I would recommend people buy that. Less shock to new worm bed home.
Gosh! I've played with making bedding like that, but the process I came up with was too time/resource-consuming for the small amount of output I was able to make. I wonder if there is something like that for a not-so-commercial level. I just looked at the price tag on that, and HOLY COW! 😱 But I bet you're right... It'll pay for itself in no time! That's a lot of bedding!

Very nice stuff Mrs Meme's !! I have made many CFT's They are quiet good.....But recently....i bought a Costco's 6 level shelfs and put them in my garage with my breeding's bins....(mixing concrete bins) from HD or Loews...I just filled them up at 50% and it's so much better....Because emptying CFT's is not an easy task as you well know !!

Putting some hinges on the side or bottom of the new bins would make it easier to harvest from. If you divided the bottom into two 'doors' it could make a ramp that you could set the wheelbarrow and slide the casting in. I am working on trying to commercialize my small scale farm for next year.

I'll be making my first hugh batch of pre compost next week. I got the coffee trucked in, veggie scraps and just did 200 gallons of shredded cardboard. You’re more true composting than pre-composting I think so watch your temps! Try really really hard to stay below 133F (aka the upper limit of thermophilic bacterial range). 😊🪱

Do you freeze the food scraps from the kitchen before you feed them to your indoor worm bin? I have 2 outdoor worm towers here in the UK and my worms finish food more quickly if it was frozen first. Thanks from a long term subscriber who’s learned so much from your channel.

Thank you for educting us on worms and keeping them. My favorite is nightcrawlers for other worm species specialize in one or other of carbons or greens nutrients, while nightcrawlers do well with both materials in worm bin composting.

We fill material in 5 gallin buckets.
Outstanding progress and update! Meme, I suggest if you go with wedges, that they be built the same way as your new bins with slightly higher sides (6"?), so when collecting castings there's not a lot of bending over. Maybe a wider walk/drive space for machinery to be able to drive between the bins, so you're using the wheelbarrow less often. Much love!

What did you do with your fabric beds? Other than bending over to work them, did you have any issues with the fabric beds? I have used fabric pots for 5 years now, mostly 100 gallons all on pallets. I like the air flow
No issues a t all, just the bending over. My back just couldnt take it anymore.
