Nice video with great suggestions for board games about farming. The ones you presented are the big ones (at least the box size). I'm searching now for smaller price and box board games, around the same theme since when suggesting games to people here in Portugal, not everyone has €50+ to spend. I saw in the comments of your video, suggestion about Bohnanza, and it seems ok but more on the party side of games. Let's see if I can find something interesting between €20 and €35. By the way, did you compare Viticulture with Vinhos from Vital Lacerda before selecting Viticulture to your top 5? Also, I saw Rahdo runs throught video (and also final thoughts) about the game Dom Pierre and it seems a good game about farming and producing a famous drink from France. Did you knew that game?

Great video thanks EZ! Some new ones on the list for me so I enjoyed researching them further. I agree that Company of Heroes 2nd Edition is one of the best tactical wargames in existence (at least that I have ever played and I have many of the top ones) and it's a shame that the price including all expansions is so prohibitive bordering on extortionate. The base game is good value though and I suggest anyone to try and get their hands on the Gamefound campaign for the base game!

Rise of the wastelands looks cool. I'm just kinda broke right now. Wolfhorne games did do a good just with thier last game stellar expedition.

Great video - I passed on Annunaki as the cost was crazy in the Kickstarter. Interested to know what you think as you got it for a great price. I've suggested Mysthea before - if you can get a copy I think you would enjoy it. Also, have you played Titans (from Go On Board). Area control with a really interesting "order card" action selection mechanic and lots of dice for battling!

Hope you enjoy Anunnaki, for me it's the most under the radar 2023 bg. Like Voidfall it's a "4X" Euro. The action selection is fantastic, the combat has no dice rolls but combat cards, the game tries to push players interaction (with the contracts) but you can ignore that (but probably you will loose 🤣). Problems with this game: Gods are not quiet balance and as usual by Cranio Creations (although the beautiful art) the game has some component problems/wrong design decisions 80€ is a great deal btw :D and I think that it will work great if 5 players (the more caos in the middle planet you get the more interesting it is 😁) If you ever find Exodus Proxima Centauri (revised edition) at a good price, give it a try. It's reallyyyyyyyy good especially with the 1st expansion that give you factions (base game has no asymmetry besides the technological developments during the game ofc)

I'll be watching that War of the Ring/Arrakis comparison. Entertaining.

I'm torn. While I agree with what you've said, I do greatly enjoy this game. It is hard to get to the table as it's a multi--day commitment. I also agree that the rulebook is poorly organized. Where I disagree is with doing anything that significantly further simplifies the game. The PC game is significantly more complex than the board game. So unless you're going for something like a glorified Risk, this is what it looks like when you create a game that tries to capture the feel of the PC game (IMO). So what could be done to make this game better? 1) do a complete overhaul of the rulebook so that it's better organized. 2) Remove outlier rules like being able to re-roll dice under certain conditions. 3) add a frequently asked question errata for outlier rules such as a sheet that has useful information such as differences between a distant continent province and a regular one. and 4) most importantly, make an official app version of the rule book that allows you to keyword search. At the end of the day, these steps won't turn this into a 4 hour game, but it will make it more streamlined with less downtime. For example, it's not the rules referencing that is the problem, it's that when you go to reference the rules, it usually takes a long time just to find what you're looking for if you ever find it at all. With twilight imperium, I often felt pigeonholed into choosing actions based on what was previously done what what was left. I also didn't feel that the reward was great enough if you wanted to play CRUSH YOUR ENEMIES style and conquer. I love the sandbox feel of Europa UTPOP. When you complete a game of Europa, you feel like you've earned that victory. Likewise, one really bad move or bad love event will typically not be enough to floor you as is often the case in other games.

One minor thing i would do in this game in terms of card power is to be able to enhance the number of total units on one card more than just #pack. In the original game you could enhance a unit beyond that to #throng for example, and that would make lesser units more powerful in the late game, as its a big tactic in the main game. Instead of showing the back of the card as #pack i would just make a chart in the rulebook where each individual card gets + statistics in each level of advancement grade ( total number of units. Now that you have pack, the stats usually seems to go around 30%-50% higher than the basic form. Capping at that amount only makes higher graded cards even more powerful in the end. And as you take damage, the stats degrade and you look at the rules how much you degrade and how much damage is needed to become degraded to the actual rank through bronze to gold where bronze units, have one table and silver has a separate etc. Where stronger units still have stronger evolution, but the bronze can stack higher to match the higher ranked cards. Bronze get +x +x Silver get +y +y Gold get +z +z Or replicate the upgraded stats for each individual unit directly from the game in %. Either way, thats actually a miss from the devs as the end game in this board game stops at pack, and the entire game changes and end game units become more powerful individually. This is good enough dont get me wrong, but I think you could have implemented it easily with just 1 paragraph and explanation in the rules how the stats evolves, and even release tokens you can put on the card that is beyond basic. For each upgraded tier + the normal stats for the basic card. Would be 10x more diffrent combat structures and tactics. Thats just my opinion though but this is alot easier though.

