I'm kinda suprised nobody gets Metallic City. If you go out of your way to look around the city and explore, you'll find MUCH MUCH more than you expect. It's filled with Easter Eggs and platforming sequences. And when you're done, you go through the tunnel which completes the level. Sure, it's definitely not what I and many others want from an SRB2 level. But it really stands out in a different way, good or not.

Shin Ultraman really got me into the series lately. Ultra Q is a fascinating little thing even if it's very outside of the realm of Ultraman, but the original show is an absolute charmer. Shubaraya was a master of his craft despite the budgets. Glad to see you branching out from SRB2, much as I loved it

I think you'll be back when the game finally decides to be finished. I agree with the community with the community being shitty. They're stubborn and all about themselves. The community been downhill since the owner of the game left and some of the top dogs been banned with their allegations. Much as I want to play the game again, it just haven't been easy. Our feelings and criticisms won't change anything. The team are not for not paid for the development of the game or to care about what anyone has to say and I learned that since 2005.

while i disagreed with alot of your previous arguments about the thok (a little harshly too, to be honest) i completely see where you are coming from with everything in this video. i myself dont really do too much with the community, apart from host netgames and talk to a few small modders, but the few people i have interacted with in discord servers (not any modders they are cool people) can be unbearable sometimes, every point you say in this video about general people i can agree with, and it is probably worse in the official discord too (although i never talk there, so i cant confirm) to the point where i just left every srb2 related server im in simply because the community is hell sometimes.

I am on the side of keeping the thok and all but imma be honest, this whole thing started because some people had a major skill issue with using the thok and had the nerve to say that they want it to be changed.

Can they atleast make the multiplayer easier or something because portforwarding and vpns just never work and I want a simple co op with friends

The thok was already such a versatile ability letting you gain speed, jump long gaps, and save yourself from launching yourself and falling into a pit. The thok was a hard ability to get accustomed to but once you learn how to use it right it becomes such a great ability to use. Idk you can replace it all you want but at least allow returning players to toggle the thok on or off.

I like hearing about communities and their stories like this. It sounds like SRB2 was really fun in the 2000s when it was smaller and the early 2010s when you started, i really wish i'd been there. I honestly apreciate you speaking out like that because i have been in some very similar communities to the current SRB2 one and i don't know what it is but something just keeps me from realising the community kinda sucks until someone else says it. Have fun with whatever else you make, if it's gaming related i'll probably stick around.

Vanilla SRB2 will always have a place in the community, becuase SRB2 inhearently is a fun game with amazing gameplay, it masterfully adapts the Classic Sonic gameplayloop into 3D, Sonic doesnt really need a diverse moveset like Mario in SM64, cause his abilities already let him explore the sprawling levels

I've been part of the community for about a year and, god damn, I see your point now. I never really contributed or talked within' the community but from what I saw when I looked over conversations it was...no...the game itself is good, but like many other fangames, the community gives it a terrible reputation.

i havent watched the video yet but imo sonic must always have some way of creating instant momentum obviously a spindash but the thok feels like a spindashes younger brother and in all honesty i prefer to be able to just jump and boom im going fast

first of all: what do you mean the thok makes sonic get outclassed by other characters? the thok can BE CRUCIAL in speedruns because of the momentum it carries on slopes, you can scale heights using the momentum of the thok, and that's what i know despite only beating the game with Sonic one time
