Casmund | Siren (mermaid x pirate au)
Edmund is a mysterious shipwreck victim rescued by a ship in a dangerous line of work. Caspian is a pirate captain who has heard legends about merfolk shapeshifting to trap sailors--and hoarding treasure below the waves. Both intend to gain the others' trust and steal his riches. It's not like HE'LL get emotionally entangled himself, right?

This is based on a fic I'm writing, which I wanted to have done for Mermay, but, alas, I do not write that fast. I can apparently whip out a video in four days, though. (thank you William Moseley for being in a mermaid movie so I already had the files on my computer lol) I'll add a link here when I get the fic done; for now there are a few snippets and an aesthetic on my tumblr under the tag "narnia merpirate au" if anyone's curious.

I feel like Douglas tried very hard not to consider Marcus a real son, because he would die before his 16. Can you guys imagine losing a child that young? Douglas was terrible father for him, but I think it's totally understandable why.
Good point! Especially if you consider that Douglas already lost Adam, Bree, and Chase when they were really little (Daniel too, though Douglas sent him away rather than having him "stolen" by Donald). I can totally see him telling himself Marcus is just a temporary replacement to get Adam, Bree, and Chase back because he doesn't want to get attached to another child only to lose him.

I love this video! I felt like Marcus's anger towards Douglas was understandable because he was loyal to him by following his orders, even when he clearly felt annoyed by him at times, but Douglas abandoned him, and he didn't even have plans on reviving him when he died either. The messed-up part to me was when Marcus grabbed Daniel and Douglas told him to "get his hands off his son" _ that had to hurt.
Thank you! I had a lot of fun throwing in "dad" and "my son" parallels in this video, because Marcus and Douglas's relationship makes me so frustrated/sad. Douglas's entire redemption arc is based on him wanting to be a good dad to Adam, Bree, and Chase, and later Daniel, but Marcus? The kid who actually willingly worked with Douglas and called him "Dad" and didn't get sent away (Daniel) or kidnapped (Adam, Bree, and Chase)? yeah Douglas doesn't bother digging him up and rebuilding him T_T
@@SupernovaSilence His story is sad. Yeah, he did attempt to kill Leo a couple of times but he was following his creator's orders, and it also seemed like he really tried hard to please Douglas too which probably added to his feelings of betrayal.

Everyone deserve a second chance
I know that Douglas is the good guy while Marcus is evil, but I always felt bad for Marcus since he thought they were family but Douglas only cared about his biological children. If Douglas actually showed him love, then Marcus probably would have chosen his side in the end. But now he’s dead. Again, I know he was evil, but it’s still sad. (Douglas is still my favorite character, but I don’t agree with how he treated Marcus)
Same! I love both Marcus and Douglas, but I feel like the show judged Marcus more harshly than they did Douglas. Douglas did bad things, but they were his own ideas, and he's a grown adult. He got a redemption arc. Marcus did bad things, but he's a kid, following Douglas's orders/training/programming. He got death. Obviously that doesn't excuse Marcus, and he enjoyed doing bad things, but still! It just seems unfair, especially on a show with a strong 'family' theme. I just want Marcus to have a happy ending :(
