One amazing thing when you’ve been in the skating fandom since a decent amount of time is day after day witnessing the double standard people (so called fans) are applying on Russian skaters, and just women that do « men tricks » in general. Because I’ll say it once and for all, and I’d like people to remember it, but : NO NEED TO LOOK FOR THE 4 5 QUADS IN A SEASON TO BRING DOWN ONE RUSSIAN SKATER BAD TECHNIQUE, JUST LOOK AT THE OVERALL TRIPLE JUMP TECHNIQUE IN ALL THE WOMEN FIELD NOWADAYS. Few, now that we’ve done this, what’s worst ? A common prerotated and underrotated triple flutz by a Japanese or a Belgian skater or a not so prerotated and fully rotated quad by one of the only bold skaters brave enough to take that risk ? Almost 100% of the technique critique on social medias is about quads, as it just proves how people are unhealthily obsessed with them (and biased against Russians in general). But when you point out to them the same flaws on their favorite skater basic triple jumps in comparison, they suddenly bury their head in the sand. Yes people, you see flaws where you want to see it. Nobody criticize men’s flaws, nobody criticizes non Russian skaters flaws. And oh man there’s a lot to say.

I kind of disagree with the analysis for Anna, she seems to have shifted to a flat edge after picking, and almost the entire blade was touching the ice. As she got up to the senior ranks, her lutz shifts to an inside edge, which was rarely, or even never called out. Sasha maintained her outside edge after turning senior and uses more toepick than in this video, only thing is that she still prerotates a lot

Aliona's technique is actually so much better than most of the Eteri girls, even though her lutz edge is quite inconsistent, she only uses her toe pick in her toe jumps and usually has the least amount of prerotation, which makes her jumps look easy and crisp compared to someone like Anya and Kamila who have massive prerotations and a full blade takeoff. One thing I have to say is that even though Sasha also has major prerotation problems, she's able to maintain a very obvious outside edge for her lutz despite that, whereas most skaters would've automatically shifted to an inside edge because they're prerotating. I hope she comes back stronger with her new coach, and I hope to see Aliona become competitive in pairs

alina doesn’t have a FULL blade takeoff but it’s certainly not a toe tap

i don’t see an issue with the dutch judge’s strictness as long as they are consistently strict. It would be good to see better components in programs so I don’t think that’s an issue.

my favourite quads are kamila’s. her technique is quite consistent, and her quads look so elegant and effortless and not just pure jumping when she does it. however, alysa liu’s quads look very stable and satisfying to watch. Alexandra’s are very technical and great

Rika has performed ultra-c elements and has textbook technique yet somehow is always just off the podium. She deserves better. Judges overlook horrible jumping strategies and hardworking skaters pay the cost.

Under the rules, you can't deduct for poor take-off based on slo-mo. It has to be visible in real time. Not sure it is in most cases.

Flutz aside, Medvedeva deserved her gold. She's one of the most beautiful skaters in the world

They should finally ban quads and you were being quite nice with some of the judging points as a lot of these skaters have full-bladed assist and pre-turn their bodies -> not good technique. Yes I want to encourage these girls to be good skaters, but quads don't make a good skater.

So both of them left the ice with 1/2 rotation. Wait, how much pre-rotation is allowed for Lutz? From what I see, Anna had a flat edge while Sasha was clearly outside edge. I think both of them used the whole blade to assist the jump.

Sascha is a true Olympic champion. Her 4 lutz is my favourite among all scaters. Lets do quints Sascha, i cheer for you

Rika herself recognized that her strength is her technique which unfortunately is negligible nowadays as a lot get away with poor technique and still gets sky-high GOEs 🙃

Loopz as always

Well as a skating fan these Ladies does not impressed me neither those who does low quality jump. I think that the judges should revise their manuals for scoring low quality technique's shouldn't be awarded like this. I have been a fan but after kim yuna retirement honestly i want to see a good jumper, technique's, skills, emotion, and artistry. Some ladies are good but i hope in future there is someone whose worth to watch.

She judged these girls so poorly, saying they had “shaken landing” just because it wasn’t “effortless” . I really hate it when people judge this even though they have no idea of what they are doing

Lol when she was very very young she had already had deep outside edge lutz, but…! Her flip was outside edge too (wrong edge).Because her lutz has already been deep outside again( for abt 1.5 yr , her “shallow lutz edge” time was actually very short) and she also got an correct edge flip for sure, I believe this video clip was just from the time when she was learning correct edge for flip and it affected her lutz.Glad that she fixed them.

At least she once had a true lutz, not like Medvedeva

Rika and Liza have the best Lutz! Kaori is one of my favourite skaters and she has a flutz, hence the edge calls. It's very hard to correct. FYI: A flutz is a Lutz using an inside edge.
