Tenicor Certum3 Holster Review (Short Version)
Terrible experience with T1 & their holster customer service. All I use now is Tenicor…they are definitely the best in the business.
That’s sucks! Sorry to hear that. I’ve always had good luck with Tier 1’s customer service but then again I’ve never had an issue with one of their holsters, only contacted them with questions. Thanks for sharing your experience. Can’t go wrong with Tenicor
I’m curious, what happened?
Yeah, I'm very curious to hear your experience as well.
Strange that the magazine releases aren't covered. Not good.
Honestly, most holsters don’t cover the mag release. You might have a hard time finding one that does. None of the holsters I have reviewed Tier 1, Tenicor, JM custom, and Trex arms cover the mag release. Interesting observation though, thanks!
This was very helpful thank you.
I’ve only ever carried appendix, tried many brands and different wedge configurations. Finally gave tenicor a try. Now I got 3 of them. I recently got a 1911 and really wanted to try a leather strong side carry to be “traditional”. I ordered a custom TT gunleather holster, incredible quality and fairly short lead time. However, it is not for me. Ordered another VELO for the 1911. Find something that works and stick with it. Live and learn!
Thanks for sharing! Good insights
🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I now have 4 tenicor holsters, where one everyday. I have one tier 1, it’s a sidecar for a g 19 n I didn’t like the claw.
Thanks for sharing
@timmygun4059 Do have any preference comments on the closed bottom of the T1C XE vs the option to have the bottom open? Thanks.
So, I don’t notice a difference between the two designs. They work equally well for me but I do know some guys prefer the closed bottom for comfort reasons. I have never noticed a difference between them. If you have a comp or a threaded barrel then the open bottom would obviously be the best option. Sorry I don’t have more/better insights on that aspect
You hit some very poignant things in this video. Better detail than most go into after actual use. Great job and thank you.
Thank you! Glad it helped
Does the velo 4 sweat guard cover the whole slide ?
It covers the full width of the slide and even covers the sights some. Length wise, it covers almost all of the slide but about 1/8 of an inch is sticking above the sweat guard.
Thanks for taking the time to do such a detailed review
Thanks. Just ordered same holster for a left hand strong side. Only upgraded from polymer to DCC. Tbh I don’t love how difficult DCC clips are to attach and detach from a belt, but they’re infinitely durable.
Thanks for sharing! Ya, DCC clips can definitely be a pain sometimes. I find them harder to manipulate from strong side, personally.
Hey tommy gun are you going to review the new trex arms raptor that would be epic
Not sure yet. I was thinking about it.
INCLUDING the Camming Bars instead of Claws sold me.
The owb1 with a cant seems to be the better solution at 3
Thanks! I’ll have to check that one out
Does it scratch the edge of the slide?
Sorry, can’t say for sure. I rotate my holsters, so I’m not sure. I haven’t noticed that it marks up my slide like my Tenicors do but I can’t make any promises
I like your reviews. Quick, to the point, no bs. 👍
Thank you! Glad it helped
This was great. You answered every question I have.
Thanks, glad it helped!
Love your reviews. You should try out and review the mastermind tactics pillow. It's a game changer for comfort and concealability.
Thank you and thanks for the tip! I have seen those and wanted to try them out, but now I’m definitely going to get some 🤙
I have that same tier1 with the Neomag Alias on one belt clip only.
Nice, thanks for sharing! How do you like it? They seem pretty slick. How stable is it with just one Alias attachment?
@tommygun4059 I love it. It is very stable with one as a matter of fact more stable than the 2 belt clips in comes with.
@@05cesarleo Thanks! I’m going to have to try them out soon.
Your channel is my nickname
Nice!
I carry the Velo4 with a PDP-F and pretty tight fitting tshirts and there is pretty much no printing . It’s a great holster
Thanks for sharing and I agree! The Velo4 is a great holster.
Great review and I like the built in cant.
I haven’t tried this brand out yet. Have you tried the alien gear holster?
I haven’t tried Alien Gear holsters but I know a lot of people love them. T1C makes great holsters! They are worth trying, for sure.
This is an excellent review! By the way, did you used the Tenicor Zero belt in this video? I have a Kore belt and it's stiff, which i love, but the buckle is too thick and wide (and i have the smallest one), so i though replacing it with the Tenicor belt. If you also have a Kore belt, how would you compare the two?
Thank you and yes that’s Tenicor’s Zero belt. The Kore Essentials belt is going to be stiffer than the Zero belt but I find the Zero belt is more comfortable and the buckle is super small on the Tenicor. If you like stiff belts, Tenicor just released their new Heavy Zero belt, it’s thicker and stiffer than the one I own but has the same small buckle. That might be a better option if you like stiffer gun belts.
@@tommygun4059 Thank you very much! That was really helpful!
Great review thank you
Got mine in lime green for my G19x with the streamlight tlr-1hl!! Great holster! Side note : I have their Ragnarok in wolverine tan for the 19x w/o the light
Awesome! Thanks for sharing
I thought you were going to get the discreet carry concept clips? I also see that you can now buy them directly from Tier 1.
