Alpinestars Bogota Pro All-season jacket presentation
In this video I present my new all-season riding jacket from Alpinestars : the Bogota Pro. Featuring a Drystar waterproof membrane and a thermal layer, it is capable of protecting you during the harshest months of the winter as well as in the hottest days of the summer (hopefully, I just got it so I don't have much experience with it yet).
The jacket is AA rated for abrasion and comes with CE level 2 impact protection for the elbows and shoulders. There is a pocket for an optional back protector, as well as pockets for a chest protector
This video is not a review, but a first impressions/presentation !
A review will come much much later when I will have had the pleasure to ride with it in various conditions to truely be able to tell you what I think of this jacket, the pros and cons.
By the way, I bought this garment myself with my own hard-earned money in a store near where I live.
Lastly, for those who wonder where I am in this video, I'm at the intermediate station of the cable car to Pic du Midi in the Pyrénées mountains, on the French side, very close to the famous Tourmalet montain pass.

In this video I go on a week-end trip to one of the most windy and cold mountains in central France : the Mont Aigoual. On my way there I traverse nice open landscapes (we don't actually have so many of them in France, it's pretty crowded) and cute tiny villages. In order to find a suitable wild camping spot, I start going up an easy dirt road/path and end up testing the (lack of) traction of t...

Is the 48 Mpx mode of the DJI Mini 3 Pro useful for photogrammetry ? What about AI upscaling ?

In this video, I run a little experiment with my DJI mini 3 pro : comparing the regular 12 Mpx photos to the 48 Mpx photos that the quad-bayer sensor can capture. I also use AI upscaling on the 12 Mpx photos to try and recover the extra details that the high resolution provides. why not take a time lapse as you walk?
What can you suggest to a 26yo interested in this job for living? Where to start ?
I"m surprised that the AI upscaled worked as well as it did. As you know the sfm image matching process in photogrammetry depends on matching features between one image and another. With upscaled images, the AI generated features could be very different and may not be consistent across the images. In one image the AI could add one set of details to an image, and could add a very different set of details to another, thereby breaking or degrading the quality of the image matching. Thank you for doing this experiment!
Metashape accepts fisheye images, meaning you can create jpegs from the original video of each lens, rather then creating an equirectangular video first (and avoid all the re-compression artifacts) Even better results can be had if you set the Insta 360 One to take still images every couple of seconds instead of video. Video codecs compress the image WAY more then jpeg does. This translates into more detail in your 3d model and better resolution textures. Let me know if you end up trying either of those suggestions.
Thanks for providing such valuable info, I will try your suggestion!
Thank you for sharing your experience with this jacket - very helpful. What a beautiful setting to be riding and filming in - wow!
nice video. is this also pssible using zephyr?

I think you have missed the point of who and what this bike is aimed at, it isnt meant to be a dirt bike or serious off road machine, it is a great tourer and capable of leaving the tarmac when needed. It is a fantastic do it all bike and not a contender for the Tenere off road capability. Two different bikes designed for different purposes,
great, thx :)
Great job! Thank you!
Thank you for this great video. Did you ever tried it indoors? Could it be a solution for capturing a floor plan?
600 photos took 1 hr,.. i have 200 photos in zephyr and i'm 2 hrs in with a 4090
Wondering if you find there is enough clearance between the handle bar's and the tank when you have full left or right lock.
I mounted these on my AT and found out that it will touch the plastics around the screen depending on how it is fitted. I have my handlebar tilted slightly forward and I needed to adjust the handguards for that otherwise it would scratch the plastics at full left and right lock.
How did it handle YOU being in the footage? Did you pre-mask it, or did it just figure it out?
I'm in construction and would love to incorporate this into the business. Question...Can you, say, take a 3D model of a property using the drone and in post production add in another model of a pergola or outdoor kitchen area?
3:38 why doesn't it make sense ?! Half of 48mp is still better than 12mp... Moreover images from those small drones aren't exactly tack sharp and are highly manipulated by software already... For a DSLR I wouldn't say (depending on the quality of the lens) but for the small budget drones I don't think it makes a lot of sense to use ultra high profile...
Beautiful journey, well shown. Thank you!
Waouh, le toulousain qui s'emporte son cassoulet en casse-croûte It looks very frenchy isn't it ? 😂 Images très pures et nettes, montage très plaisant, imaginatif et fluide et la musique... On la reconnaît comme ta marque désormais.

