If I were trying to convince someone to use it, this is what I would lead with. Not the attestation, sandboxing, or other nerd stuff that only makes sense if you're already in infosec. This is a practical feature that normal people and technical people can use.

LMAO!!!!!!! This is just an Office Suite for everyday people to do documents, Not some NASA Top Secret Engineering lab Research. Why does Microsoft need to get data from Office Programs????? Microsoft is turning into a BIG BROTHER WATCHING which is Ridiculous. If I am wrong, let me know - but why are the European countries all up in arms about the Office Suites gathering data. Of course there are many other programs and services that do the same thing, probably allot of tracking to sell us other products. Windows 11, people are up in arms about the RECALL feature recording everything we do. Windows 10, which I have, Microsoft is gathering data for whatever reason, is it just for improvements, we will never know. Note: I have not used these Microsoft Office tools for quite a while. But main reason is not because of their Security issues. Nice to know Microsoft is spying on us now.

The problem with Graphene is that it only works on Google Pixel Phones. LOL That severely limits its reach and use. I have a Note 9. I love it. I use the pen and its features all the time for work and personal stuff. You simply don't get that with any Pixel phone. It might be worth it as a 2nd phone but really if I had a 2nd phone it would be a 'burner' and I would never login to any account on it that wasn't also set up as a burner account.

Hi Naomi, Idk about Braves browser. I used a tracking blocker by DuckDuckGo, and it blocked Facebook trackers on the Brave app. Now I tried out a duck duck go email alias, and know that it gets the trackers correct on its email tracking blocker, which is still in Beta. But the app tracker blocker is already ready to be used, so I think it's fairly accurate considering the email alias with email tracking prevention is accurate, and in Beta stage.

All of your videos about GraphenOS make me want to use it, enough that when I needed a new phone I bought a Pixel. But as someone without a lot of extra time or energy to fool with something, I'm still a little nervous about changing the OS on my phone and having to figure new things out. I use Linux on my computers, and these days that is very close to as simple as using a Mac, but when I first started using Linux quite a while ago, I would sometimes run into problems trying to do something that I didn't have time to deal with and it was a hassle. Anyway, one day when I am feeling like I have a little extra time and patience, I will finally try GraphenOS (or possibly a different open source version of Android). (Also, I do have a tiny worry in the back of my mind because of Louis Rossman's interaction with the developer of GraphenOS, but probably that's not really something to worry about.)

Once the whole ocean is yours. "Privacy" apps and protocols would literally be the only way to distinguish normal from targeted. Curious how these separate profiles circumvent that aspect. And does each profile use a different system layer secure dns/tls or the same system dns? Witch would make profiles not only pointless but make you stick out.
