Would you recommend Blazing Saddles? The universe shudders at the asking of such an obvious question. Of course you should see Blazing Saddles.

Per Blazing Saddles - YES, I would recommend it. If you liked Men In Tights, which was basically Mel Brooks' last good movie, but already WELL past his prime, you should DEFINITELY go back and watch Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein, and Spaceballs at a minimum. They're all parodies (of spaghetti westerns, every Frankenstein movie, and Star Wars respectively), so knowing the source material helps. But Mel Brooks did kind of silly comedies back in the day. If you really like those, I'd recommend To Be or Not To Be (one of Brooks' rare non-parodies), and History of the World Part I (which parodies...history...I guess). They're more on the 'Men in Tights' level. Still good, just not AS good. In terms of that reference to Blazing Saddles...that was just Mel Brooks being a little egotistical, which he can be at times. In Blazing Saddles, the protagonist is black in a role where black folks seldom were cast. That's literally the extent of this reference's humor value. Do be warned, Blazing Saddles has some content that SOME people might think doesn't age well. But, those people are the types who don't understand the jokes and just react on the surface level.

I have attended several Worldcons, and can say that if nothing else, it is worth attending for the Masquerade and Concerts. If you enjoy panels about various writing/gaming/fannish topics, all the better. Also, this will be my first Worldcon outside the US, so I hope to be amazed!

I loved this movie. *Blazing Saddles* is a great movie and I highly recommend it.

In the spirit of loving all fight mediums, I’d love to de you do a breakdown of the fist fight in the Quiet Man. It is among my all time fav fight scenes even though it is lacking swords.

Whatever you do, do NOT watch Blazing Saddles! Unless you want to see Mel Brooks at the height of his comedic genius, stellar performances by Clevon Little and Gene Wilder, and be gifted an arsenal of killer one liners to carry with you for the rest of your life.

Fun fact about the revival pill the witch gives the sheriff. The prop is a lifesaver. Like the candy.

Mel Brooks may be a comedy guy, but he doesn't do anything half-assed. He's going to do a Star Wars parody? He's going all out. Robin Hood? Hold my bow. Western? Shine your spurs! He truly is a master.
