    Your solution is getting a second setup. Then you will have the best of both worlds and will capture the pictures you're ultimately expected to capture and possibly some you wouldn't, without the second setup, otherwise. I'm interested in setting the buttons on the lens to change to the APS-C format. What do you have your buttons set on? It's my understanding even though there are three, or four buttons, they will all only change the same function. So we might as well only have one button, apart from the convenience of multiple locations. Is this true? I just received this lens about a week ago. I've test driven it a couple of times for an hour, or two. I absolutely love the lens. I haven't seen any images apart from what one sees through the view finder, but based upon that experience alone, I'm blown away by the focusing speed, tracking and image perspective. I feel like a kid with a new toy. To have that feeling, by itself, the $2,500 was worth it. I thought the 70-200 was a new level. This lens gives the experience of having a PhD. You begin to believe all the claims were real after all. Next my teeth will return by putting a dollar under my pillow. 🧑‍🎄

  • @alexbreugelmans8448

    Are the images sharp?

    • @CurtisSnapshot
      @CurtisSnapshot Před 7 dny

      The images can definitely be sharp, but using the 1.4x teleconverter with the Sony 200-600 can make it a bit more challenging to get sharp results. Factors like weather play a big role-on hot, sunny days, there’s often more atmospheric distortion, which can make distant subjects appear blurrier. Thanks for watching! If you’re still researching this combination, I have a more recent video where I share my updated thoughts after a year of using it. It’s a balanced and positive review: czcams.com/video/-48SEfICQy4/video.htmlsi=QawuuqUIaj5Kt7vr

    Great review thanks, My main worry is, Does the teleconverter add another stress point to the lens? If I'm shooting handheld on my 200-600 do I have to be more careful not to stress the Emount?

    • @CurtisSnapshot
      @CurtisSnapshot Před 15 dny

      I've used mine on and off for a year now, and it feels just as sturdy as without. The inner mounting points of the teleconverter are metal on both sides and are weather sealed. The Sony 200-600 is one of the official lenses that the teleconverters support, so it’s safe to say Sony’s got it covered! Thanks for commenting-glad you found the review helpful!

    How do you get the photos so sharp do you use manual mode or automatic for focus?

    • @CurtisSnapshot
      @CurtisSnapshot Před 16 dny

      Hey, thanks for commenting! I use automatic focus, only switching to manual in tricky situations, such as shooting through foliage. My focus box is typically set to a medium tracking box, with eye tracking enabled. This allows the camera to track the subject as it moves around the frame. From my experience with the Sony a7iv and the 200-600, I can rely on the autofocus to do the heavy lifting, as long as I'm putting it in the right situations. Of course, factors such as luck, weather and other variables also play a role.

    • @CurtisSnapshot
      @CurtisSnapshot Před 17 dny

      This is a really good question, sorry for the late reply. I will have a look at my camera and see if it’s a focusing speed setting, because my lens does the same thing. I assumed autofocus was just slower in video, but it might be a setting meant to make the focus roll slowly and smoothly from subject to subject, so it doesn’t appear jumpy.

    • @CurtisSnapshot
      @CurtisSnapshot Před 25 dny

      Great question! It sounds like your AF Speed might be set too low. Adjusting this setting changes how quickly the camera focuses when switching between subjects. Also, double-check that you’re using Continuous Autofocus (AF-C) to keep the camera focused on moving subjects. I do have a video covering how my a7iv is setup for wildlife photography: czcams.com/video/KzbFIPYbakE/video.htmlsi=ICi2heNry-DiRNe1 I hope this helps-birds in flight can be really challenging! Very fun to hear the excitement in your voice when you talk about your trip, you can tell that you liked it just by hearing you talk about it. :) I usually bring my tripod when I go out, but I end up not using it at all and just carry my camera with the peak design strap. But I don't usually film anything. I'm trying to get more footage with my Sony A7IV, but I still have to practice it more. And it's a hassle to get the exports right, so I just end up procrastinating whenever I film anything to edit the footage.

    It would be nice if you put the name of the birds you’re photographing. Thanks

      Thanks for the suggestion! I can see that being very helpful, as I myself am still always trying to identify new birds I don’t know.

      My max ISO is set to 12,800. I have not pushed it beyond that yet. Thank for commenting!

    Great video Curtis! I love the shots you get of the little birds. I try so hard but they move so fast and I have trouble focusing in time through the branches. Any tips would be appreciated. I have the Sony R7V and I love it! I am working on my bird photography and blog about it here if you are interested: www.jenniferdacreativeexplorer.com/blog. Love your channel.

      Thanks for the kind words, Jennifer! For small birds, I use a small tracking focus box and rely on bird eye autofocus to do the rest. The smaller focus box helps the camera lock onto the bird even through branches. If it struggles, I sometimes switch to manual focus, just to manually focus past the branches, then back to auto focus to track the bird. One downside is that if the bird takes flight, it can be challenging to re-center it in the focus area. I have a video on my channel detailing how my a7iv is setup for wildlife photography: czcams.com/video/KzbFIPYbakE/video.htmlsi=XTxrcKk3pCd9R_uc Glad you like the channel, and I hope these tips help with your bird photography. I’ll definitely check out your photography blog!
