I feel compelled to say how impractical the Solar Buddy is. You still have to rub in the sunscreen to be effective -so it’s pointless repackaging. 🙄

I suppose the main upside of living somewhere that summer = rain is that none of this would be any use to me, and therefore I can't be influenced to buy any of it. Ah, Scotland. 🤣

I think a big reason why it is a problem that influencers are not always transparent about the products they make money off of (through affiliate links or sponsorships) is because product promotions have become entertainment. When you're watching TV it is very obvious when the program ends and the ad starts, and you kind of tune it out. Not saying it's not still influencing you but it's distinctly separate from the entertainment. Ad companies try to make ads entertaining, and some of them are, but other than watching a superbowl ad compilation, no one is sitting down to watch TV ads. But on tiktok, the algorithm feeds you videos AS ENTERTAINMENT and half of them (I am assuming. I don't actually use tiktok. But based on how prolific influencers and these types of videos are, I'm assuming it's a lot) are selling you something. And with tiktok shop, tiktok gets a cut of the profits so it is in their best interest to feed their users advertisements cloaked as entertainment. I do see some entertainment value in influencer videos as like escapism - someone who can't afford that stuff and wishes their life was aesthetic can watch those videos and imagine what it would be like to live like that. But the thing that goes along with that lifestyle is selling it - influencers influence people to want to become influencers. And so when they save up to buy something cool they make a tiktok about it. (which I understand. I love writing product reviews to share my thoughts. But not everyone can do that as a career)

Spray-on sunscreen does exist, I use it because I hate the feeling of sunscreen on my skin. I spray it on and then use the back of my hand or my arm to rub it in. Solved!

Something I worry about is if she keeps it past it's shelf date eventually the plastic is going to degrade + either break or do something funky. Not to mention whatever is INSIDE of them + potential for mold underneath 💀

I traveled a lot for work and found a passport holder to be really useful. It keeps my passport, airtag, covid vaccine card, internaltional drivers licence, other vaccination documents (typhoid, rabies, yellow fever, etc), printed e-visas, and other documents all in one place. However, this is a special use case for someone who spent 30% of their life traveling internationally. Someone shouldn't need to travel with all these documents all the time. When the average traveler asks if they should get a passport holder I say no. When I'm out for the day and need to take my passport I take it out of the passport holder beacuse it's too bulky.

candles that people feel are too cute to burn make me sad :( it has then lost its purpose, if it never gets burned! if you want a little figurine, buy a ceramic or plastic one. because at that point you want a sculpture or figurine, not a candle.

Also the customs people and TSA make you take your passport out of the holder to check it, so it's literally pointless. But I still have an old one I've never replaced or gotten rid of. Also, in Macedonia and probably other places, you have to show your passport when you check into a hotel, so they can notify the embassy of your home country that you are there. My friend who lives there explained when I visited and was confused, that this is to try to prevent human trafficking. Not sure about other countries, but it is a thing.

I got a Stanley as a Christmas gift and I actually love it for work. I’m in the car driving for most of my day and just being able to stop wherever and refill my water is super convenient. Plus my office doesn’t have a water fountain so I like that it holds a lot so I don’t have to worry about long days in the office without water on the days I’m actually in an office.

I would die if all my things (ESPECIALLY MY FRIDGE) had everything organized and sorted into these plastique dividers and containers. Yes, everything has its own spot and place in my fridge, during restocking it goes there again or I rearrange the fridge to a way I like, by just PLACING it in the fridge. I cant stand like, PERMANENT fixed places.

Ive read people explain before that this content can often appeal to those who grew up with extreme poverty. Where you never had variety or excess. Growing up only having generic "all-in-one" body/hair wash from the salvation army as your ONLY option can make seeing dozens of soaps and scents appealing. However I can see the opposite being true too (this is just me assuming) that coming from poverty seeing such excess and waste infuriating and offensive Disclaimer: I am only reiterating what I've read about overconstmption, I am fortunate to not have experienced that level of poverty so I am not speaking from experience.

I recently did a massive declutter on my house. It's so easy to buy too much in our world. The horrifying sauerkraut can that was badly corroded and very light weight was enough message for me. My new rule is that I have to be able to see it all, and it all has to fit in the space. So one backup...when the original gets low. And enough stored to survive a few days during a blizzard. I also really like original containers because then I know at a glance what it is. It is handy to put some of these original containers in something: an opened bag of rice goes in my old flour container so it doesn't spread rice around the cupboard. Putting flour in it just added a layer of complication. But a video like this is satisfying because it has the kind of order that the view of my bags of flour in the cupboard do not give me. I'll never have that kind of order in my house, and honestly don't want it. Videos like that are nice when I'm cleaning...though here I am watching yours as I clean my nicely decluttered living room. As I dream of a perfect living room, I deal with my elderly furniture, lack of any trim, and human objects. My house will never feature in a magazine!

