I’m Canadian. My Dad told me that years ago, before I was born, a little girl came to stay with his family for a time. I don’t know why. But she was from the Southern US, and white. One day they were walking down the street. A Black man was walking toward them. He was a friend of theirs. But, when the little girl saw him, she stamped her foot and told him, “N……! Get off the sidewalk and into the gutter!” Dad said my Grandparents didn’t know where to look.

I used to live in the lake and feed on the deer. During the summertime I'd emerge and scare the visitors. Happier days.

Day 6808. 2 x 2 x 2 x 23 x 37. Raw honey and 4 strawberries and a snow pea and a bit of of iceberg lettuce then all of my urine and distilled water til 3.00pm then more of the same again with dried figs then more urine then fresh fruit and vegetables and other foods at 9.00pm. No change.

The way the current capitalist economy deals with intellectual property is based on no objective data and is ridiculously inefficient. Every day we miss out on literally uncountable quantities of brilliant art (music, books, movies, representational art, the works) that we will never see - and whose creators will never be rewarded - because our economic system is poorly thought-out and its priorities conflict with the public interest. Relative to this series, this means past literature isn't preserved and further literature is stifled. This situation literally endangers our species. We need to insist on empirically-proven marketing techniques - major changes in the way the profit model is applied to art.

Very difficult to watch. How many of us were raised by bigoted, racist, misogynist and anti-Semite parents that wouldn't have blinked twice if their kids were involved in throwing rocks at Freedom Riders if they came through their neighborhood? I cringe at the thought of what we were grew up with.

Fabulous! I'd love to be a cleaner or a gardener there......anything so I could be there every day. Living in would be even better.

Does anybody know, could, say, a white person drink at a "coloured" drinking fountain ? What about other races ? What about Mexicans ? Or Pakistanis or Indians ?Or even tourists ? People of Mediterranean descent, say ? Would they have ever been mistaken for a light-skinned black person ?

I am so filled with admiration for these brave people who gave up so much, and even risked their lives, to make the words "Liberty and Justice for all" a reality in America, instead of just empty words. That battle was not won once and for all; it continues to this day, in so many ways. Let us look to the shining example of the Freedom Riders and do what is right!
