Excellent and very thorough preflight video. You explain everything very well and the video is very well done.
Very informative - and nicely communicated. Thanks!
I am a student pilot practice stalls and they will only allow me to drop 100 feet from a power off stall. I am getting ready for my checkride. I was doing the power off stalls and staying within 100 feet.
whats with the gloves?
Great and interesting presentation-noticed the 747 parked behind you at 13:38 … is she still flying?
Thanks! No there is a museum there, you can walk around in it but it has been parked for a long time.
Thanks
Very clear. Nicely done.
Excellent, thank you for posting, really helpful learning, make some more vids!
Thank you for taking the time to show us this! I have a Piper flight coming up and I've never flown one, so finding your channel has been a life saver!
good vid good idea. . do more pls.. show do Stalls... just flying live flying .. takeoffs, landings of diff tyoe.type.. Fly thru a cloud... show some ifr instr stuff thxx.. new Sub
Hey man!!! Greetings from panama🇵🇦 I just recently started my flight training and this video has come in handy in a way you can’t imagine!!!! Today was my third flight and i was a little bit nervous about my preflight since my instructor told me on the first flight how to do it and from flight 2 it was up to me to do it alone Today went great thanks to you!!!
an EXCELLENT preflight, very well done and cheers from NZ
Thank you.
3:04 lol 747 photo bombing.
Glad i am not the only one having my left hand struggle a bit as I pull back and needing a bit of help from the other hand to get it to stall.
Love the way u explained it
As an aircraft owner, and engine owner, please be less than generous with FULL RICH mixture. Full rich fowls plugs and carbons up an engine. Honest, your engine will love you longer. It is one of my things in my Lycoming powered Arrow II.
good job
That was really worth watching. I’ve been flying one of these for only 2 hours now and have my 3rd on Friday . The way it’s done is just as my instructor showed me on my first ground school session. Many thanks. I haven’t looked yet but do you do a taxy in the piper?
Haven't done a video on taxi yet, because there is not that much to show really. Steer with your feet, don't hit anything :-)
Fantastic review. I also check the oil return connection near each cylinder. These tend to not get tightened correctly and work loose.
Thanks! Good one
Very good avionics upgrade 👍🏻 👍🏻
Well explained mate 😊 👍🏻 👍🏻
Thanks 👍
One thing I've noted in seeing a few of your videos is that you are very abrupt with your throttle movements. I was taught not to do that because your engine can cool too quickly, Metal expands when it gets hot so in cooling the outer engine (via the cooling fins) The cylinder walls get tight (the cylinders shrink) against the pistons which are still enlarged from the heat. Throttle movements (particularly in removing power) should be done over a period of time. Remove power down to 25% or so and in 30 seconds or so you should be able to safely take it down to idle. In cold weather or lower temperatures (maybe even due to altitude) this is particularly important and, the mentioned 25% power for 30 seconds cool down should maybe be extended to one minute. Don't believe me? Ask your mechanic. Be safe my friend! Robert
Cooling as a source of engine damage is a myth: www.avweb.com/ownership/shock-cooling-time-to-kill-the-myth/ Of course you should move the throttle smoothly to avoid mechanical stress from yanking things around. But that's only a case of taking 3 seconds instead of 0.5 to fully open or close the throttle. Not 30 seconds.
@@FromtheHangar Thanks for the reference material. I choose not to believe it though. Truly though Thank You for your reply.
Great video I'm a PA28 pilot and was always wondering what is happening if you ignore the warning horn :)
Not so much in the PA28, but don't try this in some other types... They'll bite you
Can this video be applied to the Piper P28 cadet I recently just started pre-flight inspections and I want to memorize where each step is the best way possible
They're nearly the same, so you can follow the same approach
I could not be a pilot 😂
you dont use flaps for power off stalls?
We teach multiple combinations, clean, approach and landing configuration, full stall or recover at the first indication of the stall, and recovery with and without power. It's up to the examiner to ask for the combination they want to see, so we practice many different ones. And also in a climbing and descending turn, those are also exam options.
Full flaps are used for power off stalls in the PA-28 series of aircraft.
Tanks a lot , nice video
Glad you liked it!
excellent video
Thank you very much!
quick question regarding the strainer drain shouldnt it be drained 2 times since the fuel selector has Off/L/R so one at a time?
Yes if you follow the expanded checklist from the POH they tell you to do it twice, once for each tank. In practice advice varies from not checking it at all (I think that's not a good idea, there could be something wrong in the gascolator), checking one side, or indeed checking both. A reason sometimes given for not checking it at all is that having it stuck open can cause engine issues as well. So considering that, do check that it closes property after draining, even a little drip is an issue. And if you want to be thorough check with both sides.

Very nice training style.
Thanks! Great to hear
NEVER NEVER NEVER touch a heated Pitot! JESUS!
How else to check it?

Wearing nitrile gloves? Covid?
Indeed, we had to use gloves for a while when renting planes. Luckily not anymore.
Very nice piece! Thank you.
Glad you like it!
Great video thank you
Tnx!
This has been the best and most informative flight instruction video I've seen, just gained a new subscriber
Thanks!
What's up with the gloves? I've seen a few instructors doing this.
It was mandatory for a while at the beginning of Covid, we also had to disinfect the aircraft after each flight.
Hi mate I am a beginner pilot pa28. Is there anyway to contact you to get help about check list about everything inside the cockpit from left to right? Thank you
Hi! Sure, what would you like to know? What most students find helpful is to get a picture or poster of the cockpit to practice with at home.
@@FromtheHangar That was a great idea. I have never thought about that Thank you very much I loved your video honestly it was mint
Very nice video class!!! Congratulations Captain 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Thanks!
Thx for all, video for start up procedure ,
great thanks
Another great video.... you're a great instructor, thanks so much for all your informative videos. They're really helpful for newbies like me 😁👍🛩️
Good to hear, thanks!
Great, inspirational video! One day this will be me.......... eventually 😏
Good luck! Have you done any training yet?
@@FromtheHangar Hey... I've had a couple of lessons, don't have a dedicated trainer yet though
You should never leave the electrics on. Especially if you are going round the front of the aeroplane. What you should do is your non electric checks first and then turn on your electrics and get someone to help you. ATC would usually tell you if your taxi, nav and landing lights are not working. You should also never walk around the front of an aircraft if it is not yours for example what if you have a deaf person with you, they don’t see you walk around the back, that aircraft starts and gets ran over.
"You should never leave the electrics on" - how do you check stall warning? walking around takes 2 minutes, there is no substantial battery drain in so short time, and if there is you need to replace your battery asap. There is a risk the engine could start if you move the propeller, but has nothing to do with electrics being on. The engine could fire if there is a malfunction on magnetos grounding circuit, but that is usually checked at the end of powering down.
Indeed, engine start on a typical GA plane is due to the ignition not the electrics. But @Cameron's concern is a valid one, props are dangerous, so it's good to take the keys with you before doing a walkaround.
Thanks for this, great video and very informative. Don't pay attention to the negative comments, some people get a kick out of bringing others down. Rise above it.... I'm just a newbie and had my second lesson in a Piper PA28 on Friday there so having access to content like this is invaluable and most definitely gratefully received by those who appreciate the time and effort you have put into making these videos in the first place. Keep it up! Happy flying! 😊🛩️
Thanks! Great to hear it is helpful for you
Very good job thank you!

It’s the only thing that scares me when flying.
What's the part that scares you?
@@FromtheHangar just landing in general, drifting to the side to much, hard landing, etc
