One of the things that gets me is that some of the things, we as human beings, think to ourselves - things that we wouldn’t share because there isn’t a place for it or it just isn’t civil, is just a part of being a human being. I’m not saying what David Spade said in this comedy special is what I have thought or you have thought, but common sense tells me it has been thought, and by many. That is part of comedy, and music, and other art; expressing things people can relate to as a human that goes unsaid in every day civil life. Is it sad that a little girl died? Damned right, it is. It’s a sad thing for any child to be killed or suffer abuse. This joke did cross a line. You can hear it in part of the crowd’s reaction. And they would have most likely turned on him, had he not, as a confident and skilled comedian, kept the set going like he did. But, what is the line? He even asks ‘where is the line?’ Part of the humor is this culture of parents raising their children in an unhealthy environment of the pageant world. Tag child actors on that too. There is a lack of emphasis on having healthy parent-child relationships and all of the focus and energy is on the pressure put upon the child to be “beautiful”, from early on having a toxic perception of beauty embedded in a child. And since that reality show about pageant kids, more people have received an even closer look at these kinds of negative, toxic parent-child behaviors. The bottom line, however, is that things are going to affect people one way or another in any thing you do. We can allow our emotions and/or society to dominate our actions and reactions, or we can utilize that inner part of ourselves (the sometimes too honest part of ourselves that I mentioned at the beginning) to see things more honestly. Whether we agree or not, we can at least understand that, although God made us all each in His own image, we are all still individuals receiving and putting out information in our own unique ways.

He makes a pedophilia joke, a joke about how obsessive child beauty queen mothers are, and then a joke about how you can’t trust everything you read on the internet. However, everyone is getting upset as if he is trashing the family or implying that it’s funny that she was murdered.
