The fact that ANYONE still supports Ubisoft is beyond bewildering to me.

Trying to find a way to jailbreak the xbox 360 so I dont have to transfer my minecraft xbox 360 worlds onto the profiles the worlds were originally made on (since xbox 360 wont let you transfer data between profiles if that data is created on a separete profile 😢)

Right now the only online game I'm playing is The Elder Scrolls Online which sucks because I really do love the game but eventually the servers will shut down and if it's anything like The Crew, I'll never be able to play it again, even offline. It's been 10 years now since it launched and I don't think it'll shut down anytime soon, but I worry about that day. I already worry about normal mortality I don't want to have to worry about a game's as well!

i can tell you how they feel: they dont care. most people playing their games are casual gamers and they just go play other games.

EULAs are a terrible idea, I hate that they're still being used. How can it be legal to add terms after you've paid money?

this is why I never buy an online only game. online only games can only go on for so long before they shut down the servers, it's inevitable.

Imo ubisoft doesn't even have any games coming down the pipe line worth paying $70 to $100+ anyway. This has been the worst gen console so far. Better graphics don't mean better games.

There are actually 6 commercially released 32 CD games. A 32X version of Surgical Strike had a small print run of 500 copies released in Brazil. It has become one hell of a collectors item.

So basically the law allows them to steal from you they open their doors let you play their game and then cut you off after making the money that they wanted to make from you and not give you your money back because 30 days have passed by and you can't get a refund so they wait until a month goes by to then cut you off and this is how they're going to start making profit again bye short cutting you as a gamer every time they make a game and cut you off! This is absurd!

ive always had my gripes with Xbox 360 modding (always seems REALLY hard and harsh if you mess up) [hence why i own a PS3 slim instead of a 360] but knowing it could be this easy? i MAY just do this for freinds and family when i get the right tools and stuff

Uh yes the fuck we should expect to do exactly that. If they are going to be one of the worst companies, and make a ton of money off of it, then they have more than enough money to keep the servers running. Now if it was some small unpopular games that was kinda ass, then understandable, but it wasn’t like that.

Keeping all those servers alive is not really good for the enviroment. I doubt that is Ubisofts reason for shutting them down (i’m sure there just gonna use those servers for something new) but it’s worth thinking about.

I wish that all the other flip phones, smart phones, MP3 players, and the like from all the companies in the world would also be preserved via a similar method. Because the UIs of flip phones just hit different

private servers. all devs at the end of the true cycle should allow everyone to make private servers out of their old games. i know it's already done but if it's done in an official sense maybe it can be good overall. other than the admin rules and power/influence abuse and all those problems......a whole new set of worms

This issue is also huge in the film and tv industry, where they just take down shows and movies shortly after releasing (usually for tax write off)

"Just buy a physical copy." That's my least favorite counterpoint when issues like this arise. The last time I built a computer that had a CD and/or DVD drive was like, 2010. The vast majority of computers don't have CD/DVD drives, and haven't for the last 10 years, if not longer.

Simple solution: stop buying games of such nature

"Become" the new normal? Buddy this has been a thing since World of Warcraft launched 20 years ago. Games As A Service are not a new thing all that's changed is that games in general have become more internet dependent since the Xbox 360 and better internet infrastructure made online updating feasible. You've just been asleep at the wheel.

They were very likely preparing us for it. Subscription services like game pass, online only games, online only SINGLE PLAYER games, consoles without optical drives, and even "cloud gaming" were all hints of where we were headed. As long as our economic models rely on chasing infinite growth, so will every company, corporation, and multi-national conglomerate. The law of diminishing returns is real, but those in power pretend not to understand basic ass math so they can live better than the rest of us.

The PC port of assasins creed 2 completly soured my view of ubisoft, and the last game i've actually bought was farcry 3 blood dragon. wich is such a pain to reinstall because of UPlay that i had to get a pirated version to play whenever i feel like replaying it. So their recent move of shutting down games permanently was something predicted 10 years ago so it didn't realy come as a supprise.

I find it funny that people are crying over a mid asf mmo racing game. Loads of games lost online support over the years

This is one reason I don't like DRM in software. It has its benefits but then people blatantly misuse it like this.

Sega really mismanaged the hell out of the Japanese and American branches in the 90s and literally every resource that went into designing the 32X should have gone into the Saturn but by god I love the concept of shoving the game console equivalent of a supercharger into the genesis to make it more powerful. I wish we saw non-FMV CD-32X games that really took advantage of the hardware.

I have to say what they are doing is disgusting. I don't want people's hard earned money to be lost buying term-based stuff which they thought they had complete ownership over, and for online servers, there must be a deadline for end-of-life clearly shown to users before purchase. I understand that a corporation might have problems of its own, but so do consumers. And the rights of millions of consumers that paid money for stuff they expected to own, in my opinion has more value than the rights of the corporation. I do not ask for the corporation to be shut down, since it has been responsible for some of our childhood games, and they have every right to conduct business, but NOT at the expense of the consumers that have put trust in it to buy its product.

OKay, I think we need to start exploring alternate producers in many...many...many industries. We need to create a world where if platforms are for censorship or businesses even let the phrase "own noth-" slip through their lips, that is an automatic Bud Light moment. We've only had the type of tech we enjoy today for about a generation and a half, and like oil, steel, and meatpacking of old, it's time to start reigning them in and demanding higher standards (no censorship, allowing right to repair, keeping physical property even as just an option for digital-based items such as games and movies, etc.). It's either us or the state to reign them in, and I'd rather not trust D.C. to do anything requiring common sense...or a functioning moral code...or long-term thinking...or a basic understanding of modern technology and the concerns of common people...

Wait... what would happen if you had 2 Sega Genesis consoles, and you played Sonic 1 on Gen1, then the video out from 1 is fed into the video in of Gen2 with a 32x. You should see two games merged together, right?

It's their games. They can do what they want with them and you have no right to complain.
