    "...because you can't come up with a better way to connect your stones than putting them right next to each other." -Michael Zhou OMG this is the BEST GO QUOTE OF ALL TIME! Michael Zhou 6d is the best GO commentator ever. He is so smart, so humble, and his sense of humor is beautiful, creative and unique. Michael is so nice to all others, players and commentators. Very refreshing. Michael Chen is just perfect too, though not quite as funny, but still the next best after MZ 6d. Michael Chen 1P's reading speed is mind boggling. His nickname should be Artificial Chentelligence.

    Shouldn’t Michael have been given a higher sitting position so that he can see the whole board from an improved perspective. Has anyone tried playing Go from such a low viewpoint? Not the best. Please, next time.

      @@notSoAnonyymus No one might have noticed. This was a busy week. But try yourself to play a game with your chin rubbing against the board…. Maybe not a 100% issue, but, we would have to ask the AI to determine the exact percentage… Just saying.

    Love the streams, thank you for making them! The commentary was great! One easy-to-fix issue: I couldn't tell who won the tie-breaker game (captured stones weren't shown and it was very close). If it was announced, the cross-talk from the game room made it impossible to hear. Just getting a clear announcement of the winner from one of the commentators would be a huge help.

    I think K6 is a heavy move untypical of Alphago. Better is to play C3, which solves for the good the problem of the middle left black group.

    • @andremouss2536
      @andremouss2536 Před měsícem

      I'm happy to have made this comment without having heard Michael's following commentary. I think C3 is better and more solid than B7 as it puts more pressure on white and almost forces him to take the two stones.

  • @andremouss2536
    @andremouss2536 Před měsícem

    7:30 the only following move that could cause a real problem later for white if he retreats at C5 is black E5. Usually Alphago isn't very fond of building so straightforwardly the center, he much prefer to do this in combination with an attack or a threat, but that may be the exception.

    What a beautiful game GO is. "Making a life" How perfect that phrase is right? "Having 2 eyes" I like that one too. It's kind of like- you'd better keep your eyes and your options open. I just can't get over how much complexity there is to GO. Layers and layers of it. I get the feeling I could live to 200 years old and never stop learning.

    Of all these redmond videos this analysis by Michael is just so deep. The history is beyond fascinating and this is just amazing analysis. It really makes me want to learn GO. Clearly its the game that may never stop giving no matter how many years you play. Thete is no way you can imagine how much you add to our lives by putting these out there Michael. I think Chris agrees.

    Thinking about getting into GO as a hobby as I get older. Have to admit that the complexity is fascinating but intimidating as well. Memorizing Josekis does not sound like fun but I love Michael's approach to it all. The game is almost indescribably deep.

      Michael has said in other videos that if you a playing for fun (i.e. not a professional) studying what enjoy and playing the way you enjoy is the important thing. You don't need to study a lot of Joseki. Also when talking about Jaoseki in videos he will often point out the simple variation for those who do not want to study the complex variations. Playing the simple variation will not affect your strength much until you are much stronger.

  • @brandonvereyken4869

    Michael, what can I say? You are just amazing. I'm as speechless as Chris. I'm convinced that 9p GO players are some of the most intelligent people on the planet. Of course, with AI around we can no longer consider any humans intelligent, but if there are any of us who qualify, it would be you 9p. All the comments are so true. These are truly the best GO videos to be found anywhere, and perhaps the best videos of any kind. Chris and Michael deserve every bit of the credit they get for dedicating this kind of time to creating something of real value for the world. I could add that whoever invented GO, he deserves the same credit. Chris, you have improved SO much as a broadcaster. Gone are any amateur styles, rambling, talking over others, et cetera. Now your unbridled enthusiasm for the game really comes through! You are just wonderful now, an absolute pleasure to listen to. Chris, I love the way you analyze the game from an amateur point of view, and you really do a great job of bringing our perspective of trying to see through to the next level while needing some explanation from top pros to see the rest of the picture. Your humility is a BIG asset to the broadcast. I hope I never run out of your videos to watch. I watch them over and over and learn something every time. God bless you both and GO bless you both.

    And by the way- the question isn't "Will Artificial Intelligence surpass human intelligence?" The question is " Given enough time, will humans ever DEVELOP intelligence?" Personally, I'm skeptical. Yes I agree. These reviews, especially the older games, are so entertaining. I don't play GO at anything but an absolute beginner level, but I have to say GO is the most fascinating, complex, and flat-out beautiful game ever created. I'm convinced that GO is played in heaven, and if it is, it's certainly at a high level.

    Most of the "games" that AlphaGo plays against itself for training are over in milliseconds and don't represent its best play, but rather just a random exploration of the space. The 50-something games were games where they let the AI actually ponder its moves for a bit, and represent something a lot closer to ideal AI play.

    Glad to see you back and finishing up with these. That was a crazy first fight in the top left to begin the game, and the crash by black at the end was epic. It would be interesting to see the game replayed with the move Michael thought would win it for black. I wonder if the other AlphaGo would find some way to refute that winning line.