You are correct sir. I did but ended up putting the EZ-Adjust clips back on. I find the EZ-Adjust claw works better with the original clips. I really wish T1C would do a collaboration with DCC and have DCC make their EZ-Adjust clips for them.
I just received my tier 1 t1-m holster, so far so good. I like the slim design and rides close to my body and no wedge needed. Now I do rock my homemade wedge but its for added comfort and not for added concealment. Not sure if its the design of the t1-M or the claw or both but my other holsters dont provide that.
Thanks for sharing 🤙 Great feedback!
I like the ability to tuck in a shirt but those clips on the Tenicor holsters are a bear sometimes to put on/take off. I have a Xiphos Elite and it’s easy to put on and take off.
Thanks for sharing 🤙 I love the DCC clips but they are definitely harder to get on and off. They also don’t provide as much ride-height adjustment as the EZ-Adjust clips from T1C.
Great video my friend! It's cool to see you honing your craft so that you could become a better shooter and protector all around. It's pretty common these days for people to just buy a gun and forget it and think that they're ready to take on the world. So it's nice to see you putting in the effort and being self-aware enough to make changes and learn.
Thank you for the kind words my friend! It’s been a fun journey and I’m excited to continue it. Thank you for all of your advice and help, it pays to have a friend in the industry, lol. I really appreciate the tips and tricks you have given me. Consistent training definitely helps highlight different features of a holster and how you perform with it.
Sorry about the sound quality at the end, NOT sure what happened. Also, I forgot to mention when I carry the Velo4. I only use it when I need to tuck my shirt in now. The Elite doesn’t conceal very well with a tucked in shirt due to the larger bulge around my belt line.
Great comparison. I concur with your opinion. I have Sagax Lux 2 and T1 Axis Elite, which when separated from its mag carrier is essentially the same as Xiphos Elite. SL2 is more comfortable and smaller form factor. T1 is more stable platform with less wiggle because of wider clips.
Thank you and thanks for sharing your experience 🤙
I agree with everything you said. I’ve been wearing mine for a little more than a year and love it.
Thanks for sharing! Ya, it’s hard to go wrong with the Certum3
Thanks, awesome video, I just ordered the Xiphos V2 holster from Tier 1 yesterday. Liked your video, just one suggestion for your consideration. Anytime you handle your weapon during your video, it's a good idea to take a moment to show it's clear. Thanks again, by the way I watched your video before I ordered my holster and it absolutely influenced my decision to buy the Xiphos V2.
Thank you and I’m glad you found it helpful. Hopefully you like it as much as I did. T1C also offers a Xiphos Elite model now.
I tried using their Velo, but the wedge was just not sitting right for me causing hot spots. I reached out to switch to this Certum and look forward to trying it out.
Thanks for sharing! Ya, the hard wedge can create hot spots for some people. I think you’ll love the Certum3. It’s Tenicor’s most versatile design.
I have heavily modified my AlienGear Roswell holster for my P365X and its my daily driver. Because its injection molded its much smaller and more comfortable than my other kydex holsters.
Thanks for sharing
I have the TREX Arms Ironside and I'm really happy with it. The way the molded it makes it conceal well and the clips allow you to adjust angle easily.
Thanks for sharing!
Great review! I've been binging your content and you do great reviews. You have a new sub!
Thank you! I appreciate the kind words
Great review! I have the Blue Alpha inner belt and its just ok. I agree about getting a belt that has micro adjustments and is not super stiff but not floppy.
Thanks for sharing
It’s $79 now 😢. Any codes? What are your thoughts on the zero under belt
Unfortunately, I don’t have any discount codes. Ya, Tenicor overpriced it, it was $60. With that being said, I would buy another one if I lost my current one, I love it that much! I haven’t tried their under belt yet but have seen good reviews about it.
@@tommygun4059 damn, I’d hope you would lie and say it sucks so they will drop it in price and not sell out. I had it in cart today and by the end of the day it sold out
I just ordered 1 on Monday!!
Awesome! You should love it. I’m still loving mine. Let us know how you like it after a few weeks 🤙
What gun are you running? The 2.0 compact or the shield?
The Shield Plus in this video but normally I carry a G48.
Thanks for the review. I'm new to cc and I'm clueless about holsters. Is the xiphos elite able to attach a sidecar? I'm not sure how I will carry and work best for me. Any suggestions would be appreciated thanks
If you’re looking for your first holster and you’re NOT sure where on your body you want to carry, then I would definitely go with Tenicor’s Certum3. It’s the safest and most versatile option for people new to CC. If you want a mag. carrier attached, I would suggest the Axis Elite from Tier1. The Xiphos Elite won’t allow you to attach a mag carrier. Personally, I prefer them to be separate because it allows for more adjustment but some guys prefer the sidecar style because it helps balance out the weight. If you’ve never carried a gun inside-the-waistband before, the sidecar style holster (mag. carrier attached) may be too bulky. Carrying a gun takes time to get used to, from a comfort standpoint, and sidecar style holsters have large footprints. Hopefully this helps 🤙 Feel free to ask any more questions you may have and I will try and answer them.
