WHAT KIND OF OIL?

How far will the earwigs travel to go to the nearest trap? Any idea on this? And this is important to figure out how much spacing you need to put down the next trap and so on.

These things can really destroy a lot of plants. Its scary. I've come out in the morning and had them have gobbled up a whole plant overnight (small size) before.

Definitely give them to the chickens! Maybe soak them in water first to clean them & yes repurpose them & make them a food supply!

It's hilarious you have the same reactions I did when they started invading 3 weeks ago. I've never seen so many, this year is crazy earwig town. You can also go out at night and spray the flowers in diatomaceous earth. I could find 3-4 chilling in each flower.

OMG... I am doing this tomorrow! I am in Vermont and have an infestation this year, no doubt since we've been in an unusual rainy period since middle of June and its been very humid, yuck. Not to mention we got 2 months of rain in 2 days the day before yesterday. They are in my flower garden, flower planters, in my raised vegetable garden and in and under everything!!! And yes, I am even finding them in my house, so gross! I am seeing more ants than usual too... ugh. 2 times a day morning & evening I am battleing snails in the garden, lawn, you name it, been filling 2 empty water bottles a day, they sound like dimes dropping in a piggy bank lol. Then I toss them so satisfying... in the beginning a few weeks ago probably got 300+ a day the first week, now 25 to 50 so they are diminished, but we are on a 100 acre farm so staying pro active. Ear wigs your next, that was realy really disgusting by the way, but so worth it! I am on a mission... thank you!

I tied up garden debris (dead weeds, twigs, etc) a few days ago to put out with the trash today. Sure enuf, today I picked it up to carry to curb and watched them scatter. Yuck.

This is such a good idea and i want to try it but do you think this is just attracting them too much and making the problem 10 times worse? Thats what im worried about?

Being and insect guru, I know that some insects and things like scorpions cannot climb up some smooth plastic or glass, so you might want to keep that in mind. Those styrofoam cups are a much better way to go, earwigs and other insect or arachnids won’t have any problem climbing them. I had some of the most lethal scorpions in the world and earwigs are very similar in their design - by God, of course. 😊

Where's the flamethrower when you need it💀 but in all seriousness, those things dwell under rocks and rotting woods so there might be very high chances there's dozens of them in your orchard.

I have found 3 earwigs in my house over the past 3 weeks and I have a little baby so this is infuriating.

Hate to say this, but let's keep it real: during our caveman/cavewoman days, we actually ate bugs for the most part. Lots of termites. So if things ever get REALLY bad, your awesome traps could save humanity!

I'm in the UK and earwigs have destroyed my vegetable patch, I've put down traps and caught hundreds of them! Never had an issue before but overrun with them this year

Thanks for the tip and proof of your results. It's been so long since I've had a problem with them that I've forgotten what I did before. Now that my memory has been jogged.... I used Off spray with DEET.

Now fry the seasoned and oiled critters.
