Game is garbage. Battle is ok, but history and characters are below average. In the trilogy each character had their personality and they rub each other sometimes with funny banter, but they had they serious moments, even exposing their own weakness and fears for the future. Everyone will remeber Garrus, Liara, Wrex and Tali. Even the less beloved ones like Jack, Mordin, Legion and Thane are amazing characters. "Sir Isaac Newton is the deadliest son of a bitch in space!" I think the major problem with the game is what you pointed. The trilogy earned the right to banter while Andromeda is all banter. I hated the fact that everyone just walked over Ryder. Sheppard had a lot of bros moments with wrex and Garrus, but when he gave the order the squad was do or die for him.

I have never finished inquisition. There is sooo much bloat that I get bored before the game's ending.

I just couldn't bring myself to care about the world, probably because there wasn't much that felt like it was worth saving. New Vegas made me want to save humanity and Mr. House was the best compromise to achieve that.

What's good in the game is pretty good to great. Good companions and characters for the most part. Some great story beats. Interesting lore. Also a really good DLC. Tresspasser is excellent, or whatever the last ones called. HOWEVER....if ppl remember...this game was sold on being the "biggest dragon age yet" and the reason i don't play it anymore, is that this game suffers from all the ingrained open world crap that has become cliche by this point. the giant maps were so fcking tedious it was mindblowing. They basically existed as gates to more story content back at your stronghold--where about 90 percent of the most interesting stuff happened, the few other major story beats happening in mostly seperate isolated areas existing for those beats. The open world crap is so bad it makes the idea of replaying the game unbearable.

Hm. It seems that a lot of the issues you and many other people outside the fanbase have with Sonic games stem from the impression that Sonic is ONLY about going fast, when most games before the boost was introduced were primarily platformers where speed comes as a result of skill and being familiar with the level. The classics are also naturally very arcade-y in design, as they come from an era where games, especially platformers, were designed to be played over and over. I do agree that they suffer from bullshit trap placement and other obstacles that are fairly hard to see coming the first time, but that is also because they expect you to play the same levels over and over until you more-or-less memorize the layout. I do share the sentiment that SA2 isn't great in its entirety because the game forces you to engage with widely different playstiles in the same campaign as Sonic/Shadow, and those levels are also pretty mediocre compared to the main high-speed platforming ones. I actually tend to prefer SA1 because, while the game is a lot jankier and has aged considerably worse, Sonic's levels are more open and each character has their own separate campaign, meaning I can play all the Sonic stuff and ignore the rest if I want to. I think an ideal 3D Sonic game would be one that evolves from the SA1+2 speed stages, and the other character's levels have the same goal as Sonic's (getting to the end) while being built for their specific abilities.

Ngl one of the things I really like about your videos is your can be critical without being overtly cynical, and while doing so you have no problem saying what you randomly really enjoyed or really liked. It feels very honest.

Skyrim is the most overrated game in the world. It is pretty boring without mods, and with mods... well, then the mod is good, not the actual game.

I didn't have as much of an issue with Mass Effect Andromeda as other people did. I think it was because once I was aware of its general story outline, I didn't see it as a 'Direct Sequel' to the original Mass Effect series but rather a kind of 'side story' or offshoot. Kind of like how Trails in the Sky series begot the Trails of Cold Steel Series. I rather enjoyed the general idea of going out and exploring in order to help your overall group survive, and find out the mysteries of the new galaxy. I thought it was a refreshing change of pace from the 'fight off against encroaching galactic threat' from the previous game and I rather liked most of the characters, both in terms of companions and side characters we came across. I was honestly eager to see where the series would go to next and I am still hoping with the new Mass Effect teasing a kind of merging of the two stories it will get people to maybe give Andromeda another chance.

A fair point about your opinion on the Inquisition cast of companions being the "best" across every DA game. Everyone will have varying preferences and opinions although I'd argue that context is missing in your comparison of characters regarding importance and being the "best" to their respective games and story. The inquisition itself is(was) an organization sanctioned by Divine Justinia herself to restore order to Thedas if it should fall out of it. The advisors that flock to your side are already renown in their own right: Cullen was a Knight Captain, Leliana was left hand to Justinia V, Josephine handles and navigates through political affairs with her ties and experience with nobility etc. And the companions you gather have notable and meaningful backgrounds prior to joining you as well. My point being is there's already an established level of importance and weight from the get go. In Origins on the other hand - The companions you gain along the way are literally castaways, misfits and nobodys. I'd argue that Morrigan is the only character with meaningful implications to the story regardless if the Hero of Ferelden gets involved or not. Alistair, Leliana have potential importance but who's to say what happens if the Hero of Ferelden doesn't get involved. Across the board it's not easy to place importance and value on drunkards, outcasts and funny guys if they provide no other reason than: "I think they're cool or are useful in combat"; which, in my opinion, is what the majority of Origins characters rely on to stay relevant in anyones campaign. Attribute it to poor writing or whatever but I don't think it's necessarily fair to compare Inquisition and Origins' cast of characters importance to the tone of the world/direction of the story when you consider the context. As much of them are "along for the ride" in Origins and the companions in Inquisition are there to make footprints or already have made them. Perhaps I agree with you (and I'm a biased Origins baby lmao) that the entire Inquisition cast of companions are very consistent in that they all have importance in their own way but I can't with good conscience say that contextually they hold more weight than what Alistair, Morrigan, and Leliana were given their origins(lol) for Origins.

