Northeast guy here too(NY). I’m a tungsten jig junkie and I can’t thank you enough for this video. I ordered a few of these because of your video. And it didn’t fail me at all. 👍🏻I’ve been looking for a good replacement for the keitech model ones for a long time. They make a beautiful jig with a putrid hook. Too small and terribly capped. I started putting my own together and bought a bunch of the kiras. IMHO, these jigs look perfect. I’ll be using them for the first time next week. Can’t wait. The Beasts are gorgeous, the weed guard looks solid and most importantly, the hook is right on point. Sharp, perfect size and gapping. And their color offerings look great. As a budget type new bass fisherman since I got my kayak wacky rigged yum dingers have caught me the the most bass. I was looking into drop shotting and found these online for half the price of other baits. I grabbed up green pumpkin/purple, ghost shad and morning dawn. If they are anything like their dingers I'm confident they will work!

The Phenix M1 rods are good rods, but they are not great. The really supple action of them, which tends to be the case limits their versatility, but they make great technique specific rods. These rods are really sensitive which is a plus partly due to the bare handle on the ass of the rod. It would a good concept by Phenix rods that actually works. So this rod is really light, very well balanced, and has great quality silky smooth guides. Speaking of guides; they are bit to small, especially on the spinning rods. You have to be really cautious about the way you tie leaders if you are going to use them with this rod. The rods have a really nice action, but its a supple action making it overrated in terms of power. So if you need a rod in medium, get a medium/heavy if you going the M1 route. I really wish Phoenix had gone with a better quality reel seat such as a fuji. I do not like the reel seat on this rod. I also wish they had extended the cork up the blank at least a few inches. I like Phenix rods though their rods are very technique specific, and you need to choose them carefully. You really aren't going to find a good general purpose rod in any of Phoenix line up. Id look over at Dobyns for that. This M1 rod had the potential to be an excellent rod, but Phoenix just missed the mark on it. I think its still a good rod for its price point of around 185, but Id only buy it for technique specific applications.

One thing with Yum as you mentioned is the prices. Even during all the recent inflation there still hold on to pre pandemic prices for the most part. I got the ghost shad one the only thing i would have changed was added some silver glitter specks.

Please condense down what in your opinion, elevates this jig above dirty jigs compact pitchin jig. I am a compact pitchin jig guy myself. And finesse jigs. Currently for me it is missile mini flip, dirty compact pitchin, and nichols DB finesse jig. Just wondering if it's worth me adding these into the mix.

Do you think this falls more towards a medium rod from other companies? Looking to see if this rod would be good throwing a 1/2 oz jerkbait.

Hey Chris: I liked all 25 of YUM's new colors, especially when seeing them as you presented in 4K. Thanks for sharing! FWIW Every time I buy a new color (of GY Senko), I catch bass on it. Durability is its downfall for sure. So ... Wacky workarounds for me are two O-rings in a cross pattern or a slice of heat shrink tubing. I even super glue my ripped ones afterwards at home for next time out. Me, I'd rather save money that way than by switching brands. That said, I'd like to try some YUM Dingers.

Thanks for sharing. Where I live in Canada, I never see Evergreen rods. On my kayak, I love using my Fenwick HMG spinning rods (6'6" MHF and 6'9" MLF with size 30 reels).

Hey Chris: Thanks for the evaluations on those baits she gave you. I've watched her channel since startup, as I too live in her Canadian province. Freedom Tackle's 3/8oz swim jig is one of my favourites. And BTW, their (topwater) Mischief Minnow will go sub surface if you have a wire leader (sometimes wise around pike).

Awesome video as always! I love this video series. I used to be one of those people who thought color wasn’t too important until I really started spending time figuring a few local fisheries. I really found that in some fisheries it doesn’t matter as much… and others the fish key in so hard that a tiny color detail can be the difference between a 10lb bag and a 25lb bag. And sometimes fish in a certain place just like something weird for no reason! So it’s nice to have great up close videos, nothing is worse than being excited about a color on the TW picture and then getting it in hand and being disappointed.

So basically this rod is a bfs rod? I might pick one up from a guy around my city. He’s selling it for 50$. Maybe use it for crappie or some. What you think?

Sjr means swim jig rod Mbr stands for mag bass rod and they are there own line. They are aimed to be a lot more versatile than the specific actions of say the 822 dsr which is a drop shot rod. I hope this helps a little
