Short one minute forty second video of my favorite truck in the Art Robinson Truck Museum - Salina, Utah. Home to the annual September ATHS Rocky Mountain Chapter. This beautiful rig is a wonderful example of a truck used in the lumber trade in the 1950s and 1970s. Restored by master restoration expert Bruce Thomas and purchased by Art Robinson.

This "Safety Story" documents what needs to be done during a Hazmat spill. It uses a real incident to establish an order to be used to mitigate the situation. Roadway Express driver Steve Redman appears in this story about a spill that happened during one of his runs. Good Job Steve!

I first met Kevin Cimmiyotti and his wonderful Peterbilt 281 at the annual Redwood Chapter show in Napa California about three years ago. I was absolutely taken back by Kevin's truck. The first 3 or 4 photos and the first video scene are from that show. Kevin did an outstanding job of describing his truck and some of it's history in this video. I felt very privileged to be able to record and pr...

Whoever made the decision to capture this on video. I’m glad they did. Great piece of trucking history captured.
I worked the docks for 2 months before they closed. (Bridgeview ill.) there's and old 48 foot CF trailer on 79th. and roberts road parked in a dock right on roberts
I remember the freightliner cabovers when they were running 903 Cummins engines and the spicer 6 speed's
It’s a shame Roadway is just a memory now
Union killed many trucking companies.
Those were good trucks back then. I even love the old B-Trains. Are these ones A-Trains or B-Trains? Anyway, those are beautiful trucks. I know the yellow is Golden Yellow. But what is the darker color? Black or Dark Blue? Still awesome video. Thinks for posting this. Keep on trucking.
The ending of the video where CF-1 is traveling makes me a bit sad with the background music. What a great company destroyed sadly.
Roadway truckers cannot exceed the speed limit. Passing other trucks are an all day event.
Back when all of us drivers were young and thin do a job go party if people were friendly with one another miss those days😊
The Great Depression thank you Cabal !
What is the name of the big trucking company that recently went bankrupt?
Roadway was bought by yellow freight which went into bankruptcy ?
Thanks so much for sharing this. I have some old VHS from Santa Fe I picked up at a train show. I need to digitize it and load it on here someday.
Yellow kills trucking companies
What happened to this company should be illegal.
I viewed this about 2-3 years ago and will probably enjoy watching it again in another 3 years if fortunate to still be here. History is all over these old films, beginning to end. It's great that technology has enabled such access to so much, as well as film restoration capabilities. Only, it's a bummer sometimes, to come to the realization of how old I'm getting when I see the 'old videos' have things shown in them that were brand new to me at one time.
FACTOID- WAS A LEADER
Back in the day😁
Back when they had Chicago ridge
👍🚛🚛🚛🚛👍👍💪💪💪💪
I worked for Roadway the last 5 years of my career, retiring in 2007. Worked for most all the LTL lines of the day during my 30 years. I hate to say it but Roadway was definitely the worst company that I ever worked for. Management was trained to be assholes and became very proficient at it. They couldn’t care less if you were a go getter or a deadbeat and constantly instigated discontent among employees. I was there when Yellow bought them out and thinned out the dead weight in management, especially at the end of the line terminals. Appreciated having the job, it’s just that they didn’t appreciate the job that most of their employees did. That’s my experience with Roadway coming off of working for Consolidated Freightways for 13 years until their closing in 2002.
The older freightliner in the video i BELIEVE had a 400 Cummins in it
Not big on raising the landing gear down there I noticed 🇨🇦
I have a good friend who started with Roadway in 1966. I'm a Gen-Xer, and got my CDL in 2000. He's been decent enough to share the rich history of trucking THEN with me, and never held me in any kind of contempt as a steering wheel holder. He's a superb ho scale model builder, and I have many of his creations. I've been lucky enough to have a few guys like him from that era as friends.
I did this with this company since 1988 was with them until Yellow stepped in and bought them another company ruined by yellow Freight so sad😢
And as being a driver there since 1988 my first trip was to Chicago I didn’t think I would make it until retirement well I did I retired after 32 years of service at the age of 62 through the good times and bad times. It was a great company to work for. They never asked for anything back. Then Yellow stepped up and bought us I just knew that was a very bad idea the company turned to crap all Yellow wanted was give backs to line there pockets. Yellow Freight just run us in the ground it became a company not caring about their employees or customers and only cared about themselves so sad a great company like Roadway Express was ruined by a underdog company as Yellow. It was a pleasure working for Roadway as a driver for 32 years I am thankful that I made it to retirement with such a low class trucking company as Yellow Freight 😢
А зачем 2 палки на старых грузовиках ?
Fast forward to 1996 then 2002.
When they started nonunion branches of CCX and the like. The handwriting was on the wall.
Look at them yard dogs go! Now days you have to put some dog food on the ground to get them to do their job and hostle trailers.
Why didn't they just call it "Orange" ? Why call it *Yellow* when the color is *Orange* ?
falling flags
My Dad worked as a Teamster with them from 1985 - 2002 in Oregon. He won many awards and was a great worker. Still remember sitting on his lap in the older cabover that he let me steer around the yard when I was 3 years old. Also remember going camping and fishing with many of the CF families from Oregon growing up in the 1990s. Great people and memories
Great video about a great truck! I'm a model builder and would like to build one of these early Kenworths. Unfortunately, here in Germany - and also on the English-speaking Internet - I can't find important reference values for this. Are you able to identify three measurements that I need? I would need the width of the cab at the back, the overall width of the vehicle at the height of the front fenders and the height of the doors. I am thankful for every help!
Mister farmer you would have got more satisfaction in the end by milking your cows
Company propaganda film for the forsaken CF employees.
YelloW tribute...😢
Too bad the company closed up shop.
And to further show their gratitude right back, they screwed over everyone who worked for CF and shut the doors and padlocked the gates.
Must have been a good time when CF wasn’t being asshole to the teamsters and Vice versa… to think 10 years later…. Everyone got screwed. I also like the sun glasses during the speech it’s like they are mobstas
🧐 all that bull shit for them to just shut there doors !! They needed a better accountant Pretty sad there all snakes when it’s all said n done Greed is the keyword
Those trailers and truck are probably in some farm field on the side of the highway.. all faded
Good ole days
50 weeks run in the red to run red 2 weeks of every year is why they’re no longer around.
My dad worked for CF for over 20 years, my dad was a diesel mechanic . He warned the guys in the shop that it was going to happen. My dad opted to retire 2 years early because he seen what was going on. I know he was upset how the company treated the guys on the shutdown. But when i ask my dad how was it working for CF and my dad always says they were a good company to work for. He is in his late 80s living off the pension he earned while working for them in the Portland shop. All i know is i had a good life growing up, i never went without. Just sad to see how it all went down, to bad.
Didn't they just go tits up???
Back in the good old days when you came to the terminal and picked up your rig and load pre assembled and paperwork ready
I almost forgot about this company what ever happened to them did they go bankrupt? reminded me of yellow freight trucks.
Thank you for posting!
