After Effects Rigging - IK solver
zhlédnutí 319Před 6 lety
Quick tour of my own approach to IK in After Effects, something like my own Duik, at least for the inverse and forward kinematics part. The main features are things like flippable chain, squash and stretch and auto flop. Have a look. :)
After Effects Rigging - DIY RubberHose
zhlédnutí 3,1KPřed 7 lety
My personal attempt to push my rigging skills a bit by emulating Battle Axe's RubberHose script, and maybe improve it in some ways. Everything done from scratch, since the original expressions code is obfuscated. No dockable UI was made and the functionality is somewhat different. This was fun to make, but also daunting, so I'm looking forward to test it on real future projects! :)
Hey there, I'm really struggling to get this to work -- Do you just apply it to the "Amount" property in an expression selector, and rename the animator? Am I missing something? I can't seem to get it...
Arrange it as it is in the video, and it should work
Great tutorial but how did you end up fixing the accents? ´~`
Thanks for sharing, this is great. Is it possible to use this for kerning individual letters within the Essential Graphics panel? I have some animated words with a uniform tracking value but I want to tweak the leading of certain letters. I can do this within the timeline interface but I can't think of a way of doing it within Essential Graphics as I can't specify the letters I'd like to alter. Any thoughts?
I wish you could change fonts, weights, and other styles within the selectors. Wonderful script! Thank you!
Terrible video, but this is the solution. TLDR View - Show Grid View - Snap to Grid Additionally, since the grid isn't really all that great, do this: View - Show rulers (and then add some rulers by LONG-CLICKING on the rulers and dragging the line that comes up. Move line(s) to desired spot for each axis.) Masks and videos/images should still snap to rulers Easily!
that one guy who is better than teachers thanks
@@grammarly4798 No problem. I'm glad I could be of service!
Thank you for sharing this and making the video, this expression is great! Love that it works with paragraph and multi-line text, which I was really struggling with today.
Perfect expression and tutorial, thanks for sharing this
Would it be possible to use this or RE to automatically color URL's in the text a different color than the rest of the text?
this is awesome. thanks for the code!
Tienes el tutorial en español?
Hey Luis! Great explainer! Now that we can access text directly with expressions in AE 2020 is there a way to do this same kind of thing but changing the font weight, font size etc? I haven't been able to figure it myself, would love to know if it's possible! Cheers
As of today it is not possible. Best you can do is add stroke to make the text look boldish and adding skew to make the text look italic. As for font size, best bet is to change size. But it looks really bad if there is a big difference as the tracking is not preserved.
I watched your video with extreme attention and enjoyed it very much. Thank you for taking the time and recording it. It is a really very valuable asset in many designer's day-to-day projects. Congratulations!
You're a god damn saint. Do you know that? A SAINT
Thank you. I didn't see that coming, but thank you. LOL.
@@LuisMartinez-oh2nx Nah man this is seriously extremely helpful, I constantly come back to this expression. While I doubt you care about this expression anymore, do you think it would be possible to make an invert selection? Maybe by putting the x value to 2? Thanks again for this amazing tool 👍
Very cool, this gives me lots of ideas!
No give any clue how = auto dislike
Nice expression and a great tutorial. Thank you. Keep them coming, please. It looks like you really know your stuff.

Excelente trabajo!👏👏👏👏Felicidades. Buena herramienta!
Hey ! Looks cool but tricky as you said. I see many things happen but don't understand how to get this selection. What is the expression to keep this selection ?
I wrote the expression, this is not something that After Effects has out of the box. As with any other parameter available for expressions, you can type anything you need, as long as it works for your project.
@@LuisMartinez-oh2nx Yes sure... i thought it was a tutorial on how to write the expression... nice job anyway !
The expression itself has several lines, so posting it inside the description might not be a good idea. A tutorial sounds good for another video. 😊
@@LuisMartinez-oh2nx you're the boss ;)
Download the script and apply. Its in the video details.
Nice work, could you please share with me?I really want to test it,thanks
dude !! this is awesome !!! i'd like to test it in my project plz i need it
How do i get???
This is just a side project that I currently don't distribute in any form. Would you like to test it on a project of your own?
This is great! One problem I'm having is duplicating hoses (which I notice you look at later on in the vid). When I duplicate the hose start, end and the hose itself the start and end n longer link to the duplicate hose. The duplicate hose is called "Hose 3" and the start and end are in this format: "Hose 2::Start 2". If i rename them, still no luck. Any ideas please?
The problem with duplicating rigs is that properties need to be linked to something and this is usually hardcoded by scripts like RubberHose, DuiK, etc. for various reasons. My solution is to associate the whole thing with a number or word that wil be taken from a given layer (the layer's name is, in my opinion, the best place to put this identifier).
Nice. Really like the squash and stretch option.
Is Rubberhouse script v1.0??
This is a personal project that emulates RubberHose's functionality.
And you set this up how?
yes.
amazing!
bend bias???!!! that's crazy!!!!
