Jessie J Acoustics Session
With more personality than most of the current crop of pop stars put together, Jessie J has become a more or less overnight internet sensation, hitting the BBC Sound of 2011 poll while the video for 'Do It Like A Dude' got over two million CZcams views in just a week. We capture her here talking candidly about her upbringing, her thoughts on performance and songwriting, and all that generally proves why she's potentially going to be huge.

Friendly Fires at the MELT! Festival in Berlin, Germany
zhlédnutí 3,9KPřed 13 lety
After a meteoric rise to fame that saw the St. Albans trio unfairly robbed of the Mercury Music Prize for their self titled debut LP, 2009 has been quite the year for Friendly Fires. Here, we catch up for an interview and live set with one of the most beloved bands in the country, as they dodge thunder and lightning at the MELT! Festival in Berlin, Germany.
Throwing Muses at Primavera Festival, Barcelona
zhlédnutí 1,2KPřed 13 lety
Rhode Island's Throwing Muses were leading alt-rock heroes up until many perceived them to have broken up a decade ago. As the band correct us in an interview here, this was only a clever way to get out of an unpleasant record contract, something they've only just recoverd from. As well as catching up with the band out by the sea in Barcelona, our cameras also caught an all too rare set at the ...
The xx at Camden Crawl 2009
zhlédnutí 6KPřed 13 lety
The words 'minimal' and 'pop' don't usually sit well in many sentences other than "there's only a minimal amount of pop that's any good these days', but if you need a term to describe the music that The XX make, you could do a lot worse that juxtaposing the two terms. Actually, "BRILLIANT minimal pop" is probably more accurate we capture one of the most justifiably hyped bands of the year perfo...
The Wave Pictures at 2010 SXSW Conference in Texas, US

They never rehearse, they record albums by accident, they forget how their songs go with alarming regularity. And yet it's precisely such humbling qualities as these (coupled admittedly with some truly excellent songwriting) that make us love The Wave Pictures as much as we do. After donning the wooly hats and gloves necessary to cope with the unseasonably cold day we met them on, the trio play...
Smokey Robinson

Original members of Motown Records' first vocal group The Miracles, Smokey Robinson is a modern day living legend. Known as the "King of Motown", he had 37 top 40 hits between 1960 and 1987, has been inducted into the Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame and George Harrison has written a song about him. After sitting down for the man with the most truly remarkable piercing blue eyes we can see why. Ladies ...

We caught up with Noah and the Whale at London's Field Day festival back in 2008. We filmed both their on stage performance proper as well as a breathtaking acoustic performance backstage, in a Gibson trailer of all places. Grown men cried.
Pulled Apart by Horses

On an unseasonably warm late-September night, the world ended. What caused this cataclysmic rupture of the substance of the earth? Pulled Apart by Horses - that's what bloomin' did it. Redefining the terms "enthusiastic", "ebullient" and "clinically insane", this quartet from Leeds are one of the most talented bunches of scamps to have ever stamped on our collective feet. Watch in horror as gui...
Meat Loaf

What kind of a man refers to himself in the third person as Meat? Thats right, Meat Loaf. In the second of our two piece interview with the living, breathing, reverberating legend we let the man jibber jabber on about fake passports, his new record and any number of other things. Because he is Meat', and we simply couldn't stop him, nor should anyone ever want to.
Los Campesinos

Adored by music-critic-behemoth Pitchfork and with an ever-growing, dangerously passionate fanbase, Los Campesions! have been bubbling like a slowly heated kettle for some years now, but with the release of their second (brilliantly titled) second album 'Romance Is Boring', they are about to poetically drop-kick their way into the big time. We packed the seven noisy chaps/chapesses into our off...
Les Savy Fav at Field Day Festival, Victoria Park, London
zhlédnutí 130Před 13 lety
Art-rock, post hardcore influenced New York band Les Savy Fav are probably one of the most underrated live bands doing the rounds right now. Fact. Shameless, shirtless frontman Tim Harrington stalks the stage, looking and acting like Iggy Pop after a heavy decade on the carbs while the rest of the band bluster out a distorted, melodic mess of angular guitars and bum-rush guitars. We have a litt...
Lawrence Arabia

"Hi, I'm Lawrence Arabia". Thus begins a set of perfectly crafted, light-dark pop songs penned by ex-Okkervil River bassist and member of The Brunettes, James Milne. We also smuggle the New Zealander out for a pre-match chat about the effect of pseudonyms, the importance of modesty, and why all music essentially boils down to two things: sex and bitching. Like a particularly fine soup made by a...
Keane at The Fridge, Brixton
zhlédnutí 735Před 13 lety
Playing the last ever show to be performed at Fridge, in Brixton, Keane here prove their legacy with hit after hit to a blinding light-show, in the same week as their fourth consecutive album went straight to number one. Watch on for melodic pop sensibilities outdone by none, and a charmingly honest and forthcoming coversation backstage with the band.
Jeffrey Lewis at SXSW 2008
zhlédnutí 283Před 13 lety
The bastard child of Bob Dylan and David Lynch, Jeffrey Lewis writes surrealist stories about creeping animated brains, the beginning of the Soviet Union and being banned from The Roxy (though to be fair, that's a Crass cover), accompanies them with illustrations and somehow manages to be one of the most un-pretentious artists that we've ever met. Catch this fellow's unquantifiable performance ...

