My channel consists of what I like to think of as "Baroque Music Videos." By combining art and music, I try to create a new art form that will hopefully enhance the listener's experience of the music.
There is often an educational/didactic component to my videos, from the content of the videos themselves to a wealth of information (including links) about the music, the composer, and the performers that you will find in the video description. These often include links to the CDs for purchasing and sometimes links for further research. Information about the artists whose work is featured can also be found here.
I use iMovie on a Mac to create my videos. I had no prior experience with this software, so I was literally learning the program as I made these. Actually, I'm continually learning more about what I can and cannot do with iMovie. I use GIMP to create some of the images I use.

Hi dear Jeffrey. Handel, Mingardo and Kermes. The very difficult one to overcome. Marvelous. Thank you so much.
You’re welcome, Tomàs. I’m glad you enjoyed this.
As well as the exquisite music i also like to delve into the historical context - this story is based on real events but the character Lotario is really the emperor Otto the Great founder (or more correctly re founder of the Holy Roman Empire) which consisted largely of Germany and northern Italy with some middle sections thrown in. Queen Adelaide of Italy is being forced into a marriage with Adalbert but the chivalrous king of Germany Otto invades Italy to rescue her and later marries her.The reason for the name change from Otto to Lotario was because Handel also wrote an opera about Otto's son the emperor Otto II called "Ottone re di Germania" so he wanted to avoid confusion between the two. The latter mentioned opera is the one where famously Handel is supposed to have threatened to throw his soprano Francesca Cuzzoni out of the window if she didn't sing the aria "Falsa immagine" which she considered not good enough for her to sing.
Yes, Handel had written much of the music for Ottone before he had hired Cuzzoni. During rehearsals, she indicated that she would like him to write a new entrance aria that would showcase her abilities so that she could make a good first impression with the London public. He refused and famously threatened to throw her out of the window. Cuzzoni yielded and sang that aria with enormous success, continuing to perform it throughout her career in recitals and concerts.
Have a great weekend Jeffrey!
Thank you. You too!
♥
I’m glad you enjoyed it.

You’re welcome. I’m glad you enjoyed it.
How utterly delightful. Makes the body shiver. I’ve noted before on this channel that Handel was the King of duets. This is a fine exemplar. Mingardo is probably the finest contralto currently performing.
You are correct. Handel wrote so many wonderful duets. I love this one. Delightful indeed! Sara Mingardo is one of my favorite singers, and she is well represented on my channel.

This is lovely! I was unaware of Ms. Mields until I heard her sing last year at the Boston Early Music Festival. A complete and utter joy to hear and to see. In addition to having a beautiful voice, she was so enthusiastic about the performances of everyone who sang with her.
I am very fond of her singing, and she is well represented on my channel.

You’re welcome. I’m glad you enjoyed it.
A wonderful late score by GFH. Everything in it is striking in its modernity for the time, especially the influence of French opera (tho' not in this aria). Masterful performance.
I’m very fond of his singing. I’m glad you enjoyed this.
La vendetta amorosa, ha de ser levemente sádica, con gotas de perfidia, y de natural indiferencia al hacerla, para que el regusto se saboree mil veces al recordarla... Muy buena música Señor Stivers, Gracias
You're welcome. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Thank you, Jeffrey, again!
You're welcome. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Music ennobles feelings. This aria captures the atmosphere of anger and disappointment with Handel's usual elegance.Thank you, dear Jeffrey, it's really beautiful . Waiting for the next pearl, happy Sunday.
You're welcome, dearest Laura, and thank you for your continued support and encouragement. Warm greetings!
I often wish I could have lived in those uncomplicated times knowing and possibly rubbing shoulders with the great Handel and other composers who we cherish today, thank you Jeffery for helping to keep them alive through their works. Enjoy the weekend
You're welcome. There is so much great music from this time period to discover and explore. I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
"uncomplicated times" ?? You wouldnt have possibly been able to "rub shoulders with the great Handel", great Hasse or anyone else. it is only NOW that we ALL can hear this music ANY TIME. cherish it.
The delights of revenge, thanks to you, dear Jeffrey, in the most noble form possible. Enjoy your weekend!
You're welcome, dear Theo. I am very fond of this singer, so I was happy to promote her on my channel. Handel, of course, excels at depicting Eduige's desire for revenge. Fond regards!
