Hi, I’m Mike, and welcome to my channel!
I’ve always had a passion for all things electrical and mechanical and enjoy ways of making things better.
There are always a few projects underway in the workshop, most of which I’ll share here. They’ll range from a simple fix or review to a total car make-over. Keep a look out in the background of the videos for tasters of things to come.

XREXS DIGITAL WALL CLOCK AND REMOTE UNBOXED TESTED
Occasionally I get asked to review a product from a manufacturer and I’m happy to do this if the product is “channel related” and interesting.
The electronic digital wall clock and remote by XREXS seemed an interesting device so yes, why not!
It has been supplied to me Blueekin, all the links to their Amazon store are below.
Basically it is a fully functional digital clock. It has all the usual functions you would expect but also has a handy remote control to operate all the functions of the clock without climbing onto steps to take it down off a wall! Brilliant. Everything you need is supplied in the box. Simply connect it up the PSU and plug it and and you're away.
Below I have included links to the clock, which is available in red or white on Amazon. There is also a link to the Blueekin Amazon shop front.

If you watched an earlier video of mine you would have seen me try and repair the fuel filter head on my Land Rover Defender TD5. I have done this previously with 100% success, link to that video here: czcams.com/video/5jScd264K0U/video.html This time unfortunately the "fix" failed. Right, now this is a repair of a brand new part I bought from Paddocks. As you will see in the video the finish of machined casting leaves a little to be desired! I also had to replace the regulator in the unit as I used it from this new part to repair the old un...

On closer investigation it looked as if the fuel was leaking from around the top seal of the filter where the filter screws onto the fuel head (that's what I'm calling it, Part number WJN000020 on mine) The whole head unit is now £179, a big ch...

What are the two smaller plastic connectors for in the picture? There are two big ones with the sides that you press, but I've no idea about the two other pieces.
Hi, not to sure what parts you are on about. The head has 4 brass spigots that fuel lines slide onto. On the outside they are the same size. Can you explain a little more about the bits you speak about?
@@MikeMakesIt at 6:48 you put a picture into the video, which has the two female connectors, a straight one and a right angle one, but also two straight spigots with an O ring on.
Ah those. They are connectors for the fuel pipe ends in case I broke any. In the video I mention my original connectors didn’t clip on very well so bought them just in case. I did’t need them in the end. They come as a two piece set although if I used them I would be able to chuck away one end as this is replaced by the brass spigot in the fuel head.
@@MikeMakesIt did you fit the straight connectors into all the pipes ok?
@@steenjinks7359 no, didn’t change any, just used the originals. Apparently they are a bit of a pig to swap into the fuel lines.
How to fix replace, repair the switch ?As live in Australia.Just out of warranty built in 2021
I've contacted Ryobi with regards a parts manual. I've not replaced a switch unit in these before but I expect the switch unit could be bought although when I enquired about one for a saw it was very expensive, £20. In the end I stripped and cleaned the switch its self. Still running! As soon as I hear from Ryobi I'll place a link here and in the comments. Normal a replacement on these tools just means removing enough screws until you can get to the faulty part. The switch could just need a spray of WD40, assuming it is faulty.
Just had this back from Ryobi: www.cjsinclairltd.co.uk/products/obl1820s?variant=42182167757057 It's a fairly poor document but the switch looks to be a standard microswitch. Take a look and give it a go 👍🏽
Will it read a bridge diode rectifier? 4 pin
As you know a full wave bridge rectifier is made from 4 diodes so I would expect the tester to pickup an issue if one of those was duff. I’ve not tried it but will and update here. Good question 👍🏽
The level of magnetism of stainless steel can vary quite a bit depending on the grade. Some stainless steels are weakly or not magnetic at all. Others may have a magnet stick to them surprisingly strongly, just a little weaker than plain low-carbon steel. Many rulers are made of 430 stainless steel which is ferritic and as such quite magnetic.
Hi and thanks for the great information. For a long time I always understood stainless was not magnetic but at work now we use different grades of SS for gears and some of it is quite magnetic so the squares are probably made from stainless! Thanks for watching 😃
Great videos u are making man thanks a hole heap

Is this shit work on plastic chopping board?
If it’s made out of the same type of plastic then it should. I’ve not tested it on a chopping board, should be interesting 👍🏽
hello this still working?
Hi, I updated the project in March 2024 where you are able to download a working image of my original file rather than having to build it yourself. As far as I am aware it is still good and working. If you follow the original project it probably wont work. Use the downloadable 1.8gig image and you should be fine.

Brilliant! What about any fumes?
Hi Susie, I never saw or smelt any thing but I was in the garden. I’d recommend any “restorations “ are done in a well vented area. If you see or smell fumes or smoke then you’re getting the plastic too hot. Good luck 👍🏽
Would this work on childrens garden toys etc... I have a large scruffy little tikes play frame .. Great video
Hi, I would expect so but the plastic could be thinner so you would need to be careful not to deform the toys.
I'm getting ready to order a 3 axis DRO for my mini mill, but was concerned with measurements and fitment. Your video provided excellent close-up visuals that provided all the answers to my questions regarding custom fitting if necessary. I too am a perfectionist. Thanks again 😊
Thanks for the fantastic feedback. It’s very much appreciated 👍🏽 Thanks for watching 👍🏽👍🏽
I just done cleaning up three green chairs. They were dusting and could not remove the white dust with a wet scotch pad. I used an electric heat gun it worked well but a torch may be quicker??
Hi, I’ve not tried a heat gun but on my chairs a small blow lamp worked well. It’s possible of course not all chairs are made of the same plastic so different results may occur. Thanks for the feedback and for watching 👍
Good review. Good to see a mains adaptor included and fitted with a DC barrel jack, rather than the garbage that is USB-C (in my opinion).
Hi Ralph, yes, I agree, for something like this the old barrel connector is all you need. Nice and simple. I think people see the USB C as the connector of the moment and I do like it but prefer it on the higher end stuff like phones etc. Thanks for 👀 watching.
great review, thanks!
Thanks for the feedback Bill, much appreciated 👍🏽