@@tommygun4059 thanks for your time and suggestions. I appreciate it.
What is the most comfortable IWB hip carry holster you've tried so far?
My favorite strong-side (3:30-5 o’clock) holster is Tenicor’s Certum3. It’s the most comfortable strong-side holster I’ve tried yet. I have several reviews that cover or include the Certum3, if you’re interested.
I bought a zero belt and found it very comfortable and perfectly adequate for AIWB carry with my SS MR920L but was way too flexible for carrying an all steel 1911 IWB. Fortunately tenicor has great customer service and swapped out the standard zero for the HD dual layer belt. It is plenty stiff enough and still comfortable. The tacbeltz is also a good comprise between stiffness and comfort. But i can't imagine the velco closure will be very durable. Nice review.
Thanks for sharing! Great feedback
Very detailed and great review!!
Thank you! Glad it helped
Tenicor certum is the best holster I’ve used
Awesome, thanks for sharing! It’s hard to beat the Certum3, that’s for sure.
Great video. I have the Tenicor SL2 for my Glock 43x mos with a TLR7 and it conceals great, just adjusted the ride height I just purchased the Tier1 Xiphos Elite for the same weapon but without the light attachment, it took me a while to get it right switching out the wing adjustments putting the clips in different positions even putting the second one on the holster couldn’t get it right then finally putting everything back to the original position and then tried different clips made of metal. The metal clips did the trick and only removing one plate of the wing. It was definitely a pain to get it right so for anyone interested if you’re not a skinny person and you purchase the Tier1 be prepared to do some work. For reference I’m about 20lbs heavier than what I’m supposed to be, I know it’s a lot but I don’t think it’s anything crazy, and started working out, and being careful what I eat to lose the weight. One last thing I wear the Tenicor Zero belt with both holsters.
Thank you and thanks for sharing your experience. Great feedback!
@@tommygun4059 Thanks for the reply I did forget to mention one last thing, with both holsters I wear them between the 1 o’clock and 2 o’clock position that seems to be the very best spot for me, I have been wearing the Tier1 now for several hours it’s very comfortable it was worth the trouble, the other day I was wearing the Tenicor at an outdoor party none of my friends and family could tell I was wearing it, and all I was wearing was jeans and a lite black sweatshirt, so that made me feel good especially that most of them carry so when gun guys can’t spot it you know the holster is good.
@@Mike-cu6gk I carry the Elite at 1 o’clock as well and the Velo4 around 1:30-2. The Tenicors do a great job at concealing, for sure! I find the minimalistic footprint of the Tenicors make them easier to find the sweet spot for carrying. The Elite is worth the work though.
@@tommygun4059 Read this: Here in sunny FL it’s hot and humid 11 months out of the year, but for me being from NY it’s hot 12 months a year, so for 3 years now I find myself wearing shorts something that I’m not accustomed too wearing, now I try to wear shorts with a belt, but if I’m wearing basketball shorts I pocket carry a Ruger LCP Max in a pocket holster, so environment plays a role. A year ago I purchased a JX fat guy holster for this Glock and TLR-7, I thought it was the best ever made, one day we took a 4 hour road trip I was wearing jeans and pollo shirt, the holster was amazing, on the way back we stopped at a Walmart just to get out and stretch it was 12:30am a vehicle parks 50-60 yards away and 3 individuals get out and approach me and my gf, we are sitting on the tailgate of my pickup, they split and come from different sides, I tried to draw my weapon and it gets stuck in the holster won’t come out, told my girlfriend to get in the vehicle then I went to my drivers side rear and pulled out my shockwave from under the seat. The one guy saw the shotgun and took off running the rest realized something was about to go bad for them so they took off, and that’s how I ended up purchasing the Tenicor. NY teaches you to be very aware of your surroundings.
Love my Zero belt for appendix carry. For OWB, I use something stiffer.
Thanks for sharing!
I found the zero belt was too flexible for strong side iwb carry with an all steel 1911 but fine for aiwb carry. Tenicor swapped it out for the heavy 2 layer belt and it's much better now
@toledoupsguy6064 I'm left-handed so strong side has the extra tail of the belt to provide a second layer of material for rigidity. Maybe reverse the belt so the tail is on your right will work for you. The buckle is so small it doesn't necessarily have to remain centered. Just a thought... hope it helps.
@@wjbailey7210 IMO if we have to try figuring out a way to make something work it doesn't work. The heavy vero belt does work and is still comfortable.
What made you choose the extra wide wedge?
I find the wider wedges are more comfortable because the larger surface area helps to distribute the pressure better. If moisture control and airflow are more of a priority, you could try using two of the narrowest wedges, spread apart as far as they’ll go.
Awesome thank you!