What hardware do you use? Especially which GPU. Which GPU would you recommend for photogrammetry?
Actually the 48 Mpx pictures doesn't have that much more details than the 12 Mpx pictures. For me the look almost the same
Salu Jérôme Thank you very much for the SUPER interesting and very instructive tutorial! I have benefited a lot from your great video! Of course I subscribed immediately ;-) I'm currently familiarizing myself with photogrammetry. Also with my Mini 3 Pro, a brilliant drone. May I ask you Jérôme, if you could possibly provide me with all the photos you took of this beautiful castle ruin? I would love to use them for personal training. For my personal use only, of course. Under no circumstances would I pass on or publish the pictures. That would be great and I would be very grateful. Have a nice weekend and greetings from Switzerland
super video.. what specs the computer you had?
to make MetaShape less blurry > - generated masks based on the actual mesh model, - estimated image quality for all cameras (with ignore masked regions option enabled), - disabled cameras with image quality lower than 0.8, - disabled cameras looking at the model from behind, - rebuilt texture.
what program do you use most?
@@DaTruthHealsMetashape / Reality Capture i think i'll be using RC more down the road

Great vid But what to use if your gear is MacOs?
Wonder if there are any AI tools out there that can do a final cleanup like what Photoshop does with photos

How to export the video to jpg ?

Awesome video, thank you so much! I always loved the equirectangular results that MetaShape could generate so easily! But splitting the images with Meshlab is new to me, i will try that. I wonder: How would you use Meshlab with those 4 split-images? That would be a great follow-up video!
Hello Jérôme! I'm a big fan of your videos, they're incredibly informative and inspiring! I'd love to hear your thoughts on photogrammetry for indoor spaces of buildings. What equipment and software would you recommend for this specific use? Keep up the great work!
I agree with everything you say, @hamdisferhat6881, and would like to join in with my interest in indoor Photogrammetry, @Jérôme!
I loved the comparison, very complete. I just want to comment that I just saw that Reality Capture will ditch the PPI model and offer free versions for students/hobbyists and $1250 / year for companies making >$1M per year
i followed the tutorial but still get no model or some cameras not working.
Subscribed. Great intro to photogrammetry. It's a new subject for me and I look forward to putting my mini 4 pro to work today, to try this out. Will also be looking at your other vids. Thank you.
Usually for serious tasks where I need quality, I choose Metashape. It collects sharp, accurate meshes. Sometimes I try to work in Reality Capture, but it often cannot glue an object into one part and splits it into several components, and gluing them together manually with dots is much more time-consuming. When comparing these two programs, I understand that Metashape is more geodetic software and of course the quality is more serious. Reality Capture began to lose in the last two years, although in some moments it is more convenient. But convenience does not equal quality. Despite the fact that I work in Unreal Engine and export my meshes to this engine, and of course RC exports it to the engine more conveniently, while in MS I have to tinker with dimensions and pivots. In general, choose what is convenient for you for a specific task.
Most programs use the same algorithms, so you are more or less testing the default settings. But for noobs this is valuable information. I used Metascan until 2022, and then I changed to Zephyr. Results are pretty much the same. It's the input that defines the output via the settings (metashape has no holes in the roof, but fuses the planks, zephyr has hole in the roof but seperates the planks) . Drone shots are always challenging. Good sharpness and depth of focus are paramount. But so is lack of noise, with a small sensor camera that is always challenging. Good work, BTW.
curious why you changed from MS to 3DF-Z
Thank you. Very informative video.
Amazing video!! But I have one problem, how do you export the video to JPG stills? I can't see that option. That would save a ton of time in the Metashape process.
I really like Meshroom (with a powerful computer). I also use WebODM in Docker (Linux). Also free and great.