If you make heavy use as I have I carry a needle with me as yhou can push that into the end of the nozzle when it gets blocked. I mostly clean on the very highest setting in the swirl motion. I have been having problems with using solution though so that has never really worked well for me but that may be my fault.I do need to use as have massive areas at home about 50 litres of hypo treatment on one very large paved area alone and cannot think of a way for the K7 to take all that in and spread it so will keep looking. I would like something to link the K7 to my open big mixed 50% water/ hypo and suck it through to the machine but I think that is perhaps not possible.
Hi Jane, So far I've not had any blockage but like you, tend to always use full power. The plug-in containers are an expensive option and it would be great to be able to get a conversion kit to be able to plug in your own liquid on the Karcher port. That might be something I can look at. If its gravity fed though it bit be a bit tricky. Thanks for the comments and for watching.
I got 4 stainless steel mudflap brackets off Ebay £37and just bolt the flaps onto them fit lovely.. no rust...
Hi, I did see some galvanised ones recently and I think the stainless a few years ago. This might be a route I'll go down when the new metal ones rust out. Thanks for the comments and of course for watching.
The worst thing about those mudflaps is the rubber splitting - especially if they get a bit heavy with mud or snow sticking to them as they swing about. Plusgas is great - it stinks if you get it on your fingers, though. Great vid - thanks 👍
Hi and thanks for the comments. The new flaps feel more like plastic than rubber so I'd be interested in how long they do actually last with mud swinging on them! Time will tell. Thanks for watching.
Roberta wants one, apparently to let me know breakfast is ready 😳
lol, 😂, links in the video 😂😂
How do you fill it, just scoop it in, I have a tub of the grease as opposed to a canister
I pull the chain to pull the plunger in then press the gun tube over the grease tub and press the gun into the tub which forces the grease into the gun’s tub. Normally the tubs have a plastic cover on the grease with a big hole in the middle. Hope this helps. 👍🏽
E Z lok is also available in stainless.
Thanks for the information, much appreciated 👍🏽

My 1999 TD5 has no horn nor headlamp flasher and indicators dead wobbly. Currently in my local garage (defender specialist) for review/replacement - hope it's this and not another electrical thing. Should have done have done it myself I suppose but couldn't be bothered!
Hi, hopefully it won’t be an expensive fix 👍🏽
I've gone through three of these motors in 12 years - usually the spindle rusts up and won't move. The engine parts are fine. Current one is still working.
Hi David, well so far so good on mine but like anything on my Defender you never know what’s going to fail next! Thanks for the comment and for watching 👍🏽

Hi Dianne, I’ve never tried black plastic but I’m glad it worked. Thanks for the feedback and of course for watching 👍
Isn’t that rubbish and a dreadful design. Love what you’ve done. I’d mess that up 😂
Yes, it certainly looks as if the Hotpoint engineering boys overlooked the filter setup! Thanks for watching 👍🏽
Ahh, you are giving me PTSD. I did mine at the end of last year after a dripping regular caused an MOT failure. It wasn't too bad, but when I ordered the new regulator block, I forgot to order the little O ring that sits behind the regulator and the block, so the bloody thing still leaked. I couldn't smell the diesel so it just looked like it was a small oil leak, but in fact, the diesel was picking up the muck on the back of the engine and by the time it was hitting the floor was black.
Hi, I thought I had an oil leak to start with but when it got worse I investigated to find the fuel leak. It happened before but it wasn’t this bad. I’m hoping I don’t have an oil leak as well!
@@MikeMakesIt I dont think there are many places around the back of the engine where oil can leak from short of a pinched rocker-cover gasket. (I think those green O rings go on the pipes somewhere..)
Hopefully that’s the case! Time will tell 😐 Yes, I think the O rings are part of the connector that fit onto the metal spigot tubes. I bought some new connectors just in case I needed them and if you look into them there seems to be an O ring about the same size as the green ones.
Excellent info. Thankyou
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for the feedback and for watching 👍🏽
thanks for the video, working on a 201 now, same problem. It actually ended up in the bin but I saved it.
Hi Peter, I'm glad it helped, that's one less mixer to the land fill. Thanks for the feedback and of course for watching.
Hey Mike, I have this vacuum, and it's suddenly just lost suction, do you have any suggestions on what it might be?
Hi, if the motor is working and there is no suction then I would be looking at the 2 stage filter. Take off the clear end as described in the video (2:30mins) and remove the filter unit. You will see a green filter, remove this (3:20mins) and check this is clean as it blocks when fine dust is sucked up.
@@MikeMakesIt ok I'll give it a try! Thanks :)
Why aren’t you reorienting the bed knives of the press brake to bend the handle first? That’s the whole point of a break with fingers.
I tried different ways but it always tried to bend the whole sheet. I’m told there are different fingers that would have helped. Always learning though.
To anyone watching this in the future of his past, that length stop doesn't interfere with the vice as it's not supposed to go all the way through the casting. You grub screw it one side or the other and unscrew the actual stop & slide that to set the length.
If you use the ball bearings at two ends it will slide better because you have to press more for markings, but will soft pencil like 8B or 7B the markings is going to be more clear
All of those are good points 👍🏽
The only mug that works with these mug warmers is th tin cups used of camping.
It wasn’t the best but it did help keep ceramic mugs warm. Tin ones would work very well as their bases are normally flat so would make great connection with the heater. Thanks for watching and the feedback 👍🏽
Excellent job, thank you very much!
