You know the thing that gets me about this is that the Batman universe actually doesn't lack asian characters... like at all. We have Punchline, Katana, Cassandra Kain, Detective Ellen Yin, Lady Shiva. Ext. Some would even argue that Ras Al Ghul and Talia are Asian so... You don't HAVE to change the race of one of the most iconic female characters of all time to fit an agenda. And I am ALL for just not having Joker or Harley for one show! That would be great. Batman has such a big rogue gallery and it would be awesome for them to highlight people who are NOT these two for a change. Heck... If you want to do Punchline, who is a completely different character than Harley.. Just do Punchline, that would be cool. I am not really against changing characters pr say, I liked "The Batman." and how it had its own take on so many characters. But it's the reasons behind it that gets really annoying and grating these days. When "The Batman." made Clayface into a black man called Ethan, nobody cared he was black, it wasn't a big deal nor was it presented as a big deal, his whole character wasn't his blackness but that he was Bruce's best and oldest friend, and then got to have his. "One bad day." episode making him pretty much the best developed character of the whole show. And Ellen Yin as a brand new character who was Batmans partner was great too, heck I am actually SAD they moved away from Ethan and Yin and instead went more traditional, I would have LIKED for these two to continue their story archs, and maybe even give Yin a costume or something... Oh well... Could have should have, who knows.

If Gendy Tartakovsky did that Wolverine everyone would be praising it so I call bullsh*t double standard. People need to let artists try different things. Without the freedom of self-expression art is reduced to propaganda.

AI should be nowhere near comic book art in my opinion, this is one of the last frontiers of human expression as far as hand-drawn art that people value so highly, people pay for books by a particular artist and follow a particular artist. 👎🏼 No AI

I remember reading somewhere that the movie is a stand alone, so the creators did take inspiration from a bunch of different continuities while still taking some liberties with designs and plot points.

The problem isnt that this has always been a thing. Its the fact that people know the female versions of male characters are never as cool as the ORIGINAL CHARACTER. why give us the female version of favorites. Just frustrating. Most of them suck in the comics, too. We just want good stories with characters we love.

The problem is MARVEL thinks identity is a substitute for character. That’s a big problem with “woke storytelling” in general. Female superhero’s have no stakes, no flaws, and their power isn’t earned. If you’re a girl you win, and the only reason you didn’t win sooner is because the patriarchy was holding you down! Enter Fallout. Female led, but it tells a story in the classic way - flawed hero, makes mistakes, learns lessons, and becomes better over time. Relatable, not woke, and so the gender of the main character doesn’t matter. Amazing how that works! To your point, I agree MARVEL is dumb for this. It’s like introducing Gwen Stacey instead of Peter Parker. That said, if they can put out a good story instead of a blue haired power fantasy it’ll win people over. They can still do that too - no further than X-Men 97, which is awesome. The problem is they won’t, because of ego and the sad fact that the M-She-U is still pandering to the ever elusive “modern audience”. That’s why we get political lectures instead of stories.
