Welcome to the youtube channel for the National Trust's Croft Castle and Parkland in Herefordshire. Home to the Croft family for nearly 1000 years, Croft has many stories to uncover. From 2014 and beyond you can discover the life of the family during the 20th-century and experience some of the moments that may have shaped how Croft looks today.
Surrounded by 1500 acres of historic woodland, farm and parkland containing a SSSi in Fishpool Valley and an iron age hill fort called 'Croft Ambrey'. There are many walks and lots of wildlife to uncover all season round at Croft.
A favourite for families, Croft also feaures a mini castle play area, family period costumes and a natural play area within it's wild wood.

Second World War school days at Croft Castle

In 1941 at ten years old, Mrs Landreth was evacuated from the bombing of Birmingham during the Second World War to Croft Castle. Croft was requisitioned to be a boarding school during the war. She was a pupil from 1941 to 1945. Listen to an extract of her Oral History recording here.

The biomass boiler at Croft Castle

Close up shots of the biomass plant at Croft Castle in Herefordshire. The National Trust is investing £30 million in renewable energy to heat and power more of its historic places. This follows the successful completion of five renewable energy projects at National Trust properties, including this biomass project at Croft. The five pilots were launched with Good Energy in 2013.

My husband and myself are currently living in Belgium, I am considering a visit to the castle, as I am the Great, great, great,great granddaughter of Charlotte Croft and her husband Hon Right Reverend Edward Grey . I would be interested in viewing family portraits (of course) and learning more about the estates history. I have made an inquiry about staying in the Grey Croft residence, and am also wondering about the connections there.