Barely 15 minutes in, and I gotta throw out my own two cents on the banter: The fact that you haven't spend time or gotten to know the characters is definitely a problem, but an even bigger problem is that *the characters themselves* haven't gotten to know each other. The thing about friendly banter is that it's... well, *friendly* banter. In order for it to feel genuine, the characters have to actually be friends, or at least have some sort of history with each other. Total strangers don't crack wise with each other like this; if you're paired up with a random classmate in school, you two generally aren't going to be making jokes right off the bat. And it sounds like Ryder, Cora and Liam only just met upon waking up from the cryo-sleep, so even if the banter had some punch to it, it would still fall flat. Having *everyone* banter like this right off the cuff makes that banter lose all its weight or interest, which in-turn makes the characters feel shallow. Now, if you limited that sort of overly-casual banter to a single character, then you'd have something interesting. Maybe it's a character's nervous tic; their way of staying calm during a stressful situation, even if it doesn't seem 100% appropriate. Maybe it's a way of showing their social awkwardness; getting too chummy with people they don't know yet and being kind of awkward as a result. So on and so forth.

Cortanas agony in H3 does actually make sense, she's a smart AI the series tells us that on average they have 7 years before their memory starts to degrade they think themselves to death, in Cortanas case she's been soaking vast info dumps for 2 games particularly the forerunner info from the halo rings and then she has the gravemind interrogation she spends vast amounts of memory avoiding feeding him any information about earth, basically she's halved her life and it's took its toll

I watched about 30 minutes of this before stopping and buying the game on Steam (hey, it's on sale for $6 right now too). Definitely seems like the kind of RPG I'm interested in and one that I want to experience for myself fully before returning to this vid. I had never really known what this game was about when I heard about it, and before watching some videos I actually I got it confused with Kingdoms of Amalur in conversations.

Its not a bad game its just not a good Mass Effect game.

A masterpiece

The good things I enjoyed about the game was the exploration and the combat... Best mass effect game in thise categories, especially the combat. The combat never felt so good and fluid as it has in Andromeda. As far as the bad, well, it's like he said, the bad of the game were the things I play bioware games for, the story and the characters.. worst game in the mass effect series (I can't speak for any of the other ones personally) for any of those.

Yeah there's a reason why I left Ashley to die. A lot of reasons, actually.

I hate how they made 3 angara models and just recolored them over and over. Kett are even worse - they didn't even bother recoloring those.

I kinda liked and respected Letho as a character and yet that first fight was such a pain in the ass and pissed me off so much that I decided to fight him to the death at the end of the game as a simple matter of pride. It’s a lot easier.

There was a couple of games that could’ve taken this same title too. This just became the definitive ambition flop

I sent bioware a fanfic that makes the entire story an allegory for your mom's terminal disease - the scourage is the cancer-like disease, the kett vs angara being it's spread, humans being the immune system, and the tech being medical intervention. You beat the game, Mom wakes up, and you arrive to a real mass effect game in a post- reaper wiped Helios.

Liam and Cora fking sucked. I got so sick of hearing about the Asari commando's line.

When you said "an mmo with a missign m" it resumed perfectly my sensation after a few hours of the game, and I had to put it down, couldn't bring myself to like it. I going to watch your review (probably not in one sitting lol) since I am curious if that sentiment is kept for the entirety of the game. I was shocked that it got the reviews it got, since usually I can see why someone could like something even if I don't... not this time.

My biggest issue with the game was the bland ket and angara, along with cliche 'ancient precursor structures' thing, it just felt like re-treading old ground... after journeying to a new galaxy

This game was as bad as everyone says, I will never understand the need to defend this massive piece of crap that was made so because of Anthem development. It blows my mind honestly. How can we just say: well the sotry is mid but thats fine to a MASS EFFECT GAME. Look at how well Legendary edition did compared to this piece of fuming crap.
