    It's also the acting, some of these new actors don't put in much of the effort either. Movies don't even give out moral lessons that we need to learn in life. Nobody is creative anymore sadly, movies/shows are supposed to take us away from the real world but they always have to go so political or sometimes controversial to the point were the movie or show isn't art anymore. That's why Hollywood is losing a lot of money and the audience. (Well, some of its audience) You did a great job with explaining the problem with Hollywood. Also, AI and fan fiction writers are being hired to rewrite things, unfortunately.

      Bingo. These modern actors don't have the screen presence and je ne sais quoi that previous actors had. Stars like Julia Roberts, Denzel Washington, Robert De Niro for example had a certain on-screen charm that I simply don't see with today's actors. It's like they all have the presence of a cardboard box or something. They're just "blehhh" to me. No rawness. Movies don't have heart anymore either. They used to leave you in a better mood and hopeful about life after you watched it. People used to quote lines and scenes became cultural moments. I don't see that anymore with post-2010 movies.

      have you been off internet or something?. " i once saw him kill 3 men in a bar with f*cking pencil" and multiple thanos quotes were everywhere. pretty much all of his lines are still being used for memes. endgame was probably the biggest cultural moment in human history..and that might seem as an exaggeration but it's really not. cause movies before the internet era were pretty much limited to western audience. even something like star wars was limited to western audience..some enthusiasts prob would've watched western movies but the audience were mainly limited to the Western hemisphere. MCU got so much popularity that everyone were waiting for endgame..easily the biggest cultural moment in cinematic history. MCU is dogshit now. definitely. they're absolute garbage. but i swear people have the memory of a goldfish. people who dunk on MCU forget how prominent they were till 2019 @@coolida23511

      I think a big part of the love shown towards the movie is that it’s also a financial success. Inside Hollywood it’s a widely referenced movie, since it’s artistic but also commercial. @@galaxymoonlqght3732 why? Interstellar, Dune and Inception suffer from the Same Problem. The Idea is kinda cool, the Execution is grand. But the plot and theme is sometimes so weak and it doesn't create the Viewer audience Bond. Interstellar starts Strong, and in the middle of the movie it is just horse dung and jobberish, and they try to fool "smart audience" by turning up the Volume of words (like the wachoswkis did in Matrix 2 with the bs architect) and the hanz zimmer score. Some get lost in that storm of pretentious words and think: "this must be smart!". But it's Nolan winging his crap. And it sucks when the Mainstream says, its a MASTERPIECE. That's a lie. And i don't like lie's being promoted as truth. You can enjoy the movie. But don't hype it, if its not that good.

    I saw Guardians of the Galaxy III on the high seas. It was touching, or actually, it was “touching” and I forgot about it an hour after I watched it. I felt a bit like even James Gunn was working off an emotional script: sad music, cute animals, maudlin over acting in a cg smorgasbord. Just a bit too glib. Nice try. I saw Dune Part I and was fascinated. I saw dune Part II and became obsessed. People have described Paul’s speech to the war council as an almost religious experience. Maybe that’s a bit much but I definitely had an experience and I was swept up in the rapture and the horror of the story. Movies today are soulless and movies like Dune remind me what watching movies used to feel like.

    • @DoroteoVilla
      @DoroteoVilla Před měsícem

      @@GabrielCarusetta It isn't a bad movie at all but I've noticed that James Gunn has a way of creating emotional reactions with melodramatic set pieces with what I feel are underhanded ways. They're not new techniques: sad music, slomo flashbacks and appeals to universally sensitive situations: sick mothers, animal cruelty, cruel fathers, death of a relative, etc. If you've seen Peacemaker you'll see a few examples. One is a scene where Peacemaker is having a flashback where he kills his brother because his dad had goaded him, all to a sentimental 80s deep cut. Very sad, very maudlin and very intentional. Does it create a reaction? Sure but I've seen him do this in most of his movies and yet somehow some of the characters feel like they're played for effect. Call me cynical but many of those scenes don't feel earned but contrived.

    Hey Gabe, it's Isaiah again, good job on the video! You did mention the producers and shareholders having more say over movies, which I don't feel like is an inherent problem in of itself, I feel like the heart of the issue that you're trying to highlight is that generally producers/shareholders/ceo don't really understand making movies that well (correct me if I got you wrong). Which brings me to a point I'd like to highlight as somewhat the reverse; I don't think many directors/artists get business very well. It's not the heart of the problem but I feel like it certainly adds to the list of stuff that's boggling movies down nowadays. A good amount of directors who do have creative control clearly don't have good business mindsets, like Ridley Scott with his Napoleon have a good amount of scenes that legitimately weren't necessary, and could've been cut to make the film less expensive to make. Napoleon firing cannonballs at the pyramids brings is probably the biggest example I can think of, ignoring the fact that it's extremely historically inaccurate as Napoleon took great pains to preserve Egyptian history and culture for research purposes, while also making napoleon in the film look like a total maniac, I'd imagine that such a worthless scene took quite a bit of money to produce. That or Ridley and Scarpa could've just had it focus on a very specific battle of Napoleon's life (which would've made it a more focused and less costly film) instead of having the film rush around many many battles and require so many setpieces and CGI. While having producers/shareholders being not terribly competent isn't something that we really can have that much of an effect on even if we become big name artists, I feel like alleviating the issues on our own end on the artistic side will at least help us quite a bit in this regard.

    • @GabrielCarusetta

      Some good points! Yeah sometimes a business decision can also help make the movie better. I think what I was trying to get at with this video isn't really that this is the fault of individual studio executives, CEOs, or producers, but rather that Hollywood has been transformed completely over the past 10 years, and as the movie making process has changed I think there's been a drop in quality. Will try and explain my thoughts better in a future video I'm working on since I'm still researching and thinking about it!
