1977 Trans am Project: pulling the engine to get ready for a 455 and 4 speed.
This is my 1977 Pontiac Trans am project. For a while now I have wanted to pull the 400 Chevrolet engine out that the previous owner installed and replace it with a Pontiac engine. This is the beginning of that process, where I will be re installing a 455 and 4speed.

Follow along as I work on this 1979 Pontiac Trans Am and see if it will run after sitting several years.
Fantastica........
Great car, great song, great video! Those second gen F bodies were some of the best cars I ever had or worked on.
@@OsoBlanco17 thank you! I love my trans am!
First car was an 81 that was mechanically sound but rotted to shit. Found an 80 with a solid body but needed an engine. Had to turn that 81 into a parts car and it broke my heart.
@@OsoBlanco17 that’s was tough I’m sure! At least you still had parts of it.
Wow
Beautiful, simply beautiful
Thank you!
is that an HO or SD? I want to get a 455 SD to swap in my 81 TA
BETTER LEAVE THAT 400 RIGHT WHERE IT IS BUDDY, THEY'RE A TOUGH BLOCK.
It was a great running engine! I just want to be able to enjoy a Pontiac engine in my Pontiac
HAD ONE IN MY 71 CATALINA. LOVED IT.
I picked up a 455 to go in😁
Almost a Hurst Oldsmobile. Idk if I have ever seen the GT olds
Good song
Do. It. A. 455 ci. Yes. 😂😂😂😂not. A. C😢😢😢
Yes! Got the engine waiting. I hope to install Vintage ac down the road😁
The 455 with the distributor in the front of motor is the one to get. They are faster then the 454 and the one you have rn. Still a nice motor you have there
I just subscribed to your channel
Thank you so much!
Nice vehicles you have. Keep your Battery off cement it kills them. Put a board under it
Thank you!
Very cool I am crazy about Pontiac car's can't get enough of them
I love working on these old Pontiac’s!
Pontiac with Chevy engines i wouldn't buy. Original heck yeah
I’m righting the wrong of the previous owner and installing an Pontiac 455😁
Nice! You going to the Bandit run this year? I’ve never been, but this is my first year having a late 70s TA, so I might go.
I’ve never been either but I’d like to! I’ll have to check the dates and see if I can make it.
The original super duty
Pls keep up th older models alive guys
Love it
Preety🎉3😢😂😂

Pulling the engine soon, I will have more videos going up.
New update posted!
Sad to say but the TA rust bucket part it out ,the other TA has more potential
I wish you luck. A 4 speed car would deserve a restoration much more than an Automatic.
I have a 77 S.E. 400 4 speed car I’m working on as well!
Restore both. The rougher one can be fixed. Fix them both. You'll appreciate it later.
Amen
Beast💪🏼
Lol yea son!
Looking forward to se you building it, good luck
Thank you!
Save old Blue it was my first car
Bought in Amarillo back in maybe 92
I love a Trans Am! There is a beauty in older cars that the cars of today just don't have, and you got it to run, i hope you plan on doing a complete restore on it! 🤗
You going to post more?
Yes more to come very soon!
I have a Pontiac firebird trans am from 1976 with a 455 7.5L engine and 4-speed manuell gearbox, sweet car to drive....🚔
“Ice cube juice”. Lol. Guys like you owe everything to Derek at VGG.
Derek at VVG is an overrated hack. And there were many people who came way before that hack even thought about being on youtube.
why build 2 why not 3
Looks good anyhow 😁
403 biggest engine that year. And last 2 years before that. Same hp as the standard 400 and 100lbs lighter. Good running engine too
Sounds pretty damn good too!!!
Have you ever watched any other first start in 20 years videos ? You could have done so much to make it easier on that engine.
It's cool to see this car come to life this was definitely over due for this beautiful Oldsmobile
But yours is a very rare GT version you have struck gold especially those were one of last of the rear wheel drive
Those 88 were known as the cutlass Supreme classic at mid year Oldsmobile change over to the front wheel drive
Lol so cool the ta comes with the puppy
Love those 2nd gen F bodies especially the y82 I think that the bandit edition
I am actually working on a 77 y82 as well!
It looks like it has Hurst Oldsmobile decals this also the rear spoiler G body is a jem love em
What a Turd......................... Good luck with all that
One of the most beautiful Trans Am models.👍
70n79 the best
Olds
I miss all my 79's. Will you sell it instead of parting it out?,
Yes I would sell it but it doesn’t have a title.
@@Matt_Barbeename a price or video when you're ready sir. I subscribed. I'll keep a lookout
Vice Grip rip off.
Thank you, I love Vice Grip Garage! I’ll make sure to try and drive the car hundreds of miles home next time.
Onya mate 👍🏾🦘🤎
Just found your channel so i subscribed. The wife and i have 2 79 trans ams love these cars. Have a great weekend, brother.
Thank you, I love them too they are great cars!
@Matt_Barbee I agree old-school looks with a new car ride.
Modern amenities are a plus in my book! I have a 78 ta I’m restoring that I’ll be making some videos of soon!
