The laser was replaced, and it's good as new.

I had a local electronics shop do it. Since then, I've repaired several cd players and always de-solder the static point.

I sold these units after I got them repaired. Now I have a Yamaha European cd player that displays all of the information. It continuously scrolls all of the information as the sings plays.

I love cds and will never get tired of them.

Not at all. Out of all of the cds I have, I only found two that had cd text encoded. It depends on the record company that manufactured the cd.

a few Sony dvd players support single layer cd text, meanwhile most Yamaha cd players(pretty expensive) support cd-text. most sony made cd's have cd-text support. meanwhile sony standalone cd players support complete cd text but they cost a lot second hand(usually players from the ES series, ES is Elevated Standard) a few philips players do support cd text, but again that is single level cd text support.

Yes, I took it to an electronics repair shop and both lasers in the units were bad. They replaced them and now they're working again! What's weird is that I purchased which was supposed to be a new laser from Malaysia, but it still didn't work. I took that new laser to the repair shop along with the cd players and they told me that the "new" laser I purchased was bad also. I have the same problem with a Sony boombox radio also and purchased a new laser assembly from an American seller and will be installing it soon. Hopefully the boombox will work because it's a very nice one!

@@beotheguitarist thank you for feedback. I have Marantz CD5600 which sometimes have problem to read records. Yes, laser change usually solve problem. So far do not have time and have new Marantz, but once will have time will try to change capasitors from modul which power laser and do on - just will test if it solve. In past repaired few products this way. However i consider that problem may be also laser:)

@piotr6991 Yes. I just changed the laser in the Sony boombox last night and it worked! Now I know how to do it. I watched a couple of good videos here on CZcams, so I'm good to go.

I had bought an sa8001 that the seller claimed worked but had the same issue. I checked everything and replaced the laser with one bought off ebay and it still didn't work. I wound up returning it which was very saddening to me seince it was my first marantz product and I really liked it. I wonder if the new one I got was also broken too@@beotheguitarist

The last band I was in, OHR, had me and 2 other local Bronx band guys from back in the day, Manny from Driven By Hatred and Adam from The Wasted. We were active from 05 to 2010, toured the UK, and all over the US, opened for Anthrax, Slayer, Hatebreed, Agnostic Front, God Forbid, and a bunch of other national acts. I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss my band days hahaha! Checking out your uploads now! You were always a killer guitarist!

@23rd Disciple That's so cool man. I have a lit if stuff to listen to with your music. I will be busy for a while. I wish Morbidin had more material, but we inky lasted 2 years. Right after that, I got with a guitarist/singer Christine Hell and released a 3 track demo. It's here on CZcams. I have most of the Morbidon live shows on video and will be uploading those very soon. Look out for it. I released two 5 song demos 18 and 19 years ago...instrumental stuff. I'm finally working on my 3rd one after all of these years.

I feel the same way about Emaciated, wishing we had more material, that demo was done on a 4 track in my moms basement, with a drum machine, its such poor quality, I was surprised there was interest to reissue it tbh, flattering none the less hahaha... we had 2 rehearsal recordings without vocals that came out so much better, with that drummer Diallo y'all hooked us up with, I wish I still had the cassette of those sessions. Emaciated didn't have much of a shelf life either, we never even got to play a show lol... I first met those guys in the Summer of 90, but I dont think we started jamming until 91, by the time I started going to college in 93 it was over. I just started playing bass again after not playing a note since 2010, got an acoustic 5 string and started writing with the 2 guitarists from my last band OHR. Are you still local? I am. Working and living in the good ol BX
