Good morning Alec . Nice to see that you are catching well on the sedges I introduced you to and a lovely wee video to boot . I’ve never got into this video making malarkey but I see Steven Spielberg has a competitor 😉. You have done a good job brother and almost to the recipe . These have got to be my very best dry flies I have ever invented , ‘for want of a better word’. As you rightly said they catch fish all over the country and have worked well on the big Irish Loughs and over the pond in the States too . More or less I fish them from late spring when fish start feeding on the top right through to early winter . No need to wait to see rising fish as they bolt up anytime of day to grab them as you showed in the video at the beginning. I have a photo step by step illustration should anyone wish to have a go in addition to your video you have so kindly made . PS …. Just won a fly tying competition with this fly and won a ton of tying materials 🎣🎣🎣👌👌
Thanks David , since you showed me the fly a few months ago I have been out to my local lakes and had some action on it , the trout have been coming up smashing it off the surface, it's exciting when they are bow waving after the fly and the grab it , lovely way to fish. Hope to fish up with you in the next few weeks 🐕🎣🐟

Nice fly, no problem with sound or accent. I have to say I rather like that the camera is a little further away. I get a better sense of the scale, and so size, of the fly. Anyway, greetings from the very south west of Canada. Tight lines!
Thanks Wayne , that's much appreciated, it can be hard to get the scale of the fly from videos, my NOTHING dry fly is small , size 18/20 but people still tie it too big . I always try to show the hook type and size as I tie the flies, I hope that helps . Many thanks for watching the videos 👍🎣🐟

Looks like a river nymph. So do you never fish rivers?
I mainly fish lakes / lochs, but the trout love small nymphs throughout the year , especially if the water has had a lot of angler pressure 👍🎣🐟
@@alecharveyfishingandflytying Are there any videos of you catching wild trout from wild waters be they river or mountain lake? Would be good to see. My preference is for these type of places, although I do sometimes enjoy stocked fisheries and naturalized stocked rainbows can be just as challenging as wild trout

Well Alec, watched this video last night and was out fishing today. Tied up 4 nymphs with the black version of the synthetic peacock hearl with a black bead... didn't have the exact copy of yours. But this fly saved my day!! I only caught 3 fish and all 3 were on this nymph! My twin brother only caught 1 fish so thanks to you I have bragging rights till next time we fish. Cheers for the inspiration mate, also catching lots on the nothing fly recently!!

Nice, simple pattern Alec. I have tied a pattern very simular to this one and used it on a double nymph rig on the Telico river in east tennessee (USA) and it has done extremely well. And your right...seems like it is most effective in still water such as eddies and current seams. Thanks for sharing. By the way, I have subscibed.

Alex, have you ever heard of a beechwood creeper. Chap i give flies to says it was best fly hes ever had but he cant really tell me what it was.

Nice simple pattern to copy - can I ask where you would use this Alec - euro nymphing?
I use them on still water lakes for trout, but you definitely could use them on rivers if that's your type of fishing. 👍🎣🐟

Hi Alex, great video thanks. Do you prefer unweighted snakes on sinking lines? Also, what about shorter 5cm snakes v the longer ones? Also do you ever bother with droppers?
I have both unweighted and weighted, the unweighted ones allows you to fish them slowly on sinking lines, which at times produces more fish. Smaller snakes tend to get you more hook up 👍🎣🐟

I've fished hass a few times when Cecil had it and the best fly I found was the copper buzzer..I went last year and gave a copper buzzer to the fella next to me and he pulled out a cracking brownie..
It's good fishing at Loch Hass, and it's great that you can catch using many methods depending on the weather conditions, lovely hard fighting fish 👍🎣🐟

Glad you guys had a good day guys … They are lovely lochs in a beautiful location. It’s a super dry fly water most times regardless of weather . It’s fairly local to me and I have had tons of great days there . Both lochs fish equally as well. Hope I bump into you next time you are over . Nice wee video Alec , many thanks for sharing .

Hi Alec enjoyed tying this fly i am quite a novice but found it relatively easy even for me, two things how would you fish it, and what length is the tail of the fly thank you.
Hi Roland , the fly is easy to tie and catches lots of trout , the tail is just a few mm long as I tie them on size 20 and 18 carp hooks . You can fish them casting to rising fish or drift them across the surface, and the fish will come up blind and take them . You can also slowly figure of eight them just subsurface and the fish will readily take them. Check my fishing videos using them, and you will see me using them and catching fish.👍🎣🐟

Hi Alec, could you explain why you put the sticky side out on the cheeks.
When you first tie on the cheez on , the sticky side is on the outside but when you fold it forwards towards the eye, it's then on the inside when you tie it off at the eye end 👍🎣🐟

Cheers Harry , floating line , get the fly to make a disturbance on the surface by sort sharp pulls them stop for a few seconds and start again , then get ready for a fish to smash it , great fun way to fish , tight lines 🎣🐟

Waters holding our native fish, the brown trout, shouldn't be stocked with rainbows. We should be protecting and preserving our wild fish.
The browns and rainbows have been together in sweethope for many years now, and both types are in great condition. 🎣🐟

There is no right way or wrong way in fly tying , go with your ideas then the fish let you know if they work or not , some do and some don't, that's the fun in fly tying 👍🎣🐟
