If you are looking for places to visit in and around Lancashire, short or long walks, parks, museums and places of interest, there may be something on this channel. I try to add a little bit of history on most of the videos plus some backing tracks of my own music, that's my other hobby. Not professional videos by any means but I try to make them interesting.
Beaumont Park, Dungeon Wood, Holme Valley, Huddersfield
One of our favourite parks in England.
The main park is on three levels of terracing with wooded areas further down. The area is known as Dungeon Wood. There are benches everywhere with wonderful views across Holme Valley. Its location on the side of the valley and the need for terracing produces lots of different layers and areas to explore. Henry Beaumont was a wealthy land owner and member of parliament, educated at Eton College Cambridge. He inherited Whitley Beaumont Estate and lived at Whitley hall and also Crosland Hall. He gifted the land near Lockwood known as Dungeon Wood to Huddersfield corporation to build Beaumont park for the people of Huddersfield.

Cragg Vale Heritage Trail, Hebden Bridge, Calderdale

This is a 3.5 mile trail along Cragg Vale following Turvin Clough and Cragg Brook. There are six heritage information boards at various stages of the route. There are some steep steps at the start of the walk then an easier route with more gradual gradients.

The Stubbins estate is just below Holcombe Moor, Ramsbottom. Although the walk is only 4 miles long on the map, it is up hill and down dale so takes some time to complete. A walk from Springside Farm (a haven for many species of birds), along the recently completed walkway (used to be very muddy) following the river Irwell to Burrs Country Park. April is a great time to visit the area around Springside Farm. Take some butties, sit by the pond and listen to the birds chatter.

A walk around Turton Gardens and Tower in the borough of Blackburn with Darwin. The gardens are dotted with chairs and tables everywhere, so a great place to relax. The car park and gardens are free, with a cafe that is open all year round. The Tower is well worth a visit with volunteers happy to impart their knowledge of its history.

A circular walk around Helmshore with the occasional glimpses of sunshine. Starting at Robin Hood's Well on Holcombe Moor. Points of interest are the beautiful hamlet of Sunny Bank, once a cotton mill, a climb up Musbury Tor Hill, Helmshore Viaduct, Helmshore Mill Museum, Helmshore farmers market, Snig Hole park. About 5.5 miles not including the hill climbs.