I have been rediscovering these old videos. Great sound!!! My unconditional love to our dear boys. Keane.... Best band ever !!!❤
Still on my saved since 2013
This is horrible, cliched. meaningless stuff. No melodic or rhythmic variation. No discernible lyric content No songcraft. There's a lot of that about these days.
7:25 the Dinosaur Jr reference!!!
the pedal steel is awesome - big slabs of aural heaven - JT is pretty good too . .
i always come back to this for the last 10 years
Awesome
I am SO confused about this Tillman lore... Are J. Tillman and F.J.M. the same person? like dark side light side jedi type of thing? idk whats happening, but as long as these goosebumps keep coming I'm gonna keep listening. plz halp love ya'll!
Yea same guy
If there is any constant in life, its that everything changes: the mutability of our reality is inescapable, and it precludes us from a true sense of stability when it comes to understanding the physical world around us, our relationships, and our very own selves; mountains erode, passionate love affairs drift into monotony until the point where the lovers can barely recall what drew them to one another in the first place, and one day you will find yourself saying something/performing an action/having a thought which is completely alien to the type of person you assumed you were. Change is constant and inevitable
This is pure music gold, never expected that cos father john misty isn't bad, but wasn't my kind of taste. But that and the slide sounds, reminds me a bit of iron and wine stuff🤔Too good😃
The world had no idea what was in store for them with this Josh Tillman fella.
Shame this band is gone.
This video changed my life. As of today one of the most beautiful live performances I saw. Still watch it on a regular basis. <3
Never knew pop comes from the word populous music, glad that she now enjoys post punj, but even her dark pop rock it
The title for this video must be "J. Tillman live RFB Session" and not this misleading one about Fleet Foxes.
Like the father!
I love this woman so much. I’m so grateful for her. Saw her live one week ago after all these years. Couldn’t believe it. She is so special, especially nowadays!
Amazing voices. Love these guys...
Damn, i'm setting this as my start page, no better way to start a day with the first song
I just wanted to point out that the guitarist does a heck of great job, leads the flow just right, and together with Jessie they sound perfect
This woman has improved her vocals and delivery amazingly compared to her early years. And she was already a great talent when she started.
Her voice has changed a lot since that !
Lololololololove. Lolololove. Lolololololololove
This band is really something extra. I have followed their career and over the years famous persons like Patti Smith, Paul Simon, Paul McCartney, Neil Young and also Tom Petty (RIP) they all say these Girls have something extra. Me personally cannot understand these Girls hail from Sweden. they sound so American.
Tillman should never have left Fleet Foxes. His "Father John Misty" persona has become a boring joke that no one takes seriously anymore.
I couldn't disagree more
I couldn't agree more.
I like your sarcasm UberYooTuber
UberCZcamsr, you sound like a douchebag but I think you're prolly just an assclown with bad taste. Josh Tillman hAtEd working as a hired hand for the fleet foxes. He had no creative input & only played the part as an impromptu hired drummer. Pecknold was a controlling twat & Fleet Foxes were overrated snorefest crap.... AND WHERE ARE THEY NOW?! Thank God, Josh Tillman rode that cash cow & walked away with experience, wisdom, no debt & the courage to break out as his own True Self, making amazing, original, brilliant fucking music!
@@FJM_alt.universe777 That's a bad take you have there
this is mostly for my own benefit... 0:03 romance is boring 3:20 there are listed buildings 6:39 who fell asleep in 11:37 a heat rash in the shape of the show me state 15:33 the sea is a good place to think of the future

Damn
good ninght ; have good dreann
did father john misty circa 2017 go back in time to play bass for j tillman? that's impressive
I was thinking the same thing! I'm actually fairly certain that's his brother Zach.
Patrick Doyle. It is his younger brother Zach Tillman, he plays bass & and guitar now, has his own band/music career these days.
The Bassist honestly looks like it could be Josh's brother, does anyone know more on this?
it is, zach tillman
Best singer love 💕
Wow! I'm really picky about music, but I have to say this young lady is beautiful, charismatic, and very talented!
Gosh this was early in her career wasn't it xxxx
the best singer ever.
이때도 성인이였는데 지금이랑 비교하니까 목소리가 앳되다 굿!!
Ah-mazing. I cant express into words how I feel when I listen to this woman. Pure gold.
Now I get what all the rave is about...She's prodigious...She writes this stuff herself?
Second song?
When I Light Your Darkened Door is the second song
Jessie is queen <3
Amazing performance - Josh with a band - wow... Makes me wish he would re-record these songs in this format. It's like a punch in the mouth.
The most talented vocalist under 30 in mainstream music.
Awesome! You should check out out some of our acoustic cover videos :D
Traitor
This is amazing, she is the reborn like a woman of her dad.
i have so much respect for this woman
wow i just found this video and was quite impressed on how pleasent she is! actually till now i didn't really like her, cause she seemed too girly and formed by the media, like rihanna and co. ... but i'm really happy to have seen her on the inteview now, so i can say never let yourself blind by media - and yes i blame myself for doing so in this case! price tag really flashed me! *.*
I was just about to ask if anybody could explain to me how British people can just leave their British accent when singing and then she was like "I just wanna make the world dance" 😅 Jessie J is just gorgeous 😍
jessie you ar the best....