an absolutely great playthrough, loved the way you explained with the gameplay for each part and tried to get into most situations to have a new explanation for each turn. great job. played it once and cant wait to play it again. also played for for the ring. and this has alot of the same good stuff + its easier and shorter.

so with a card that states. move a legion 2 and then make a suprise attack. with this card you are able to move a legion 2 spaces and then make a suprise attack into the 3rd space. and after the attack you dont have to move your troopers into the just attacked space. it can stay in space 2. this we played wrong. for sure.

Fantasy Flight games won't change what they're doing. They take a good game (like Eldritch Horror), strip out of it as much as they can, and then try to sell you the missing/needed content as expansions. A lot of their games have promise, but the expansions never fulfil that potential, and you have to stop yourself from buying a bunch of expansions in the fruitless hope that one of those expansions will eventually bring the game to its full potential. Screw FFG.

I was hoping to see some actual underrated gems, not some of the most popular and beloved board games on bgg...oh well

This should be called the top 10 games you wouldn't want to play with your wife. The only game I found evenly remotely interesting was Era of Tribes which I already own. The rest are area control/war/conflict games which mostly appeal to large groups of guys.

John Company is by far the Best Heavy Board Game of 2022 from my point of view. Only issue I have with it: too much freedom. You came become ripped off very very badly by your enemies, if you are too trusty. This might have a huge impact on player motivation on a long term. But just as it is, this is the only Game, we were crying tears of laughter while we played it (nearly each time)

Very interesting list. DEI defenitely is an outstanding game, nice area control puzzle. March of the Ants has my attention for sure, despite it hasn't the looks of today's standards (I couldn't care less, its all about game play). Not familiar with the other games, they seem cool to me as well.

Absolutely love Starcraft and Runewars

This game is a gem. Also, they really need to reprint the expansion Days of the Siege, it is IMPOSSIBLE to find that anywhere. Apparently it has something to do with the publishing rights switching hands, and the new company just isn't interested in reprinting that expansion at the moment. Bummer. Having played the game a fair bit of amount, I do have a nitpick. I think the "house" part of the game is extremely well-done, especially when you slowly see you efforts reflected in the various fittings you install at your "home base". But on the other hand, I kind of feel like the Scavenging part of the game feels a bit underdeveloped. I appreciate that there are lot of "locations" to visit in the Location deck, but a lot of them feel really "same-ish" except a slightly different roll table for loot. Idk, maybe it's because they all draw from the same exploration deck? On the other hand, I understand why they have to streamline that part of the experience, as providing "actual maps" for different scavenging areas would probably have blown the scope of the game out of proportion.

For me, the most underrated game is without a doubt "Warrior Knights", the 2006 release by FFG. In some ways it is similar to Runewars but with much more diplomacy and negotiation. War is punishing and expensive and often the value of an army is not its hitting power but its intimidation. Its a Cold War most of the game. Its not without flaws of course, some mechanics can feel a bit tedious and time consuming and sometime break the flow of the game, slowing it down. Personally I LOVE it, its one of my favorite games, but I can see the flaws that could be improved. But I dont really understand why it never got traction, its just so good!

March of the Ants is awesome. Rules are so simple and yet, there's so much depth. My only complaint right now (haven't played the expansion yet) is that we plated mostly 3p,,, And it feels that someone will take the lead, one of the 2 player will stop him while player 3 will take advantage. Haven't played enough to see if we need to better balance stopping the leader and racking point ourselves or alternatively if you need to temper the point you earned to avoid being focus too much. I would really like to try this at 4p or 5p, seems like it would be tighter. Starcraft the board game will likely always be my holy grail game. I can't justify paying what people are asking for it. Regardless how good it is, I know the rulebook is hard to get through and it will require a lot of plays to get my money's worth. If I ever find a bargain, I will consider it

Cool list of underrated bordgames! But I'm not so sure if Halls of Hegra and Cerebria are underrated, i have seen many people liking these games and it's hard to get a copy of them in the secondary market. Divide et Impera is for sure an underrated game and is answer is simple, the retail version has no minis 😂 and honestly it doesn't need but ppl love minis I will check the Dark Ages sounds a very interesting! For me and just looking at last year games one of the sleeper hits is: Anunnaki Dawn of Gods (4x Euro style with one of the best action selection mechanisms I ever experienced) I'm waiting for the list of top overrated games 😂

This is really nice list of games and i especially agree avbout tsukuyumi. I will for ever be mad at FFG for stop production of battlelore. This was my favorite game and they just stopped it...
