Dunnet Head is a whole 2.35 miles further north than John o' Groats and is a fantastic place to watch the puffins fly to and from the cliff face under the lighthouse.

Starting at Naver Bridge and watching the horses wander the banks of the River Naver and driving the NC500 route to Armadale Beach which is a soft sandy cove well worth the 500 metre walk down to it (if you can get parked in the car park where there's room for 3 maybe 4 vehicles...go early!)

Google Maps is an absolute godsend...until it isn't and you end up in someone's farm, on a dirt track...
