Fuller's 14-0 in tokyo was 2003 or 2004 i believe not 2001. i was there.

man, that run ending was heartbreaking. three straight games of mulligans and mana screw. his opponent is so bad too, incredible luck all the way through the top 8. hasn't had a remotely good finish since that spike and swapped to commentary instead.

this is really cool like for me i played Magic first during Lorwyn block back in 2007 where i was in my circle of locals known as the goblin king as no matter the matchup my goblins would carry the day then one day my locals closed but i still had my cards then one day years later i played yugioh with a friend who was preparing for a GP in LA so i go i have this old goblin deck from many years ago i can be your crash dummy but it turned out the old deck still had the firepower as with the right tools it could get under many of the power tools of the modern game anyways fast forward to the event as i could not attend he wanted to take a risk and ended the event 9-3 because he had a big punchers chance to steal games with my knowledge of the deck as he would hit hard and fast which for an old deck that was years behind the field he did great anyway after the event i told him you keep it the deck likes you and while i have not seen him in many years he still has the deck as i left it now fast forward years later during ixalan i was online and i randomly got a popup after talking to my cousin about magic as her and her boyfriend got into the game i got sucked right back into it and now years later i play commander but now that i am going to have some money to use i think its time for me to return to comp. magic and maybe if the chips fall right recapture the Skill i once had

Kamigawa ravnica standard was the best standard ever. Went undefeated in 9 straight FNM’s with various decks but principally critical mass update. Close second is standard after the release of odyssey. Frog in a blender. Nether spirit still around. Psychatog. UG madness not yet the boogeyman. Fires still strong. Etc.

Agree on the point on limited. Kamigawa limited was garbage after the release of betrayers and only got worse from there. Triple K was a slow but solid limited format.

Kamigawa block constructed was great. Good memories of that PTQ season. Neon Dynasty is among the best ever. Also, not for nothing, they tried with kataki. Should have just reprinted full energy flux on a stick.

With the way PTs are done now, I don't think this record can actually be broken. With PTs now, once you reach enough wins to lock top 8, they remove you from pairings in swiss...so 16-0 can't ever happen unless they change the way they do the PT pairings.

I've played my fair share of competitive Magic. There a ton of pros I've faced off again, mostly great, a few bad apples, but LSV despite being one of the greatest of all times is always incredibly friendly. Always a good sport. I really don't think Magic would be quite where it is today without LSV in the scene.