This should also be counted as addiction, addiction isn't only about drugs, it can be anything, and it gets worse if she's getting payed for it. This is promoting addiction, making it seems that is okay to do this, it isn't people don't realize this

Obviously, everyone's taste is different, but that "bag" is the ugliest thing I've ever seen😂 It looks like a wobbly laundry basket. Also because it doesn't have a top that secures my belongings I wouldn't even call it a bag, let alone tip-proof. Waterproof is also a stretch since it doesn't protect anything you put inside it from water. I guess if you have kids and take a lot of toys to/into the water this could make sense, but any plastic bucket/basket could serve that function, or even a lightweight canvas bag that dries quickly after it gets wet. The cooler that serves as a side table is hilarious too. Can't you put your drink on top of almost any cooler? Isn't it annoying to remove your drinks from your "side table" every time someone wants to grab a drink? Maybe you're supposed to use it as a side table the other 11 months of the year when you don't need a cooler? But I'd rather have a normal table instead of the big plastic monstrosity that looks very easy to tip over when it's empty. I also have no idea what towel clips are for, but I suspect they're another "solution" to a made-up problem (and they look ugly, unnecessarily bulky, and easy to break😂)

i think some things can be practical- and used in moderation (ie toilet seat covers because lots of places don’t have them, or something like soap strips to have in your purse or car just in case). the organizational stuff is a bit ridiculous, though i have minimal kitchen/bathroom space and i’ve gotten a couple of things that help me maximize the space i do have. ultimately i definitely agree that nothing is a must have, and wished people saw that many of these items are just not practical for daily use or even for occasional use for that matter.

I think a change of seasons gives me an excuse to buy too much but all I need is 3 pairs of shorts.😢

I used to buy shitloads of random pens and would end up throwing out 90% of them, however! I found the pilot frixion clickers and I’m obsessed. I never order in bulk but I got a pack of six on Amazon and used them all to completion. I recycle the barrels too! Even better though - I’ve since found you can buy ink refills for them and have used three so far 😂 when you love it you love it and the volume option is useful in THAT case - but not usually!!

I think the whole thing explempifies the "you have to buy things to participate" idea that you mentioned, when that is simply not true.

I know this is an older video but I've been binging these😂 I'll admit I have a Soia and Kyo puffer coat on my wishlist, but it's a long coat that I want (to cover my legs). I'm a teacher and I want a warm coat when I'm on outside/bus duty in the winter. But, in my part of Canada (east coast) we don't go much below -30 very often. I probably don't need one though, I'm still rocking my very out of date Canadian Goose coat from many years ago.

I think people should rethink the idea of double edged razor blades. All metal, I bought a good brand of blades for my face on sale years ago, 1,000 blades for $10. Put a slit hole in a can of broth when you cook with it, rinse it out, and you have a safe container to dispose of those blades and the can and blades are…100% steel so they can be tossed in the recycling bin (with duct tape covering the slit just in case)

For the passport holder, it really does depend. If you are going to a country where you have to worry about pick pockets I can see you putting you important cards in it and keeping it hidden ( like hanging around your neck under a shirt or sweater if it's cold). Tho there is probably a better and cheaper option out there than the one shown. Hopefully, media literacy becomes more common, and ppl will stop falling for buying gadgets one day lol

I find your perspective so helpful! I will say for travelling that carrying my passport with me at all times while in my destination feels more secure, but I think that’s personal preference. That bag makes me so angry though lmao

I used to work in a university and we had a scheme similar to some of the ones you mentioned - any kitchenware (pans, cutlery, plates, etc.) that had been left behind in student halls was collected, washed, and offered for free to new students :)

As someone with neurodivergent sensitivities, I hate applying and touching certain things with my hands. I know the sunscreen applicator isn’t necessary, but seeing it as a sensory ick preventer it would get use. Especially for someone who wears sunscreen compulsively. No I’m not buying it, I’m just stating it’s a good idea

The last time I used a passport cover at the airport the attendant had to take my passport out and hand it back to me. You’re better off, just carrying all your essentials in a pouch that you probably already own along with your passport.

I'm glad you're demonstrating how to talk yourself down from an impulse purchase. Too many silly little objects really feels choking and then there's so much waste.
