    • @stav2421
      @stav2421 Před 4 měsíci

      Hi, the cost depends on a few things... 1 - materials new materials will cost approx £1200. secondhand sourced could cost as low as around £200 2 - fabrication method. CNC shop cutting could cost up to £1000. hand cut could cost around £80 i built mine from second hand plasic sheet (£200) and got 6 panels CNC cut as templates (£60) and then cut the rest by hand. (£0). Second hand decking, £150, nuts/bolts etc £30. total was £500. new from vikingdome or hypdome as a made `kit` would have been £3500+

    • @stav2421
      @stav2421 Před rokem

      Hi. Going above 7m with this particular design requires very large panels above 1200mm which is the largest sheet size commonly available - so would not be feasible. A new design with higher frequency could use smaller panels and be possible, but would be more complex to cut and build and no one has asked for this, and the cost of materials goes beyond a DIY project.

      For material costs, search sizes such as Facebook market place, I can see sheet plastic (3mm Polycarbonate) for £30 - £60 in the UK. The 4m dome will need approx 16 sheets of 4ftx6ft. £30 * 16 = £480. Other materials are approx 1200 * M4 Nuts and Bolts. And some tools to cut and drill with.

    This is a really great idea. So at 27 seconds in the vid, I see a crack through the screw hole at the left of the screen. I expected to find a few of these as a result of flexing the panels like they need to be for assembly. So of all your builds so far, how many panels have developed this type of crack, and is there something you do, or suggest doing, to help avoid these occurring?
