I love Ecotech pumps and wave makers - even if they’re EXPENSIVE. I don’t have a problem with Patrick and gang selling to Aperture. It’s business, and they have a right to do so. Same with BRS. Do I think Aperture has the same priorities as Patrick and Ryan? Definitely not. I do think though that he needed to be called out when he talked about competition being good, and BRS having a wide range of products - right after BRS axed the Aperture competitor products from the website 🤔

To be fair - the Aperture acquisitions have been bad for the hobby. Look at the rising prices (yes even before inflation). Also look at what's happening to BRS.

I truly admire all the knowledge shared, but this is not one of those subjects reefers want to hear, or benefit from. Maybe for the scientific community, or those few reefers involved on the scientific aspect of it. Thanks for all you do for the hobby.

Fun fact about Indophyllia/C. macassarensis: What we call Indophyllia might not actually be Indophyllia/C. macassarensis. C. macassarensis is only known from a single type specimen, with no confirmed in-situ photos. There is evidence to suggest C. macassarensis was just a taxonomic mistake when someone mixed up Acanthophyllia and Cynarina. What we call Indophyllia might just be intermediate specimens between Acanthophyllia and Cynarina.

That was such a great chat. I could have taken another few hours of this for sure. The part about "everyone" wanting the top stuff when there's only one or two took me back to my wine selling days when some buyers would try to get you to give them bigger allocations etc of only the best and hardest to get stuff. If they got any at all it meant they'd also have to buy x-amount of this "swill" as well, lol. 🤷‍♂🤣
