It was the “living room war” on TV news every evening when I was a kid. The Tet Offensive, Mei Lei Massacre & more. I am haunted by the tale of the helicopter tail gunner “We came in low & hot, tail toward the trees”. Last month I saw a tribute to a local Viet Nam hero @ The Peoria Riverfront Museum. The display showed pictures of him as commander of a tank division in the jungle. They were ambushed & pinned down behind enemy lines. He called for air support & the caption read “Dump everything you’ve got & kill them all”. He made it back but a lot of his guys didn’t. That’s what I call painting it black. My grandad fought in vietnam he said it was bad but never told us much now I see why war and our world are fucked

my grandfather was french and lived in south vietnam b4 the war he stayed when the war started but fled when he said he saw american soldiers gunning down farmers working in there rice fields i dont know why the vietnemese are painted as the "bad guys" they were just people defending there homeland
