Understanding the Light Ball Sensor- AMF training
This is an LBS off of an 82-90XLi Edge. I talked about setting it up, then went over how it works and why it works and then rambled a little bit about doing PM. Enjoy

In this video I tackle a noise complaint on a rooftop unit, not Amf pinsetter related but I’m sure some of you are in charge of your HVAC equipment as well. If you like seeing this on the channel let me know and I’ll make more videos about what else I do around the center.

It's surprising to me that after all these years the distributor on these machines is still completely mechanical and that haven't tried to roboticise it.

Anyone know where to get those brackets he used on the hinge springs? Those would be handy.

Would have been nice to include reinstall of the carpet. As it looks to be a real pain so I am looking for easier way to do it without getting the carpet edeges caught on top of the bounce plate brackets

I have 82-70 with the XLI tech. The table assembly drive came apart . Put the new one on and now the sweep is catching the pins when the scissors pick them up . The table doesn’t return to the old home position . After running a few cycles it keeps staying lower and lower to the pins on the deck. Any suggestions on what the problem is?

Wish I had seen this a Earlier, just spent a shift trying to figure out my sweep trouble last week. I even changed the gearbox before thinking to check shaft/crank arm. It had turned out to be a worn out keyway in crank arm. Awesome video, immediately subscribed 👍

You didn't unplug the motors till 18:26 ! You had your body parts in the sweep arms with power ON ! During my 50 years behind the machines I never worked on "live" machines.

Question- ( after a brief how I got to it) so I started working at a bowling alley, and they keep having problems with the sweeps getting stuck down, so we have to rest them often.. so I asked him why; he just state that the pins are off ( offset) but I don't fully believe that when it happened today several times on one lane, and several lanes. So my interest is to make these old AMC machine to run better... so Question is; is it more an oil/ grease problem then offset problem ?? Thanks for response. -Preston

Just picked up a maintenance job 3 weeks ago at a local bowling alley that’s in the process of rebuilding their name. New to bowling alley maintenance. We’re struggling with a pair of lanes that’s damaging balls. This video has helped me tremendously. I’ll keep following. Please keep posting.

Most likely cause is an unleveled track in the underground and loose screws and shit, anything u think might be causing u might want to cover it up with some foam or whatever

I love your work ethic, attention to detail and how your machines are kept so clean. @31:25 There are also mechanics who have been doing this a lot longer than you & they don't have half your knowledge & skills. I've got one such guy like this at my center. It drives me nuts how he cobbles things together, leaves tools all over the place, doesn't clean anything. 🤬 I wish I could fire him, but I'm not the boss.

I mean if the machines run great and maintained, you don’t have a problem. While for me Bowling for about 10 Years (with 2 Years of League Bowling) and trying to get a pinsetter mechanic job at my local AMF Center where our League bowls had 16 Disgrace AMF 82-90 XL’s, it’s just not great. I mean I don’t care whatsoever on anything like industry or what but my only care is reviving the Sport of Bowling itself and my Bowling League is going great but the Bowling Center Facility is what we’re struggling and that’s why I have a plan of working at that center on Poor Maintained Pinsetters, let alone we only have 1 Bowling Center left that barely runs. For some reason, I’m just kinda disappoint of pinsetter mechanics did their job right but what hurts me is I wish these guys would bowl like a pro on any Sanctioned Bowling League Tournaments or on the PBA Tour cause it could double their earnings of money and also maybe have a great time while Bowling and meet new friends.

I wanna work at my one and only Local Mall Bowling Center in my hometown but they had 16 junk 82-90 XL’s and their 3 Mechanics aren’t maintaining nor cleaning them. I would rather work on their pinsetters STRICTLY by shut down like 4 Lanes at a time for adjusting and checking cause I’m a League Bowler and you don’t see that much Pinsetter Mechanics in Bowling Centers that bowls professionally during their Practice or League Night. Plus I want to give a better experience for League Bowlers, I don’t care for Open Bowlers cause our League bowls at that center all the time nowadays after our original home got burned down which was a 24 Lane Brunswick Center in another mall that had junk Brunswick GS-92’s and crappy Brunswick AS Scorings but at least their service were great and they made a ton of money for hosting fun tournaments to bring people into Leagues or the Sport or Bowling and they have plans replacing some of their equipment like the Brunswick AS Scorings for Brunswick Vector and recover their 6 Dead Lanes (or Lanes that were failed to be repaired) but never saw the light cause it’s in the inferno, man good times with that place being great than the lazy AMF house today with lack of promoting leagues but at least they let us host. When I see their junk 82-90’s, I kept saying that I wish these were cleaned or have Brunswick instead of AMF cause I expect proper maintenance and also I’m an huge fan of Brunswick from Bowling Balls to Pinsetters and Brunswick had Pinsetter Enthusiasts or Pinsetter Fans in one small community here on CZcams that made Mini Bowling Alleys that were based or copied from Real Brunswick Pinsetters, nobody made Mini AMF Pinspotters today here on CZcams.

The deadpoint of the sweep is on spot 2-3 not the 4-5-6. Its more easy to pull the gearbox off the shaft in that position😉💪

  • @Yosh-doesnt-understand

Nice vid. You should try the clutch lube A.M.F. has. I used oil for years. Then I decided to give that lube a shot. It keeps the clutches lubricated for 6 months at my center (24 lane, medium lineage). Been using it for about 3 years now. It has cut down on replacing worn pinion gears and clutch plates. All I have to do is grease the stop blades once a month between cleanings.

If so let me know I would like to do a video with you on showing how to do the proper techniques and why it is critical to check them.. keep up the good work.!
