Well done!
I grafted some maples a few weeks ago using this method but the grafts dont seem to be growing. How long does it usually take before ill know if its worked or not?
What happened to the yellow leaves from the thumbnail picture?
when do you prepare the material for vaccinations ?
Hi . aim living in New Zealand and its summer hear now and wants to do some airlaerings now can u tell me from how young branches can i use to airlaer from thanks for all the help and time to come back to us
I just got 2 about 7 feet tall . Love the red bark !
I just planted mine today, I'm so excited to watch this beautiful tree grow! Any tips would be greatfully appreciated.
Hi Michael, It would be great to see how you do summer grafting if you do. Any thought on when you do this in relationship to bud break. I know some like their root stock to be a little ahead (greenhouse) compared to the scion. There are lots of videos on grafting but not enough about how to make them survive. Best, Mats H
hi..do you have any acer corallinum in stock this year?
please make more videos .. even if they are short, that is totally okay. (And they are about Japanese Maples)
How do they do in teps of 110?
If that is about as high as it gets, then you should be fine. Just place it in an area that stays shady in the afternoon during peak temperatures. How are the winters? What zone is it?
Coral bark maples are my favorities.
They are some of my favorites as well!
I believe how a tree is packaged before shipping makes a huge difference. I appreciate the extra steps and care y’all take to ensure perfect arrival.
Thank you! We believe the same thing. It is incredibly important that your trees arrive to you in good condition. That's why we do everything in our power to make sure that happens.
After the short road trip from Georgia, "Kotobuki" aka the star of the show, has arrive to his new home in San Jose. He fits right in with all the "brother conifers" from Maple Ridge Nursery.
This right here is proof that our trees can literally travel across the country and arrive in great shape! Thank you Keith!
Very nice! You say ´release´, so these are probably grafted last summer?
Yes for the most part
@@mapleridgenursery6184 wow they grow a lot after the grafting still...
Nice video, your product looks great!
Thank you!
Beautiful trees. How can I get a catalog or find a website to order from? I live in Central Texas is an issue.
Should I protect my maples from autumn and winter rain?
How big are they and where are you located?
@@mapleridgenursery6184 Northern Ireland..they are still small,about 2 feet tall.
Are they in pots or in the ground?
@@mapleridgenursery6184 in pots.
Now, I am not very familiar with your climate, but they should be mostly ok through the winter. The only time you will really need to protect them is when the weather dips into the low twenties.
Fascinatng!
All these videos assume you have rootstock kicking around out back. Why just tell half the story!
Great video, nice tips. Thank for sharing. New subbed here friend 256
The skin of the rootstock didn't not overlap the scion as it was folded over to the right as you were finalizing the wrapping of the rubber band.
What tree do you graft it onto ??
👍👍👍
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I keep hearing "rootstock". What is that?
This is awesome. Thanks. Where can I buy root stock? My daughter wants to start grafting our maples.
Hey Michael,do you sell seeds for green acer rootsock?thanks
Thanks!
Thanks for sharing
Thank you for this very comprehensive information about acer japonica grafting. I definitely want to try this next month, and will study this video often before I start. Greetings from Belgium
Would a whip and tongue graft work?
Feb is much better time for grafting ? i did it in the middle of this summer .... 16 subjects ... no succession from any of them ... all of them down .... i did cover them after grafting and put my giant black maple in the shade
maybe you should try the soft-wood new growth?
Is Sango Kaku tolerate summer heat in the south? I bought a few trees from y’all.
This has been fun!!!
I have a red bark Japanese maple. Cant remember the name off hand. The leaves are green all summer then turn yellow and red in the fall it's a Acer something.
It’s probably a Sango kaku but could possibly be Japanese Sunrise or another variety
I'm here from your video on Facebook. Do you know a website where I can order rootstock from? I've been looking and cant find a decent website
R.C. CRAY-Z how many are you trying to get?
@@mapleridgenursery6184 at least 20 if possible, if not 20 then whatever I can get.
@@RCCRAYZ We could sell you 20 rootstock if you're interested
@@mapleridgenursery6184 my email is rccrayz@yahoo.com email me prices and I'll let you know 👍👍 thanks!
What's your post graft care?
Andrew Clancy I didn’t want to get into it in the video but I did discuss our post graft care in our latest article on the subject: japanesemaplesandconifers.com/maple-ridge-musings/2020/2/10/how-to-graft-a-japanese-maple
What time of year are you doing this? Now (February)?
We graft through February and into March. Then we graft again starting in mid-June through the beginning of September.
Good on ya mate
Really enjoyed this video Michael. I'm also a customer of yours & hope to be visiting the nursery again soon. It's good to get info on maples from a reliable source in my region. We live in NW Ga. but the conditions maples do well in will be pretty much the same as in your location. If someone in the PNW portion of the country says a certain cultivar does well in full sun that doesn't necessarily work for us here. Keep the content coming. Thanks, Erin S.
Great first video and intro to the trees! Looking forward to future videos!
Thank you!
